MY ART

I was happy to see Kalyanakumar Veerapandiyan posts one of my sketches of Tavayogi on Tavayogi's blog at http://www.agathiarkallar.org/founder/

I had done a pencil sketch of Tavayogi's portrait when he was in Malaysia and showed it to him. He was mighty pleased. Later I painted the drawing.

Scavenging through my stuffs looking for my grandparents photos, I came across this sketch and many more of my drawings. These and many more I had digitized and uploaded them in my very first webpage indianheartbeat, but later removed the site.

TEMPLE WORSHIP AND THE SACRED SPACE PART 4/4

Just as many readers and followers of Velayudham Karthikeyan's blog SITHTHAN ARUL have commented that they could relate and found answers and solutions to their questions and problems or doubts, reading his posts of Agathiyar's revelations from the Jeeva Nadi revealed to the Jeeva Nadi Guru of Chennai, I too received many messages and clarifications reading his blog.

I saw similarities too when reading Ramalinga Adigal's THIRUARUTPA and was overjoyed. Ramalinga Adigal started his beautiful journey on the spiritual path as a young lad on the streets, spending much of his time worshiping at temples. The soul stirring hymn Kandha Kottam Deiva Mani Malai was composed and rendered by him at Kandha Kottam in Chennai, when he was a mere 9 year old boy. Later he asked his brother that he be given a room for himself where he could pray to Lord Murugan. It is mentioned that the Lord gave darshan to Ramalingam in his room. Later as a young adult he used to visit Thiruothriyur, Tirutani, and Chidambaram. From worship of the form he moved slowly to the formless and to the worship of God in the form of light. Eventually he became light itself.

Ramalinga Adigal
In many of his hymns Ramalinga Adigal regards the Lord as a Siddha. In verses 4895 till 4904, song 107 titled Thiru Unthiyaar, on page 927 of the Complete Poetical Works of Sri Ramalinga Adigal's THIRUARUTPA compiled and chronologically arranged by Ooran Adigal for the Samarasa Sanmarga Aaraichi Nilaiyam, Ramalinga Adigal sings a beautiful hymn at the break of dawn upon attaining the status of a Siddha and many more. He claims that he has become a Siddha, and proudly announces it to the world.

Ramalinga Adigal's last message to his devotees before he enters the room at Siddhivalagam at Metthukuppam was to assume the jhoti or light from the Agalvilakku (the light source from a lit earthen lamp) as Eraivan or God. He choose to call Him 'Arutperumjhoti'". Adigal worshipped God in the form of light and became light itself. Ramalinga Adigal showed us the way, in the most simplest manner.

Agathiyar instructed Tavayogi to have the Aaru Aadhaara Peedham made and placed at his Peedham in Kallar some 15 years back. The Aaru Aathaara Peedham was a seven tiered structure, widest at the bottom and tapering up similar to a pyramid where an Agalvilakku is lighted and place at the topmost level. But devotees could not comprehend the abstract concept of the Siddhas. As people were so fond of images and idol worship, Agathiyar provided for them. In Kallar today, Agathiyar brought in a 6 1/2 feet fiber statue of his and his Guru Thava Murugan, a miniature granite statue of his, and another 3 feet statue of hills in the hills behind Kallar, and most recently the 1 1/2 feet tall one faced Rudraksham weighing 7 kilos, now standing as a Shivalingam. To add luster to His divine presence, now fully present at Kallar, Agathiyar has come as the Jeeva Nadi! One can see the gradual progressive evolution of the Peedham to its present state, made more accessible to the public and the common man.

Similarly Agathiyar in the very first Nadi reading of mine, told me to worship the Siddhas, worship Him (Agathiyar), Lord Ganesha, and Lord Shiva. He started me with chanting the Moola Mantra of Ganesha, before the repetition of the Names of the Siddhas (Sidhar Potri). In the process, he came in the physical form, that of an idol. He gifted me his Moola Mantra, brought me to the worship of the Jhoti or light in the physical form as a lighted Agalvilakku, and along the way he included Lord Murugan. Now in the form of a Mantra, he advocates chanting of Lord Murugan's namam that was representative of Oli (Jyothi) or light, bringing me to Oli Vazhipaadu or worship of the Lord in the form of light, Arutperunjhoti. A beautiful journey indeed!

