THE SIDDHAS COME KNOCKING ON OUR DOOR PART 3

Going through the THIRU ARUTPA, we see how Ramalinga Adigal had pined for love, compassion and blessings from Erai and finally Erai came to his abode at Siddhi Valagam in Methukuppam to deliver him. Similarly Ramalinga Adigal went in search of his disciple, also named Ramalingam.

Ramalingam, who later came to be addressed as Kalpattu Aiya, was doing severe penance praying for further guidance and to be shown to a guru, was met at his door by Ramalinga Adigal. Even long before Ramalinga Adigal's arrival, Kalpattu Aiya was shown a vision of the saint. Ramalinga Adigal took Kalpattu Aiya as his disciple but told him to continue his tapas and he shall send word to him when Kalpattu Aiya was to join him in Vadalur.

Years went by when one day Kalpattu Aiya had an intuition to go to Vadalur. Arriving at the Dharma Salai, Ramalinga Adigal motioned him to go to Chidambaram and continue his tapas for another 6 months. After 6 months Ramalinga Adigal sent word to him to return to Vadalur. Once at Vadalur he was tasked to administer the Dharma Salai besides continuing his austerities. After Ramalinga Adigal merged with Erai in 1874, Kalpattu Aiya carried out his duties diligently, as usual. One day in 1902, Ramalinga Adigal materialized before Kalpattu Aiya! In that joy Kalpattu Aiya's Atma left him for the abode of Erai. Ramalinga Adigal took care of his disciples last rites and samadhi!

Pattinathar laments that his disciple Pattaragiriyaar had been taken to the abode of Erai but Erai has yet to shower his grace and blessings on him. Erai tells him that he would also gain entry into Erai's kingdom. Erai promises him the day the upper internode in a sugarcane turns sweet that is the day he shall have access to Erai's kingdom. The day comes when indeed the upper portion of the cane was sweet and Pattinathar rejoiced in merging with Erai.

When Surendaran Selvaratnam wished to buy a Paadha Ratchai or the symbolic sandals worshiped as the Holy feet of Erai and the Vaasikol or the staff used by Yogis to alternate their breath, he could not find one. He left it at that. When Tavayogi gifted me with a new set of Paadha Ratchai and Vaasikol in Kallar, late 2013, I gave away my current set that I was worshiping to Surendaran. Later in a Jeeva Nadi reading at Kallar, Agathiyar tells Surendaran that he had come to his home in the form of the Vaasikol!

Similarly Agathiyar came to Agathiyar Vanam Malaysia in the form of a bronze statue. He had initially wanted to stay for awhile before moving to the new Jegathguru Sri Raghavendra Mrithiga Brindavanam but changed his mind and remained with us at AVM.

THE SIDDHAS COME KNOCKING ON OUR DOOR PART 2

The Siddhas and Erai show their presence through numerous miracles from the simplest gesture of providing an umbrella to the ultimate fulfillment of the desire in attaining enlightenment. My colleague Muralitharan Saminathan and I used  to frequent the vegetarian restaurants in Brickfields often during our lunch break. Once just as we drove into Brickfields it suddenly rained cats and dogs. Murali parked his car in the lane between the Sri Karpaga Vinayagar temple and the row of shop houses where the restaurant was. We could not get out of the car as he did not have an umbrella in the car. We waited. Suddenly the thought strike me if Agathiyar would provide us with an umbrella, as Agathiyar was in the form of a bronze statue at this temple. I then told Murali that Agathiyar was there in the temple. Murali turned to me and asked, "What! Do you suppose Agathiyar will give us an umbrella?". Almost instantly a man who was all these while waiting in front of the restaurant, started walking towards us with an umbrella. We thought he was another customer making his way back. Suddenly he stopped short of the car door and indicated us to step out! He lead us to the restaurant where Murali and I sat looking at each other in amazement! Agathiyar did come knocking on our door - this time it was a car door!

Following the path of devotion and compassion from young, Ramalinga Adigal pleads to Erai to open the door to his Kingdom, through his devotional rendering the THIRU ARUTPA, 10 beautiful verses (3832 - 3841) titled SIVAYOGANILAI.

The most compassionate Erai, instead, comes seeking him at his abode in the dark of the night and hands him 'something' in his hands! Ramalinga Adigal sings 100 verses (3060 - 3159) describing this moment in his ARUTPRAKASA MAALAI.

