NADI READING NO 6

In the 6th reading on 9 September 2006, Agathiyar surprises me when he spoke about both my gurus and why I met them. Agathiyar is glad that I took heed of his words and journeyed to India with Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal accompanying me to caves, samadhi's and temples. Agathiyar is please that I had adhered to his instructions to receive Teecha from Tavayogi earlier. Then he speaks about receiving my very first Guru Supramania Swami's blessings at Thiruvannamalai. Agathiyar says that Supramania Swami lighted the fire of devotion in me while Tavayogi nurtured it. Agathiyar ask that I be grateful to Supramania Swami by remembering him. Agathiyar speaks about the passing of the baton from one guru to the next.

ERAI & GURUS COME TO OUR AID

An excerpt from Barefoot in the Heart: Remembering Neem Karoli Baba edited by Keshav Das posted at https://www.ramdass.org/daughter-sleep-well-tonight/ brings sadness but at the same time shows the greatness of Gurus in bringing relief to those suffering.

Looking around us, we see suffering all around us. The compassionate Buddha, when he learnt about peoples suffering, seeked to find out the reasons for one's sufferings. Man wants a way out of his misery. He tries his level best to overcome his problems but it is of no avail. Then he seeks external help. He prays that all his problems will wither away. He goes in search of saintly persons who could help him. Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal tells me not to pray for sufferings to go away, which would not happen, but to pray that Erai gives us the strength and shows us a way to overcome these sufferings.

I was told that people often approached Supramania Swami for a reading of their horoscope or to receive talismans which they hope would bring some relief to them, besides coming for some words of encouragement and motivation. One such incident happened when I was with him in 2005. A lady and a relative showed up at the Kudil looking sad. The lady began narrating her problems. She was been abused physically and verbally by her husband and in laws. Supramania Swami listened through. I thought he would give some advice maybe ask her to by patient and pray that her husband and his family would change for the better. To my surprise he told her to leave him and start life anew! On hearing him say that she gave a loud laugh. She thanked Supramania Swami and left laughing all the way.

When my daughter was knocked down by a car while riding pillion on a bike, and was immobilized for 9 months, I had no answers when she asked me why it had to happen. We were devotees of Agathiyar. Agathiyar was conveying many things to me through the Nadi reading. But he did not indicate anything about the impending disaster. Neither did he warn us so that we could take precautions. But when I seeked to know what to do next, whether to go for alternative medicines or follow what the medical doctors have advised, through the Nadi reading, Agathiyar shows the way. He explains why it had to happen, shows us the options available and advises us on our next move. Agathiyar says the accident had to happen but he was there to save my daughter's life.

Similarly Bala Chandran Gunasekaran hit a car and sustained minor injuries. Agathiyar, later in the Nadi reading, said that he was there and took Bala into his arms preventing something more severe from taking place. On another occasion, Bala hit a dog that crossed his path as it was dark. The dog died. He was spared again. The irony is that Bala had just read the Nadi a couple of hours before the incident. One would wonder why Agathiyar did not forewarn his favorite disciple? Although Agathiyar did not say a thing in the Nadi reading, he was on hand to save his child again.

I was warded for 4 days when I came down with the dengue fever recently. So was my second daughter a year back. Agathiyar revealed to Surendaran Selvaratnam in his Jeeva Nadi reading at Kallar that he was there at her hospital bed with Thirumular and helped increased my daughter's platelet level. We were amazed when Surendaran called us from Chennai and passed on this message to us.

Surendaran too fell from his bike sustaining minor injuries. A Vastu consultant I knew in Kuala Lumpur, knowing pretty well that he was undergoing the 7 1/2 year period of Saturn's influence in his charts, took all the necessary precautions. But just as Saturn was leaving, a passing vehicle hit his hand as he placed it out to indicate that his friend was making a right turn, while riding pillion on a bike in Chennai. He broke a few tiny bones of his fingers.

My wife was warded some time back and a procedure needed to be done on her. Fearing for her, as the procedure involved injecting into her spine, I seeked Agathiyar for advise. Agathiyar described the procedure the doctors were about to do, exactly just as she had heard it from them. He told her to go ahead with the procedure and that he would be with her throughout the time.

Mataji Sarojini Ammaiyar lost her husband in a freak accident involving his bike. Tavayogi too met with an accident when he was knocked down by a bus while riding a bike. It took several months for him to fully recover too. When I asked him why the mishap was not prevented, Tavayogi very humbly told me he too had karma that needed to be settled.