TEMPLE WORSHIP AND THE SACRED SPACE PART 3/4

In 2005 Tavayogi took me to Palani. We picked up my brother from Trichy. It was night as we arrived at Palani. We spent the night at a lodge and started for the temple on first light. Once the doors to the temple were opened, we stood in the presence of Lord Murugan. Again, as in 2003, I do not remember nor recall those moments at the Lord's sannadhi. Once I came around, we were already making our way out into the open, took a flight of steps and were at Bhogar's samadhi temple. Tavayogi sat down to meditate and we followed suite. After some time Tavayogi arise and made his way into Bhogar's samadhi chamber. An elderly priest showed the arati and started to explain about Bhogar and how his generation had been serving the sage. I looked around the room and again there were 4 priests as before, but this time around the path from Lord Murugan's sannadhi and this place was very 'different' from what I stepped in, in 2003. I walked over to the same spot I sat on my last trip. After a moment we all left the chamber via the exit door only to be met by one of the young priest who waited on us as we entered the chamber earlier. He had a tumbler in his hand. He handed it to Tavayogi, saying, "Abhisega milk." An immediate thought came to me that instant,"Oh my God! it was happening again!, I am receiving the Abhisega milk again." Tavayogi had a sip, and passed the tumbler to my brother who took a sip too. He handed it to me and I gulped the milk down, every single drop of it. Surprisingly there was no conversation between this priest and us. Neither did we say anything to each other regarding this unexpected turn of events.

Tavayogi and my brother went ahead while I began to lag behind. I was experiencing the same state of bliss that came over me in 2003. It was an immensely wonderful feeling, running through from head to toe, touching every cell in the body.  Tavayogi then turned around and stopped in his track. He looked at me and asked, "Yenna Magane?", meaning "What is it, son?" There was this gleam in his eyes, and a wonderful smile on his face as he asked me. I knew too well that he already knew the answer to his own question. He expected me to answer, I suppose, but I just walked up to him and laid my head on his chest!

Jnana Jyothi Amma commented as follows after reading the earlier post,

Shan, Do you remember I told you the same thing happened to me while I went to Palani with Dr.Ram and Balakrishan Menon last year ..??

This kind of feeling..."like ...moving/gliding" on air started as we were entering the Sanctum.

I just couldnt make it to the Sanctum and after that, waiting for that Cable car to take us downhill....I thought I would die. Ram was running hither and tither to get me some fluids....as I was totally loosing my Mobility...coz of Disorientation ..I told him ,I dont feel Dehydrated....but I could neither see nor move my limb.

It was only after I told you about the Miracle that happened at the Foothills, that I actually regained not on my my Composure..but also. my Consciousness...

Similarly the same thing happened again..but to an even greater Intensity at Nattadreshwarar

Temple...that I had to cancel my tickets and travel the next day..

These Temples are High "ENERGY VORTEXES"..

TEMPLE WORSHIP AND THE SACRED SPACE PART 2/4

Some years back Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal related a miracle that took place at his ashram in Kallar over the phone. That was the time my brother, sister-in-law and nephew were in India. On the day of the miracle they were at Kallar and were a witness to it.

A man  approximately in his thirties, dressed in lungi and a shirt, was seen coming up the small hill to the ashram. The man stopped on the path, viewed the whole area and continued his hike. At that moment Tavayogi, my brother and his family were having lunch. Tavayogi questioned who he was and from where he had come. The man spoke, some of his words could be comprehended, while others did not make sense. The man said he was from Kathirkamam. Since he did not like it there he moved to Tiruchendur. Again he did not like it there and came to Palani. He did not like it either at Palani and has now come to Kallar. Seeing the sequence and the names of the places mentioned by this man, Tavayogi felt it strange that it should all relate to the abodes of Lord Murugan. Tavayogi realized then that there was something about this man and he was no ordinary person. The man then diverted his attention to my brother's family and had some advise for them. Finally he called them all into the Peedham and blessed them. He left without revealing who he was.