Eventually Erai gives him the key to his Kingdom and the staff of authority to carry out his five duties.

GURU PURNIMA PRAYERS AT THE SRI JEGANATHA SWAMIGAL ALAYAM, TAPAH

Jeganatha Swamigal who was born in India in 1814, at eighteen, left for Burma. At thirty, he tracked down to Malaya through Thailand. He worked as a brakeman with the Malayan Railways, serving at Tanjong Malim for four years. He lived in Baling for eight years where the local folks looked up towards him as a a spiritual man and addressed him as Swami. He left for Singapore, later, stopping over at Taiping, where he was mistaken as a spy by the Burmese security forces loyal to the British in Malaya. He was put behind bars. Surprisingly he was released the next day without any interrogation. At Seremban too, people began to take notice of him as a spiritual man. He moved on to Teluk Anson where he did extensive charity and fed the poor.

Towards his end Jeganatha Swamigal settled in Tapah, building a hut for himself near a Chinese graveyard. He continued his sadhana and tapas or austerity here. He purchased three acres of rubber land in the vicinity and allowed the locals to build their homes on his land. He lived a simple life never making himself and his powers known to others. He lived alone. Often he used to be seen in loincloth and pranksters made fun of him calling him a lunatic.

When the time came for him to go into samadhi, Jeganatha Swamigal asked to be buried alive but the authorities in Malaya did not allow that. Therefore, he dictated that his followers leave an opening with a pipe protruding in the concrete floor. He most probably went into another living thing, an art known as Kudu Vittu Kodu Paaiyum Vitthai, thus appearing 'dead' in his present body, that was then laid to rest. He must have entered, back into his body later, through the pipe that was now laid in the ground connecting his samadhi chamber.

Jeganatha Swamigal went into samadhi at 4.30 am on 25 January 1959 in Tapah. He chose a full moon and a Thaipusam day to go into samadhi. An eyewitness mentions that a flash of light was seen emerging from his samadhi at that moment of samadhi.

A Shivalingam was installed above his samadhi. The locals collected funds to build a Shiva Temple. In 1980, philanthropists N. Arumugam Pillai of Penang built a small hall. Later in 1990, A.V. Pasupathy Pillai of Malacca renovated the Shiva temple.

Jeganatha Swamigal lived for 145 years. He had three disciples: Chitramuthu Adigal from Panaikulam, India, Veemavar from Indonesia, and Sathyananthar of Sudha Samajam, Malaya.

Prayers are held annually on Guru Purnima and the day after Thaipusam.

When a colleague of mine accompanied his friend and family to Jeganatha Swamigal's temple some years back, the saint gave a darshan to the friend's two year old kid. It was past midnight and they decided to stay overnight at the temple. As their baby was crying for milk, the couple attended to the infant, while the elder girl roamed the temple grounds. Suddenly she let out a sharp cry that brought everyone running to her. The father kept questioning her as to why she was crying. Finally she pointed to a painting of Jeganatha Swamigal and told her dad that "Grandpa had carried me!"

Uvaraj was mysteriously brought to Jeganatha Swamigal's temple one dark rainy night. All he knew was that he had driven his car into the temple grounds. He got out to enquire from the temple priests what temple it was. When told it was Jeganatha Swamigal's temple, he sat down to meditate and immediately sensed the presence of the saint.

I had accompanied Tavayogi, Mataji and Jnana Jyothiamma on their visits to Malaysia, taking them to Jeganatha Swamigal's temple. Yesterday, my family and I stopped over at the temple again. I managed to interview Thiru G Krishnan, the chairperson of the temple committee, on how he came to this temple, and regarding the upcoming Guru Purnima celebrations and Malaysian Hindu Sangam's intent to start a Hindu College in the vicinity of Jeganatha Swamigal's temple.

THE SIDDHAS COME KNOCKING ON OUR DOOR PART 1

The Siddhas and Erai do come knocking our doors, literally speaking!

My mother and mother-in-law used to narrate a true story. Once a Sadhu turned up at their childhood home asking for food. The elders invited him as it was the customary to do so and offered him a seat and some water to drink. The occupants then excused themselves and retreated to the kitchen. They had no food to serve the guest. Their stock of grains had been used up, with only a few grains left in the vessel. They were in a dilemma not knowing what to do next. One of the family members picked up enough courage to address the Sadhu and apologized to him, telling him that there was no more grain in their home. The Sadhu immediately asked them to look into the vessel again. They all proceeded to the kitchen leaving the Sadhu behind. On examining the vessel, to their astonishment and surprise, the vessel was full to the brim with rice grains. They excitedly and eagerly came back to report to the Sadhu only to find him gone. In his place was a very old book!