NADI READING NO 4 & 5

Nadi Nool Aasan Ramesh called me over on 19.8.2005 for a reading. Agathiyar surprised me with a much awaited explanation, when he explained what took place at Palani Temple during my maiden pilgrimage in 2003. After alighting from the car I had worshipped at Thiruavinankudi at the base of the hill before picking up prayer items at one of the numerous stalls at the foothill of Palani Temple and beginning my climb. As I took the first step, I could not move my lower limbs. They felt extremely heavy. I had to force myself and use all my energy to move them. I was sweating profusely. My throat was parched and dry. I was breathing heavily. I forced myself to climb the hill. When I reached the top of the hill I looked around for a spot to lie down. I saw a row of shops and walked towards it. I dropped my frame on the ground, leaning to the wall of one of the stalls. All around me I saw white light with silhouettes of people moving around and speaking loudly. I lay there for some time before it began to clear.

After a while I stood up and made my way to Lord Murugan's sannadhi. I stood in line with the other devotees to have a darshan of the Lord. A priest among many approached me and asked if I was doing offerings or archanai. I nodded. He took possession of the stuffs I had purchase earlier. I stood before the Lord's sacred space or sannadhi. I saw nothing. After a few minutes the priest returned with my offerings and handed them to me. He had packed together some sandal paste that had adorned the Lord earlier. I did not know the significance of this sandal paste until I read an episode from the Jeeva Nadi Guru of Chennai's revelation of Agathiyar's Nadi in 2014, where a similar paste given to a man who had consumed poison saved him from death.

Until today I cannot recall having seen Lord Murugan at Palani, even after having gone to Palani again accompanied by Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal later in 2005. As I left the sannadhi and moved on onto a corridor, I turned a corner and came across an open door. There was a priest standing near the door and another at a desk or kalla petti and yet another young man standing with folded arms in the middle of the small room. I ask the priest closest to me if it was Bhogar's samadhi, he nodded his head and immediately lighted up the camphor and showed the flame or arathi to an altar. As I moved across the room to the exit door across the room, I realized that I was all alone with the priests and there were no other devotees around. I decided to sit for a while. As I walked passed the young priest with folded hands, he reached out for a tumbler placed on a cabinet and handed it to me. He told me it was libation milk or abhisega paal. I drank it and handed over the vessel to him. I took my place on the floor near the exit door. After a few moments as I opened my eyes again, the priest who was now standing in front of me, handed me some sacred ash or vibhuti prasad and flowers. I picked myself up and left the room thanking him with a nod of my head.

As I walked out of the room onto another corridor and into the open I was in a state of bliss, practically 'floating in the air'. I was walking effortlessly, as if riding on a float, magic carpet or chariot. It was so blissful. I came round and round the temple not wanting to end that blissful walk. Eventually I decided to return to the car and started my descent down the hill temple. I was figuring out what had taken place at Palani that day for the next 2 years. Agathiyar decided to explain in the Aasi Nadi after 2 years. Ramesh did not record the reading but read out from a pre written transcribe on paper. I was taken aback when Agathiyar told me it was he who asked Lord Murugan to pass the milk. Since this incidence I call Palani the Twilight Zone.

On 20 December 2005, I had another reading just after I returned from my second pilgrimage to India. Agathiyar mentions why I left for India immediately after Tavayogi returned home. Tavayogi took me along to Siddha spots, samadhis and caves, introducing me to them. Agathiyar mentions that he is gratified with the prayers held at home for the Siddhas. Agathiyar confirms how he appeared at Papanasam, Courtallam and Agathiyampalli. Just as he performed miracles in India, Agathiyar promised to perform the same in Malaysia.

NADI READING NO 3 (+ NADI READING NO 2)

When I met Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal in Malaysia in 2005, I told him I had seen the Nadi in 2002 and was asked to worship the Siddhas. He told me that I had come to the right place and that I could learn about the Siddha path at the Agathiyar Gnana Peedham at Batu Caves that he was about to officiate in a few days time. He asked if I had seen the Gnana Kaandam. When I told him I have to see the Nadi again as told by Agathiyar, as I was 45 then, he immediately passed me Nadi Nool Aasan Ramesh's telephone number. That evening Tavayogi gave teecha to my wife and me and several others.

I called Ramesh for an appointment but was told that he would get back to me. As Tavayogi was about to leave for India after officiating the local branch of his Peedham, I wanted to get the reading before he left. I called up Ramesh and he asked to come over on 15 August 2005. He recorded the reading on an audio cassette and passed it to me. Agathiyar in the reading told me the same thing that Tavayogi told me, that I could learn from the local affiliated branch. Agathiyar also asked me to see Tavayogi immediately that night and get a teecha. I was puzzled. Why again? Anyway I called up Tavayogi as advised by Ramesh and told him I was coming over to the Peedham immediately. I dropped in at the shops and purchased fruits and garlands before heading to see him. Once there Tavayogi came into the adjacent meditation hall after excusing himself from the group of devotees assembled and having a satsang. He asked me what was the matter. I told him I had seen the Nadi with Ramesh and was asked to get Teecha from him. Tavayogi was equally puzzled. Yet he called me over and I handed him my Guru Dakshanai or gifts. If Tavayogi had given a mantra teecha earlier, now he touched my shoulders and sent me off.