Tavayogi strongly believes it was Lord Murugan who came that day. Later in October of last year, I managed to document this revelation by Tavayogi on video. Watch from 12.15.

Its amazing how this revelation can be related to what Agathiyar revealed in the Jeeva Nadi referred to in SITHTHAN ARUL as we saw in the last post.

TEMPLE WORSHIP AND THE SACRED SPACE PART 1/4

In the most recent post by Velayudham Karthikeyan, I could relate to what the Jeeva Nadi Guru had experienced then in 2009. After reading Agathiyar's revelation, I can understand what took place some 11 years back as I made my maiden pilgrimage to India in 2003, praying at the Thillai Nadaraja Temple in Chidambaram, the Ekambareswarar Temple in Kanchipuram and the Arulmigu Dandayudhapani Swami Temple in Palani.

The translation of Karthikeyan's post originally in Tamil, is as follows:

"We reached Tiruchendur as directed by Agathiyar. We took a room at a lodge, rested a while, refreshed ourselves and headed for the temple. As there was a very large crowd, there was a lot of noise and din all around."

The Jeeva Nadi Guru and his friends had to look for a quite spot where there could read the Jeeva Nadi, but it was mighty obvious that they will not find one moment of quite and peace in that chaotic place. Surprisingly the God's created the space for them.

"With the question, of what to do now lingering in our mind, we decided to have Lord Murugan's darshan first. There too was a large crowd and much noise. There was not a moment of silence. I was irritated seeing the temple priests shouting as they went in and out. A priest came forward and asked if we wanted to do archanai and if we wanted to get a fast darshan of the Lord. We replied that we would just queue up with the rests, and moved away from there. The free queue surprisingly moved fast. But one could only go a certain distance to get a view of the Lord. As we reached the Lord, a temple official who had been hurrying the devotees till that moment, suddenly moved away. At that very moment something uncomprehending to us happened. All the noise subsided. The arathi was being shown to Lord Murugan. We had a clear view of the Lord's face. I took in the full view of the Lord and registered it in my mind's heart. Something entered me and I went into a state of extreme bliss. A priest came out from the inner sanctum and handed us the sacred ash on a leaf, surprising us."

"Even as we came out looking for a quite spot to sit and read the Nadi, the bliss in us lingered on. None of us even had the thought to speak throughout these moments. The feeling was so wonderful. Only after Agathiyar explained in the Nadi that we realized the reason for feeling blissful. It was all due to Lord Murugan's grace."

Agathiyar later came in the Nadi as the Jeeva Nadi Guru retired to his room after failing to find a quite spot at the temple. Agathiyar says Hanuman was in the statue on the 9th tier of the Rajagopuram at the temple. Hanuman had paid his respects to Lord Murugan earlier, precisely the same time the Jeeva Nadi Guru and his friends entered. Agathiyar was already waiting for them. Agathiyar showed up at 7.22 am and was there till 9.22 am, 2 hours. That was when the Jeeva Nadi Guru and friends entered the state of bliss.

Agathiyar goes on to relate the irritation and sadness they had initially encountered upon entering the temple grounds, due to the massive crowd and antics of the priests. Even Agathiyar agrees that the temple should be quite, blissful, and peaceful. Sad to say, none of these did they encounter at the temple.

Agathiyar reveals to them that the auspicious moment when they had stood in front of Lord Murugan and offered their prayers, was the same moment when Hanuman and Agathiyan had prayed too. That was indeed an auspicious moment where they received the Lord's grace and went into a state of bliss. Agathiyar tells them to drop the negative perception that they had on arrival at the temple. Surprisingly Agathiyar agrees that one cannot change the world (human behavior).

