AGATHIYAR VANAM MALAYSIA PART 1 - FROM DAY ONE

What started as prayers for the Siddhas by an individual in his home, slowly began to grow through the grace of Agathiyar and the Siddhas into a loosely knit family of devotees treading a similar path, the path of the Siddhas.

Agathiyar Vanam Malaysia (AVM) eventually took shape to fulfill the desire of its Patron Guru Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal and the Moola Guru Agathiyar and also to fulfill the needs and thirst of these new seekers.

AVM jumped on the bandwagon and used the social media effectively to popularize and spread the teachings of the Siddhas. The blog Siddha Heartbeat (http://agathiyarvanam.blogspot.my/) brought many good souls to AVM while Agathiyar did his part sending new devotees over through his Nadi readings.

Siddha Heartbeat through its numerous posts and media became a showcase to promote the workings of the Siddhas, highlighting the mystical and mysterious world of theirs.

The postings on
helped towards this noble cause.

The various digital publications too helped spread the worship of the Siddhas.

AVM's websites helped promote the Siddhas further.
It has been a year and nine months since the AVM Whatsapp group was formed too. It was formed to provide a platform, again bringing together devotees of Agathiyar, who began to frequent Agathiyar Vanam Malaysia and also those who followed its activities from afar, to interact and connect online and via cyber. Hence AVM expanded its wing to take in devotees from abroad too. Invitations were sent out and today our strength stands at 93.

AVM has managed to stay focused and in tune with the teachings of our great mystics and Siddhas, that service, charity and worship complement each other and shall lead one to the gates of heaven.

This group has been a platform for us to share our spiritual thoughts and those of others. It has also created an avenue and platform for all devotees to come together in service to others. Thus Thondu Seivom and later an offshoot of AVM, Amudhasurabhi took off, the former started by a group of energetic and industrious youngsters to provide assistance and service to the community and who eventually came forward to assist AVM in all its activities; and the latter to solicit and channel donations towards the sustenance of its numerous goodwill activities.

Amudhasurabhi has been managing and channeling funds and provisions monthly to the following:
  • Provisions and groceries for the Pusat Kebajikan Cahaya Permata Hati, Semenyih
  • Provisions and groceries for the Pusat Jagaan Insan Istimewa, Semenyih
  • Provisions and groceries for the immediate inmates of the Persatuan Kebajikan Vivekananda, Petaling Jaya
  • A select provision in bulk to provide for several families in the Klang Valley, channelled through the Persatuan Kebajikan Vivekananda, Petaling Jaya and
  • A monthly contribution in cash for the Pothigai Meals on Wheels program hosted by the Agathiyar Universal Mission (AUM). AUM feeds the poor and homeless on the streets in Kuala Lumpur once a month.

Thondu Seivom besides helping out in various ways through their own programs, have been of great assistance in coordinating and running activities of AVM too.

Bala Chandran took the Thondu Seivom/Amudhasurabhi concept into his family circle and his family is now engaged in holding monthly annadhanam activities too

Both Amudhasurabhi and Thondu Seivom and its sub-group have been doing a wonderful job. AVM takes this opportunity to thank this wonderful team of youngsters for their ideas, time and resources. AVM also thanks all those charitable souls who have been contributing towards all the programs and activities either through their services or in cash and kind.

AVM took a big step and extended help beyond the shores of Malaysia by channelling funds to aid the flood victims in Chennai last year.

Besides the above AVM has supported its mentor, patron and Guru Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal to see through his desire to build a temple/ashram for Agathiyar in Kallar India. The Kudamuzhukku Vizha or inauguration of the new temple/ashram/meditation hall complex at a new site, will take place on 16 December 2016 followed by the Annual Agathiyar Jayanthi and Guru Puja and the highlight of this event, the Sarva Dosa Nivaarana Maha Yagam on the 18 December 2016.

In spiritual mode, AVM devotees carry out individual prayers to the Siddhas in their homes besides coming together on occasions to sing the praise of the Siddhas and hold Satsangs, the latest being the nine days of worship of Agathiyar and the Siddhas in the homes of AVM devotees. AVM has taken another bold step in stepping into the confines of temple grounds to conduct the Siddha puja with the blessings of the Siddhas.

I believe AVM has remained faithful to the words of the Siddhas, periodically carrying out worship of the Siddhas and regularly and consistently providing aid and assistance to the needy, helpless, homeless and suffering.

AVM'S SIDDHA PUJA PART 2 - In the Temples

AVM took the home prayers and homam to another level when it received the blessings of Agathiyar and the Siddhas and several temple managements to conduct these Siddha Puja at their temple premises.