My father too had a story to tell. As he was from India, once he was on a pilgrimage to Palani. He started on foot from his home at Kilsevalpatti, taking days to walk to his destination. One day as he approached the outskirts of a small village along the route, a pack of stray dogs surrounded him and began to bark ferociously. Fear crept in and he cried out the Lord's name, "Muruga!" Immediately a bee appeared from nowhere, and flew into the ear of one of the dogs and stung it. The dog gave a loud cry and ran away in pain. Almost immediately all the other dogs scampered away too!

Supramania Swami had a story to tell too. He had his guru Yogi Ramsuratkumar knock on his door one day. It was 11pm. The Yogi stood at the doorway of his home in the village of Nachaananthal, grinning and holding a bunting of his painting in his hand. He handed it over to Supramania Swami and left immediately. Swami took after him but the Yogi disappeared into the darkness!

The Yogi dropped in again when I was at Supramania Swami's kudil at Thiruvannamalai. Swami lead me on a chant of the Yogi's name. After a few minutes into the chant I heard another voice, chanting together with us. I had my eyes closed, but I was pretty sure there was no one around then. Swami continued the chant for about twenty minutes and then stopped. The voice too stopped. I opened my eyes. There was no one around except for both of us. I wanted to ask Swami about this incident but the thought slipped my mind. On returning from Kallar Ashram after a few days, as I alighted from the car, Swami immediately reminded me about the puja, and asked if I had heard a voice. I recalled the third voice chanting with us and told him so, asking who it was. He laughed saying it was the Yogi!

In both this incidences surrounding the Yogi, it was amazing to note that the Yogi had already gone into samadhi!

Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal too has many stories to tell about the numerous moments when Siddhas came knocking on his door. A lad walked up the small hillock where his present Ashram is located on one afternoon, some time back. He took his time climbing up the hill, stopping to look around the surroundings as if analyzing and valuing the place. As he stepped into the Ashram, Tavayogi and Mataji invited him to join my brother's family and them for lunch. He answered that he had taken food and started talking continuously. Some things that he said, Tavayogi and Mataji could comprehend but the rest was incomprehensible and did not make sense to them. My brother, sister-in-law and nephew were at the ashram then. After some time he tells them that he had been in Kathirkamam, Thiruchendur and Palani. He has now come to assess this place. This statement sent shivers down the back of Tavayogi. Tavayogi recognized the lad and could relate these places to the abodes of Lord Muruga. The lad immediately hushed Tavayogi up by placing his finger on his lips, invited them into the inner sanctum of the Peedham and blessed all those present. He left shortly walking down the hill till he went out of sight!

Similarly Lobha Ma came visiting Kallar Ashram, introducing herself as coming from Andra Pradesh. Tavayogi and Mataji invited her to spent the night at the Ashram. She spoke many things about Tavayogi and the future of the Ashram. The thought of taking photographs had always slipped Tavayogi's mind, but that moment he asked someone to snap a couple of shots. She willingly posed for the camera standing proudly before the poster of Agathiyar. She excused herself at the break of dawn and walked away and out of sight!

Konganar Siddha too appeared as a vagabond, and spent the night at Kallar, conversing in Kannada throughout the night. The next morning he left the ashram and waited at Thuripaalam, ahead of Tavayogi who goes for his usual morning walk. He called out to Tavayogi and only then did he reveal himself as Konganar and vanished!

The most astonishing story is yet of a Siddha knocking on the doors of Kallar Ashram and handing over the equally astonishing Rudraksham that is now worshiped at Kallar Ashram as a Shivalingam, to Tavayogi. A few days before Agathiyar's Jayanthi and Guru Puja, Tavayogi is startled by a knock on his Ashram door. A typically clothe Sadhu stood at the door with a huge bundle. He handed it over to Tavayogi asking him not to question him. When Tavayogi returns with some tea he realizes that the Sadhu is gone!

Jnana Jyothiamma has numerous stories to tell too about her encounters with the Siddhas.