Agathiyar reiterates that Lord Murugan was his Lord, Guru, and Mentor. Agathiyar reveals why he called them over, that they should receive his Lord's grace. Agathiyar starts to retract their paths beginning from the Nambi Malai hills, and then to the Kaveri river banks, and finally to the shores of Tiruchendur, and recounts the amount of blessings that they had received. Finally Agathiyar ends the reading revealing that he was aware that much wrongs are being done there.

I too felt disappointed when I was on my maiden pilgrimage in 2003. At Thillai Nadaraja Temple in Chidambaram the priest drove me up the wall. Everywhere I turned, the priests were asking for money or dakshanai. One young lad who was a priest even asked for my wristwatch. I was disgusted. But I had to perform an atonement there. Not willing to be conned, and not knowing what to do I came around the temple grounds. That is when I happened to see a young priest standing alone beside a Shivalingam. I immediately asked him if he would perform an archanai. He asked that I remove my shirt and began the puja. He performed the puja to my satisfaction. I was happy that I could eventually carry out my atonement.

At Ekambareswarar Temple in Kanchipuram, the crowd was massive and noisy just as the Jeeva Nadi Guru encountered at Tiruchendur. But I had to perform an atonement there too. Saddened by the situation I saw, I came around the temple. It was then that I saw a huge chamber on my left. As I paused to look, a young priest who was standing at the doorway to the chamber invited me in. I followed him. The moment I stepped into the chamber, an electrifying sensation went through my whole body. I was led to an amazingly gigantic statue of Lord Nadaraja in the chamber. I looked up at the Lord with awe and amazement, taking in his beauty. The priests showed the arati and started singing some hymns. At that moment I broke down. I was all alone with my Lord. I went into total bliss.

At the Tiru Aavinankudi or Kulandai Velayudhaswami Tirukkovil, to my utter horror, I was not able to climb the stairs up to the Arulmigu Dandayudhapani Swami Temple in the hilltop of Palani. The legs freezed. I just could not lift them. I was horrified. I pushed myself to the maximum, taking a step at a time, resting in between these steps, eventually making it to the top. I was perspiring heavily, the throat was dry and parched, I was breathing heavily, and was short of breath. I could not understand what was happening then. All was fine until I started the climb. Reaching the top, I looked for a spot where I could drop myself, and literally speaking that's what I did. I leaned against the walls of the shops aligned in rows. The world went topsy turvy, and nausea set in. All I saw was silhouettes of people walking around against a bright light. I thought I was at the verge of fainting. But surprising I was awake and aware. After many moments of just laying there, I eventually came around, got on my feet and started for the temple.

I took the free lane for the darshan of Lord Murugan. There were many devotees queuing up both in front and behind me. Once at the Lord's sanctum a priests relieved me of the bag of garland and stuffs for the abhisegam that I had purchased before the start of my climb. He went inside the inner sanctum. Believe me I do not remember what I saw after that. Only when the priest came out and handed me a packet saying its the Lord's sandal paste, I was brought back to the present moment. As I started to leave, I realized that I was alone. All those devotees who were in the line were no more.

As I came out of the chamber and turned right I came across a door to another chamber on the right. I peeked inside and was greeted by 4 priests. I asked the one closest to the doorway if it was Bhogar's samadhi and he nodded his head. I entered and he showed the arati immediately. Just then a young priest reached for a tumbler from the top of a cupboard and handed it to me saying it was abhisegam milk. I drank it. I thanked him silently. As no other devotees came in after me, I decided to use that precious moment to sit and meditate. After a moment as I opened my eyes again the priest was standing in front of me. He handed me some flowers and the sacred ash. As I left Bhogar's chamber into the open I was literally 'floating in bliss'. I came round and round the temple umpteen times moving in bliss. Finally I left. Its been 11 years now and I still do not understand why I had encountered so much difficulty going up Palani then.