I returned home excited to play the tape only to discover that it was erased mysteriously after a few minutes! I called Ramesh informing him about the erasure. He was equally surprised since he had recorded and played a portion to ascertain the recorder picked up his voice, before the actual reading began. Ramesh read the Nadi again on 18 August 2005, re recorded it and made a transcribe this time in event it was erased again. I was surprised that the local Peedham was not mentioned anymore and visits to Thiruvannamalai and a few other additional temples were included. I understood that my reading was mysteriously and miraculously changed after seeing Tavayogi again that night.

If the earlier reading only mentioned Palani, after seeing Tavayogi, Thiruvannamalai, Kallar, Agasthiyampalli and Courtallam were included in the re reading. Agathiyar promised to open his eyes at Agasthiyampalli, which he did to my amazement. Surprisingly Agathiyar talks about the erased reading too. Agathiyar talks about the greatness of his path or Margam, and the greatness of Tavayogi and his Kallar Ashram.

I have posted a portion of the reading below. The original reading tapers to a hiss after a few minutes. The re recording begins with the accompaniment of temple drums that could be heard from the Karpaga Vinayagar Alayam next door.

  • Dear Shanmugam - I got up this morning to discover that you had indeed replied to my question on YouTube as to where to get more information. I spent most of this morning reading your very well-written blog! Thank you for response and your blog. My introduction to Agastya and siddhas started a while back following the agasthiar.org website, and more recently when I started reciting His "Karya Siddhi Malai", and various prayers to Sri Lalitambika. I am Malaysian, resident in Singapore for a long time. A quick question: are Nadi astrology readings available in KL? How could I arrange for one? Thank you very again and God Bless. I look forward to hearing from you and to watching your live streaming events soon.
And he did get a reading eventually.
  • Dear Shanmugam - I spoke with Ramesh just now, and shall plan to visit him shortly in Brickfields for the Nadi reading, with his translator (as I am sadly not proficient in Tamil). Thank you and best regards.
  • Hi Mr. Shanmugam, I was going through your blogs....which were very inspiring in the spiritual path. Thanks for sharing your experience. One help I require....I was interested to go for a reading to find out some solutions to my problems. So can I seek divine help from Swami Tava Yogi...
The biggest encouragement comes from Agathiyar himself through the numerous Nadi readings. Agathiyar initiated me into the worship of the Siddhas in the very first Nadi reading when he asked that I pray to Lord Vinayaga, Lord Shiva, and the Siddhas. After the Nadikku Dhanam, an offering to the Siddhas and the Nadi Nool Aasan for their blessing and a Nadi reading respectively, the Nadi Nool Aasan initiated me into the singing of the praises and names of the Siddhas. After a year of reciting these Sidhar Potri daily, Agathiyar introduces me to Supramania Swami. Supramania Swami lit the flame of devotion or Bhakthi in me. I shared my journey to India and my meetings with my Guru through the website indianheartbeat. A couple of years later Agathiyar introduces me to Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal of Kallar Ashram. Tavayogi nurtures me further.  I began to post my experiences through this blog too. Agathiyar to my amazement, in recent Nadi readings, encouraged me to carry on blogging. Along the way, Agathiyar suggested that I live telecast my prayers at Agathiyar Vanam through live streaming too, which I do at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/siddha-heartbeat

The above is a portion of my very first Nadi reading based on my thumb print, read by Nadi Nool Aasan Sentilkumar of Avinashi. I was blessed by Agathiyar with the reading on 14 December 2002 in Malaysia. I was fated to read the Nadi only when I turned 44 years of age. In the Pothu Kaandam, after an elaborate session on my present life, and linking it to my past life, I was asked to perform atonement or parikaram both in Malaysia and India to reduce the effects of my past karma. Agathiyar also mentioned that devotion and prayers help overcome obstacles and hurdles. In the Santhi Kaandam, my past birth was mentioned. Agathiyar ask that I pay tribute to the Siddhas and their Nadi and the Nadi Nool Aasan respectively. I was started off on the path of worship to the Siddhas with a recitation of the names of the Siddhas and a small puja to them. Next the Theecha Kaandam was read. I was asked to chant Lord Ganapathy's mantra, worship the Siddhas and Lord Shiva. Finally I was blessed with the Gnana Kaandam that was to be revealed only then. Agathiyar lead me to his worship and that of Lord Shiva too. I was blessed to meet my Guru and take up certain practises. Agathiyar explains how karma, besides placing obstacles in our path on the material plane, also jeopardises our spiritual advancement. Agathiyar mentions elsewhere that we can gain maximum benefit from our yogic and spiritual practises only if we had taken steps to confront our past karma.

