NATTADREESWARAR TEMPLE

Vijayalakshmi Ravichandran Amma posted several photos taken at Nattadreeswarar Temple on fb. I share her photos below. These photos brought back delightful memories for me.

When I was in India with my family this time last year, we were delighted when Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal decided to take us to the Nattadreeswarar temple. We had not heard about this temple until then. What excited us most was when we were told that the temple was in the middle of the Kaveri river and that we had to take a coracle to go across.

From Kallar we traveled to Erode, passing through the famed Murugan temple often mentioned in Velayudham Karthikeyan Aiya's Siththan Arul, Oothiappar of Othimalai. We reached Kangayampalayam on the banks of the Kaveri River and took a coracle to cross the Kaveri to the temple built on a rock in the middle of the river. It was an unique experience indeed for us taking the coracle. We were blessed to hear about the greatness of Agathiyar from the priest Saravanan Manikkam Aiya himself, while traveling on the coracle.
