THE SIDDHAS TOUCH

Ramalinga Adigal could not find the words. I too cannot find the words. There are just no words to describe the compassion of the Siddhas. They were all along with us. It was just that we did not know nor could sense their presence. It was at certain junctures in our lives that they came to reveal that they were traveling with us on this gross worldly journey. Upon revealing themselves we, in turn, have started traveling with them on the subtle journey of light, sound, and vibrations.

In the foreword to “An Introduction to the Philosophy of Saint Ramalingam” by Dr. C. Srinivasan, Rao Saheb K. Kothandapani Pillai BA wrote,

"When the transformation of that very subtle part of the being has been given fully to the divine, the individual becomes literally a beacon of bliss-light."

Even now Agathiyar says that we are not aware of our actual state telling us that we have passed the test. As we are dressed in the same tattvas we cannot see our present state. But the Siddhas know. Hence they keep driving us forward.

Looking back at my life, I have to bury my face in the sand out of shame for what I did. Yet they come before us addressing us. They tell us to let the past be and tell us it was all a lesson and experience that we needed to grow into. Agathiyar like Lord Krishna, even took on the blame, telling me it was all his doing for want of the experience for myself. There is nothing right nor wrong he often says. All these shall add up to our experiences he says. While the experiences are for us he only sees the soul he adds. He tells us that he was with us from birth, nay even when we were in the womb of our mothers. Each time we messed up our lives he was there to get us out of the mess. Each time we encountered danger he was there to save us.

I guess each man has numerous paths, journeys and travels laid before him. He chooses which way to go. Undecided at times he consults the family, friends, the elders, an astrologer, or the Siddhas Nadi. If all the previous could go wrong Siddha's advice would be the best bet for they know the past, present, and future. Yet at times the Siddhas predictions too do not happen or can court more trouble or so it seems. I guess there is much juggling and remapping of our lives once we come under the purview of the Siddhas. It must be tougher for them I guess but their love for us supersedes everything else. Just as we have heard of the Midas Touch, the Siddhas touch can do wonders but not in the ability to make money in all our ventures as in the former but in the ability to change the body into something much more precious. Speaking to Siddha physician and astrologer Thiru Arivananthan he pointed out a song that outwardly seemed to describe the means to make gold. But in actual fact, it was a means to change the body into one. Dr. C. Srinivasan in "An Introduction to the Philosophy of Ramalinga Swami" published by Ilakkia Nilayam, Tiruchi, 1968, wrote,

"In many verses (of the Thiru Arutpa) Ramalinga Adigal sings of how his ‘impure body’ of ‘impure elements’ was transformed into a pure body of pure elements, called a golden body of immeasurable carats (Swarna Deham). He sings that one has to think incessantly until he feels and melts with love for god. In such a melting mood one burst into tears and sings the praise of god and soothing warmth is produced in the aspirant. When this universal love and sacred warmth develop, the body, as well as the soul, became prepared for the descent of grace, in the form of light. When this occurs, the material body of impure elements is transformed into a ‘body of pure light’, emitting a golden hue. The ultimate and greatest transformation in human evolution: a transmutation into the godhead, which he referred to as merging with the body of supreme wisdom - the body of god supreme (Gnana Deham).

Swami Saravanananda in his English transliteration of Ramalinga Adigal’s “Arutperunjhoti Agaval” published by Ramalinga Mission, Madras wrote,

"With the descent of sufficient Divine Light, the psychic head begins to emerge. According to Vallalar, this psychic head (a crown or diadem of light) is made up of a special and highly refined type of brain called Omkar brain. As soon as it emerges, it draws more cosmic light; the more the light the greater the growth of the psychic head. With the advent of the psychic head, more and more changes take place in the already purified body. The cells and thence the whole body begins to transcend the limits imposed on them by impure Maya (the grosser principle of nature) and try to break one more of its veils. The cells undergo alternate condensation and expansion for an unspecified period and the body slowly emerges out of its bondage and begins to grow. This expanding and ever-prospering body is called the subtle body or the body of the Omkar or Pranava body. "

"With the functioning of the third eye, the transformation of the light body or Pranava Deham is completed and the next and final stage of transformation into the Gnostic body or Gnana Deham starts. The transformation of the Pranava body into a Gnostic body begins with the functioning of the third eye."

In speaking to Arivananthan about the current changes taking place within he says that the state of Sahaja Yoga would have us refrain from doing anything but instead have the divine energies do their work just as Agathiyar had said earlier when I enquired if there were more practices to be carried out.

When our initial work is done having placed efforts in carrying out the many practices given, the inner energies enhanced by these practices that have a direct link with the outer energies gather within and without churning the elementals and vital energies to rise and flower.

"These transformations eliminate the worldly substances in the body. What is retained is the form of their profile. All else is replaced. Substances of perishable nature will get replaced by substances of cosmic nature by altering the natural physical fabric through the science that prevailed then known as Kaaya Siddhi. On completion of the transformation, their body is retained forever."