Just as Agathiyar mentions, I meet Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal when I turn 45. Tavayogi was gracious enough to take me in as his student and impart his knowledge and experience. I was asked to further visit other places of worship. I went on a pilgrimage to India to carry out my atonement in 2003, a year after reading this Nadi and again in 2005 accompanied by Tavayogi this time. Agathiyar graciously paved the way for me to begin pranayama practises through the Nadi itself. Agathiyar asked that I help build a temple for him. When my first Guru Supramania Swami intended to build a temple for Lord Murugan in Thiruvannamalai, I thought the temple would materialize through him. But it was not to be. Now I realize that it was to be the new temple that Tavayogi is building near Kallar.

I was given several tasks to perform which I did as told. True to the readings Agathiyar has guided me the past 13 years through the numerous Nadi readings, 50 to date. I shall share portions of these readings with readers of Siddha Heartbeat beginning with this post over the next few weeks, in the hope that you shall join hands and walk the path of the Siddhas in healing the world and its people. Let us start with helping out Tavayogi in his venture to build a temple cum ashram near Kallar. Let us channel our forces to bring his vision into a reality.

ALL ABOUT LIFE

I will end my working career in December of this year. Although I could go another 4 years, I thought it was enough having put in 36 years. When I mentioned sometime back about my intent to retire to my mother, she asked me to continue working. Then my family doctor Dr Jaswant questioned me as to why I wanted to retire as I was fit and healthy. But one day I decided to go ahead and submitted my papers for optional retirement. I told my wife. She did not have any reservations. My application was approved. I called up my guru Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal and informed him that I have opted to retire early. Tavayogi was excited and asked me to come over, "Engu vanthirunge magane".

When Nadi Guru Aasan Ramesh called me over for a reading recently, and has I sat in his room while he went over to the adjacent room to get my Nadi, I wondered whether Agathiyar would endorse my decision to retire early. To my surprise, Agathiyar blessed me and gave me the green light to do so. Yes although it was my 53rd Nadi reading, Agathiyar never fails to surprise me!

With both my Guru and Sathguru's blessing behind me I feel reassured that I had done the right thing. I realized at one stage, life is not all about work. Life is not only about going to school, getting an education, joining the workforce, getting married, raising children, and working till the end. There must be more to life.

Tavayogi left his family when he was 50 years of age to become a monk. When my family and I were with him at his Ashram in October of 2013, after Tavayogi gave us the privilege to sing the praises of the Siddhas during puja for two consecutive days, he blessed us and mentioned that he had a worry and that that worry was gone. He had seen the fruits of his labor, having sowed the seed of faith and belief in Agathiyar and the Siddhas in Malaysia since 2005. Today he tells me his life long wish to leave something behind for mankind had materialized. He is in the midst of building a temple complex for Agathiyar and the Siddhas. Tavayogi was the one who initiated the Guru Puja, a celebration and festival at his Kallar Ashram to commemorate Agathiyar's Jayanthi as an annual event. Tavayogi too started the Sarva Dosa Nivaarana Maha Yagam that is the highlight of the two day celebration at Kallar.

My first guru Supramania Swami too had a lifelong wish to build a temple for Lord Murugan. Some time back I read about a person in India who had taken upon himself to plant a tree a day, hence leaving behind something for prodigy. His selfless service in creating a forest that has now become home to numerous animals. "The forest, which came to be known as Molai forest, now houses Bengal tigers, Indian rhinoceros, over 100 deer and rabbits besides apes and several varieties of birds, including a large number of vultures. A herd of around 100 elephants regularly visits the forest every year and generally stay for around six months" - Source http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jadav_Payeng. Ramalinga Adigal envisioned and built the Sathya Gnana Sabai at Vadalur before attaining jhothi at 51. All great men leave something behind, whether physical or in the form of a teaching.

Dharmalinga Swami of Kollimalai, who now resides in Thiruvannamalai, mentions in a story. Once a Siddha came along to claim his disciple who was very much attached to the worldly affairs. The disciple told him that his mother wanted to see him married. The Siddha left. Some time later, he came back again. The lad told him that his mother wanted to see her grandchildren. The Siddha left. Again he returned after some years. The lad said his mother wanted to see her grandchildren married. The Siddha thought that enough was enough. He asked his disciple to get him a tender coconut to quench his thirst. As his disciple climbed the coconut tree and held on to its leaves, the Siddha gave out a shout from the ground, "Stop! Are you holding to the leave or is the leave holding on to you?', he asked. As if hit by a lighting bolt, the student came to a realization that he was indeed holding on to life and followed his master without another word.