SIDDHAS & WORSHIP PART 2/2

Only Shivavakiyar can explain what he meant, and to whom these stanzas were directed.

If there was only one path, Shivavakiyar would not have spoken about sariyai, kriyai, yogam and gnanam.

Both Ramana and Shivananda had tackled this situation in a very amicable way.

Talking of the innumerable ways of different seekers after God, Ramana Maharishi said,

“Each should be allowed to go his own way, the way for which alone he may be built. It will not do to convert him to another path by violence. The Guru will go with the disciple in his own path and then gradually turn him into the supreme path at the ripe moment.”

Similarly, Swami Shivananda advises aspirants on the spiritual path,

“Let each man take the path according to his capacity, temperament, and understanding. His Satguru will meet him along the path. Listen to all, but follow one. Respect all, but adore one. Gather knowledge from all, but adopt the teachings of one master. Then you will have rapid spiritual progress. Once you choose your Guru, implicitly follow him. God will guide you through the Guru.”

Ramana Maharishi explains further the concept of moving from Bakti to Jnanam,

“Everything comes from within. First, the man feels that he is bound, in the bondage of Samsara, that he is weak and miserable and that unless he leans upon and gets help from God who is all-powerful and can save him, he cannot get out of bondage and misery. Thus he makes Bakti to Ishwara.”

“God, Guru and the self are the same. After your Bakti to God has matured you, God comes in the shape of Guru and from outside pushes your mind inside, while being inside as self he draws you there from within. A disciple after enlightenment told his Guru, “I now realize you lived in my innermost heart as the one reality in all my countless births and have now come before me in human shape and lifted this veil of ignorance. What can I do for you in return for such great kindness?” In addition, the Guru said, “You need not do anything. It is enough if you remain as you are in your real state”’.

“When this Bakti develops and the intensity of his devotion is so great that he forgets his entire self and becomes Iswaramaya and complete surrender has been achieved, God takes human shape and comes as Guru and teaches the devotee that there is but one self and that that is within him. Then the devotee attains Jnanam by realizing the self within him and then he understands that the Ishwara or Lord whom he worshipped and had Bakti for, the Guru who came in human shape and the self are all the same.”

“We are not creating anything new or achieving something which we did not have before. The illustration given in books is this. We dig a well and create a huge pit. We have not created the Akasha in the pit or well. We have just removed the earth, which was filling the Akasha there. The Akasha was there then and is there now. Similarly we have simply to throw out all the age-long Samskaras which are inside us, and when all of them have been given up, the self will shine, alone.”

SIDDHAS & WORSHIP PART 1/2

In my last post on GRATITUDE & SURRENDER AT THE LORD'S FEET, I had posted photos of devotee's total surrender.

Supramania Swami, my first Guru was a Shiva Bakta, who has since 7.2.2007 gone into samadhi. Swami worshiped all the Hindu deities. Agathiyar told me in the Nadi that since Swami was the one who "opened my eyes", he asked that I worship him once a week. Agathiyar told me to place a garland, worship and meditate at Swami's samadhi when I have the opportunity to go to Tiruvannamalai in the future. Agathiyar wanted me to  feed the poor in remembrance and honor of Supramania Swami. Supramania Swami, before he went into samadhi had requested me to send funds so that on completion of his tapas or mauna virudham of 60 days, which he started on the eve of Thaipusam, he could feed 1000 people. But Swami went into samadhi immediately after a couple of days into performing the tapas. I managed to fulfill his last wish of providing food and water for 1000 people at the Tiruvannamalai Girivalam path through Jnana Jyothi Amma and Swami's family only in October of 2013.