A very old man turns up at the residence of Jnana Jyothiamma provided by a staunch die-hard devotee of Lord Murugan in Palani.  Jnana Jyothiamma invites him in. He gives a loud laugh before stepping in. Suddenly and to her surprise he starts to speak about the mystical Rudraksham that was delivered to Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal at Kallar Ashram some time back. After awhile he asks Jnana Jyothiamma for water to quench his thirst. She fetches the water in a tumbler and hands it out to him. He drinks the water, thanks her and surprises her by giving her a peck on her cheek. After he leaves, she was 'driven' to look into the tumbler. What does she find? The water she served him in the tumbler was replaced with honey!

After descending from Palani and while waiting for her driver to fetch the car, she took a seat in the shade, slowly massaging her tired legs that had lately been torturing her. Out of the blues a kid appears and brings up a vel that he kept tugged at his hips. He uses the tip of the vel to massage her legs. After a while he turns around and runs up the temple steps disappearing from sight!

The Siddhas knocked Jnana Jyothiamma's door to extend an invitation to her to come to Vadalur. Jnana Jyothiamma had called an electrical company to send their personal over to replace the lamps in her apartment. Shortly a young chap appeared and asked if she had called for assistance. He gets to work immediately. Along the way he ask for a drink and continues working. While at work he brings up a conversation on Ramalinga Adigal and Vadalur. Jnana Jyothiamma is all excited learning about the saint. The lad leaves shortly. Only then Jnana Jyothiamma realizes that she had not paid him.  She calls up the electrical company and informs them that she had not paid their staff. The office personal who attended to her call informs her that the spare parts had been purchased and were at his office and that they have yet to send their staff over to replace the lamps! Who did come then?

She receives a mysterious call from a lad called Kandhan to come over to the Nattadreeswarar Temple in the middle of Kaveri river. True to what the lad had said all arrangements were made for her to be at the temple on Karthigai Deepam day to witness a special and extraordinary puja and yagam. An elderly priest and a lady await her arrival at the banks of Kaveri river at Kangayampalaiyam. The priest and Jnana Jyothiamma take the coracle to cross the waters of the Kaveri to the temple complex perched on a rock in the middle of the river while the lady stays on the bank. After witnessing and having participated in 8 Abhishekams and one massive yagam performed at the temple in a single day, Jnana Jyothiamma, dazed and exhausted, makes her way to the coracle to return to the opposite bank of the river and return back to her home. She lays her head on the lap of a woman as the coracle makes its way in the dark to the opposite bank. Upon alighting she questions who the lady was that she had placed her head on, and was jolted by the answer that besides her, the young priest who accompanied her and the boatman, there was no one else in the coracle!

Another shock awaited her when she enquired about the elderly priest who waited and accompanied her over to the temple. She was informed that the priest had already arrived at the temple as early as 8 in the morning, way ahead of her! Then who did accompany her in the coracle that morning upon her arrival at the river bank?

In her words,
When I thanked the elderly chief priest  (as he was the one who accompanied me in the morning while crossing the river) ..... after everything was over  and in a semi conscious state planning to leave the temple ... he told me that he did not accompany me that morning. "IT MUST BE YOUR APPA .... AGATHIYAN" HE SAID .... Even the ferry man  told me that I was alone that morning and no one had accompanied me? Then Who was this PERSON WHO TOOK ME OVER IN THE MORNING ?
Secondly, who was the lady on whose lap, I laid my head while returning from the Temple in the Coracle. SHE WAS EVEN KEEPING HER HAND ON MY HEAD. IT WAS SOOTHING ... SO SO SOOTHING. As I did not see the lady as I alighted, I asked for her to which the other priest who accompanied me told me there was no lady .. only we three were there!

EXPERIENCING BLISS PART 1

Rao Saheb. K. Kothandapani Pillai, B.A., in a forward to Dr.C.Srinivasan's AN INTRODUCTION TO THE PHILOSOPHY OF RAMALINGA SWAMI wrote,
The philosophic thoughts and spiritual experiences (of Ramalinga Adigal) are scattered all over his 6000 verses (40000 lines) and his discourses with his disciples and comments.
According to Dr.C.Srinivasan, Ramalinga Adigal speaks about several experiences that one attains.