Asokhan who invited Agathiyar to his home in KL, later changed the venue to his mother's home in his hometown of Karai near Kuala Kangsar. But on Agathiyar's arrival deferred his earlier decision and requested that we conduct the Yagam and Abhsegam for Agathiyar at a small temple under a Banyan tree nearby. As we started the Yagam early since we were told the temple priests had had a showdown with the temple management and quit his job abruptly the night before, in walks a new priest asking to do the Puja. He waited for us to complete our Yagam and then he started the temple puja taking the earlier priests to task for not complying with rules and agamas and having done the rituals the wrong way. He taught a young boy who was an assistant priest the proper way to perform the rituals at this particular temple. After the puja was over and he took his seat, I approached him and asked if he would oblige and honor us in conducting the abhisegam for Agathiyar which he readily and gladly did. It was a wonderful moment to see Agathiyar drenched in sixteen kinds of abhisegam items. What surprised us was that the priest had walked into the temple reminding all those present that he would have to leave by 5 in the evening; but stayed to conduct the abhisegam and further prayers till 9 pm.

Dr Thiagarajah and the Dengkil Sri Mayuranathar Alayam/ Pamban Swamigal Thirukovil Temple President Sri Maniam extended an invitation to hold a celebration for Agathiyar after they having held successfully a similar Vizha for Arunagirinathar earlier in January. AVM immediately took up the offer and together with the temple management saw through the celebrations with great success.

After conducting Agathiyar Vizha successfully and with the blessings of Mayuranathar, Pamban Swamigal, Agathiyar, Arunagirinathar and the Siddhas, the temple management requested AVM to lead the Sathru Samhara Siva Subramania Trisathi Homam too. Saravanan Palanisamy of AVM took up the challenge and massive task of conducting this powerful Yagam with the rest of the AVM family members and the temple committee lending  its support.

Sri Krishan of the Agathiyar Universal Mission (AUM) then extended an invitation to hold an Agathiyar Vizha in conjunction with AUM taking over the puja rituals for Agathiyar at the Arulmigu Agatheeswarar Sannathi at the Sri Raja Sakthi Nageswary Amman Temple at KL EcoCity in Bangsar. AVM and AUM jointly hosted this festival. With the temple president Sri Supramaniam ushering in Agathiyar to his temple, and personally conducting a complete Sodasa Puja especially for Agathiyar, it was indeed a blessed day with another attraction thrown in the form of the Yagam conducted by Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal and Mataji Sarojini Ammaiyaar.

To our surprise Sri Jaganatha Swamigal's disciple and Tavayogi's guru, Chitramuthu Adigal through Agathiyar's Jeeva Nadi requested us to introduce Siddha and Sapta Rishi worship and conduct a similar Yagam at the Taiping Thanneermalai Sri Thandayuthapani Temple. This too was done with Tavayogi taking the lead.

Tavayogi lead us on another Yagam conducted at his Paramaguru the Sri Jaganatha Swamigal Sivalayam in Tapah. Earlier AVM and AUM, while on a spiritual yatra or tour, had performed a Yagam at this temple with the blessings of Sri Jaganatha Swamigal and approval from the Temple President Thiru Krishnan.

These were proud moments in AVM's journey on the path of the Siddhas.

AVM'S SIDDHA PUJA PART 1 - In the Homes of Devotees

Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal started me off on the path of the Siddhas with a short prayer before Agathiyar's painting at my altar in my home when he came over and graced my home for the very first time on 31st July 2005. Since then we had Agathiyar in the form of a bronze statue made at the instruction of Agathiyar in the Nadi. Agathiyar again asked us to perform abhisegam or libation on his statue through the Nadi. We we instructed to conduct the homam or lighting of the sacrificial fire pit by Tavayogi. On another visit to our home some years later, Tavayogi conducted the homam and abhisegam where we learnt the finer points of conducting these rituals by watching him and Mataji Sarojini Ammaiyaar do it.

Homam & Puja during Agathiyar Jayanthi & Guru Puja of 2010

Later Tavayogi conducts the Homam & Puja during his visit

We conduct the Siddhar Puja at the homes of devotees
Another Agathiyar Jayanthi & Guru Puja at AVM
So when Tavayogi arrived in Malaysia recently, I wanted him to similarly start AVM family members off too on the worship of the Siddhas in all their individual homes. The idea was well received and hence Agathiyar, Tavayogi and Mataji joined us in nine days of worship of the Siddhas in the homes of devotees.