Tavayogi had traveled the length and breadth of India during his days of a turavi or mendicant. When I was with him at his Kallar ashram in 2005, he took me to many of these places that he had been to, including temples, samadhis, caves, jungles and mountains. Present day Kallar has the Aaru Aadhara Peedham, a 6 1/2 feet fiber statue of Agathiyar, an equally majestic statue of Thava Murugar, a miniature granite statue of Agathiyar, another 3 feet tall granite statue of Agathiyar placed in the hills of Kallar, a 1 1/2 feet tall, mystical 1 faced Rudraksham weighing 7 kg gifted by a mysterious sadhu, and a Jeeva Nadi that is read for the public on Saturdays and Wednesdays. If Tavayogi wanted us to move on to the Gnana Margam, Agathiyar has directed otherwise.

Jnana Jyothi Amma has traveled vast, visited many temples, many years back, even before she moved to the USA. On returning to India in 2011, and within a short span of time she has gone on an extensive pilgrimage to temples and ashrams that she had once visited in the past and many many more that were shown to her lately.

I had been personally told by Agathiyar to worship him, the Siddhas and all the Gods in the Hindu theology/pantheon. Agathiyar asked that I contribute towards the construction of temples too. Agathiyar even asked that I construct a temple for him. This was all mentioned in my very first reading of the Kaanda Nadi in 2002.

Later in 2009 Agathiyar instructed me to have his bronze statue, a replica of him at Agasthiyampalli made and worshiped at my home, Agathiyar Vanam before placing him at the Sri Jegathguru Raghavendra Mrithiga Brindavanam in Ipoh. But along the way Agathiyar had a change of heart and decided to stay put at Agathiyar Vanam giving my family and friends the honor to continue serving him further. Meanwhile another devotee took up the task to have his statue made and placed at the Brindavanam.

The family and I have been performing the rituals of lighting the sacrificial fire or homam and conducting libation or bathing the statue, according to directives from Tavayogi and Agathiyar respectively, since Agathiyar's arrival on 2.1.2010 till the present moment. Initially I was not keen and comfortable performing rituals. But Tavayogi encouraged me and later, on his visit to Malaysia, personally performed them so that I could learn the finer points and refine these rituals. Agathiyar too revealed some time later. the reason for asking me to perform these rituals. After hearing these revelations my family and I put our heart, soul and mind into it.

Some time back when my wife and I went to see my friend, Siddha practitioner and astrologer Dr Krishnan, he spoke about a Swami who was putting up in his office space. The Dr told me the Swami had an ashram in a neighboring state. At that period in time he was in India. The Dr wanted me to meet him as he too was into the path of the Siddhas.

After having met two wonderful Gurus, I did not want to meet anyone else. My search had ended. I was satisfied and had a sense of fulfillment. Even Agathiyar in the earlier Nadi readings had asked that I meet Dharmalinga Swamigal of Kollimalai, Kundrakudi Adigalar, and Rengaraja Desigar (again), but I told Agathiyar I was not keen any more. I had him (Agathiyar), Supramania Swami of Tiruvannamalai and Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal of Kallar. I did not wish to meet another Swami. I suppose Agathiyar listened to my stand on this matter, because he did not persist nor bring up the subject again in the subsequent Nadi readings.

So when Dr Krishnan was giving me a very brief run through about the Swami, I just listened.

Some time later, the Dr called me to inform that the Swami had returned from India, and I could see him at 5pm that evening. I thought the Dr would not pursue this matter, but it seemed he always had me in mind. As I was obliged to the dear Dr in many ways, so when Dr Krishnan very much wanted me to meet that Swami,  I had to give in and submit myself to meet him that evening.

As I arrived at the Dr's office, the Dr and the Swami had just returned to the premise too. The Dr introduced us and went into his room to attend to a client. I was left alone with the Swami in the office lounge. I started the conversation asking about him, and his ashram, because I knew very little about him. He told me he was on the path for the past 30 years, was running an ashram and had 20 to 30 disciples under him. He had just returned from India where had perform tapas and meditation for 3 months. He was currently putting up at Dr Krishnan's office premise and was scouting for a convenient, conducive place where he could continue his tapas. A question struck me then. What could be more conducive than one's own ashram. He could always shut the door if he wanted privacy and let the senior disciples manage the ashram in his absence or during his retreat.

He then questioned me on how and what I was doing, as Dr Krishnan had introduced me as someone on the path of the Siddhas. I told him how I came to read the Nadi, worship the Siddhas, worship Agathiyar in my home in the form of a statue, and performing the Homam and Abhisegam.

Almost immediately he recited Shivavakiyar's hymn that we are so familiar with, "Nattu Kallum Pesumoh Naathan Ull Erukaiyil", meaning "Could the stone speak when the Lord was within?".

I had to point out to him again that what I was doing was all based on Agathiyar's instruction in the Nadi. But he was harping on Shivavakiyar's songs and he went on with a couple more hymns, implying that what I was currently doing was wrong and that meditation was the only way.

I told him I was a beginner on this path, it has only been 5 years now, and I was an infant. I need a statue, to worship, whereas he has been on this path for 30 years, and might not need it.  Just because he does not need it, it is not right to condemn other's believe or practice. Let everyone grow up or advance at their own pace.

This went on for some time until I stopped listening. After a while when I opened my eyes he was not there. I presumed he had gone into his room. I left the place, puzzled as to why Agathiyar arranged for this incident to happen and what was the lesson that I had to learn from it, and for that matter maybe the Swami too had to learn something from this.

I realized that there was indeed something good from this confrontation. Coming back home, I went through the whole of Shivavakiyar's works (524 stanzas) in one sitting. Going through his works, it seems Shivavakiyar had opposed temple worship, all forms of rituals and worship of form. But Shivavakiyar before starting to render the Shivavakiyam, had coined a prayer for Lord Ganesha too!

We are told that Tirumular had taken 3,000 years to compose his TIRUMANTIRAM, coming out of his meditation and rendering a stanza before going back into it. Hence, he delivered one stanza a year, 3108 in total (Kasitirumadam Publication, Tiruppananthal)

In TIRUMANTIRAM: FOUNTAINHEAD OF SAIVA SIDDHANTA, is given as follows,

Legend as it that the sage (Tirumular) retired to a cave where he would sit in samadhi for a full year without moving. At the end of each year he would break his meditation long enough to speak out a single Tamil verse giving the substance of that year's meditations. He wrote over 3,000 verses in all.

Ramalinga Adigal started with worship of the form and moved on to the formless and eventually the light, over a period of 51 years. His experiences have been documented in  chronological order in Ooran Adigal's publication of  his, "Complete Poetical Works of Sri Ramalinga Swamigal -TIRUARUTPA".

Similarly Shivavakiyar too could have delivered the stanzas over a long period of time. So one would have to identify at what stage in life he had come out with those verses opposing these practices.

Well as Tavayogi told me one would be showered with praises at times and would also be barraged with criticisms, it is all part of growing up.

I do not know what miracle took place that day because, I saw the Swami participate in Agathiyar's Guru Puja held at a temple some time later.

GRATITUDE & SURRENDER AT THE LORD'S FEET PART 2/2

The saints have sung about the Glory of the Lord's feet and how they have held on to them (the holy feet). For instance Manikavasagar in his TIRUVASAGAM sings, "Unnai Chikkena Pidithen Engu Yelunthu Aruluvathu Eniye" in his PIDITTHA PATTU.

A traditional hymn praises the Holy feet of the God's

A quote from the ‘GURU GITA’ by Swami Muktananda sums it all up beautifully.

Dhyanamulam gurur murthi, the root of meditation is the guru’s form; The mind that contemplates the guru eventually becomes the guru.
Pujamulam guroho padam, the root of worship is the guru’s feet; Because the Kundalini Shakti flows continuously from the guru’s feet, it is beneficial to worship and touch them.
Mantramulam guror vakyam, the root of mantra is the guru’s word; His word is a mighty Mantra.
Mokshamulam guroho krupa, the root of liberation is the guru’s grace; The guru’s compassionate glance is the means to liberation and supreme peace. Without the grace of a guru, there is no knowledge and no state of meditation.