  • achievement of the Divine Life (Uyiranubavam),
  • experience of the Grace Supreme (Arulanubavam), and
  • experience and realization of God Supreme (Sivanubavam)
These experiences take place in the

  • body of Love (Anburu or Suddhadeham),
  • body of Grace (Aruluru or Pranava deham) and
  • body of Bliss (Inburu or Gnana deham) respectively.

Dr.C.Srinivasan explains further.
The Achievement of the Divine Life (Uyiranubavam)
This is the preliminary state in which the soul is to enjoy in full the real and natural happiness it is entitled to without any restraint. A human being of this world from the moment of successful fertilization in his mother’s womb suffers from some thing or other. In fact the sufferings which he has to undergo are also born along with him. The Swami (Ramalinga Adigal) has narrated the miseries of the fetus before birth and those of the child after birth in one of his great petitions to God. For those who take the sufferings of life seriously, life is monotonous. All seers of knowledge, ascetics of various ages and saints of different creeds and countries have been worrying about the miseries of life in this world. No living organism on earth or elsewhere will be happy to part with its own life. Life is sweet to all living things and death is always painful even to the highly enlightened souls. All the great saints and sages who have discovered solutions, ways and means to avoid the miseries of life, death, rebirth and so on preached only devotion to God. The Swami also, like others before him in the line of descent of saints, stated that one should get out of the bondage for being bound to the boundless God Supreme. In other words the soul has become divine and dwells in the Grace of the Supreme God.

Our very first task is to become divine and one with Erai through divine pursuit and seek the Grace of Erai.
The Experience of the Supreme Grace (Arulanubavam)
Now what is this state of divine experience? This is called (Arulanubavam) the experience of the Supreme Grace. The soul of this plane of Paranatham dwelling in the Supreme Light of Grace in a blissful state and enjoying the sublime achievement and experience of the soul (Uyiranubavam) and having been endowed with the sanctified golden body, is subjected further more to the hold of the Supreme Grace fully and completely for the evolution of the next higher plane. This transcendent plane of experience of the Grace (Arulanubavam) is achieved by divine pursuit. The soul is to enjoy the Supreme Grace.

The divine soul is entertained bodily as a part and parcel of the Supreme Grace and is permeated through and through. It is enshrined in the Divine Grace as an ever-existing and omnipresent object. It is to be found within the plane of Parambaram. The profundity of the Grace Supreme is inconceivably pleasant. It exists pervading the universe as an inexplicable entity. This experience of the divine aspirant is known as the experience of the Supreme Grace (Arulanubavam). Words fail to explain the different aspects of this blissful stage. The body of the divine aspirant transforms itself into an incarnation of Grace.
With Supreme Grace descending on us next we become one with Erai.
Experience of the God Supreme (Sivanubavam)
The third and the ultimate state of the aspirant is the complete realization of the God Supreme (Sivanubavam). This is the most sublime and the highest plane of the most auspicious Godhead (Suddha Sivam). This is the all-pervading, all-knowing, all-embracing Super-Being. It is only at this plane that complete realization and complete merging with God is accomplished.

Here and here alone the great realization “He thou art, thou art He, Ye enjoy in Him” is achieved. The Supreme combustion results in the inseparable monism of the highest order. This plane of transcendence soars higher and higher into the most superior Godhead. It is inconceivable, uninferable and unimaginable even by the heavenly powers and divine beings and deities of high order.

This sublime achievement of the aspirant culminates in the complete union with the Lord Supreme for the eternal enjoyment of Supreme Bliss for ever and ever after. The experience of the Swami at this plane have spontaneously and profusely overflown into many of his melting verses sung in ecstasy.

THE NEW SRI AGATHIYAR GNANA PEEDHAM

Brochure informing the intent to build the new Sri Agathiyar & 18 Siddhas temple complex at Kallar
A sample receipt that is issued to donors

The Agathiyar 12,000 (verse 331) mentions that the hills of Kallar is where Agathiyar and Supramaniar had meditated.

As such the Sri Agathiyar Gnana Peedham was set up at the present site under the directive of Agathiyar. Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal who had completed his pilgrimage of temples, caves and Siddha Samadhis and had done extensive austerities or tavam at these places, finally intended to go into samadhi. He was then instructed by Agathiyar to seek out a place known as Agathiyar Vanam to set up his ashram. Tavayogi with the approval of the local village head set up a simple structure with thatched roofs at the present site. Tavayogi was then instructed by Agathiyar to install a 6 Aathaara Peedham made of granite. Following this, development was brought to the surrounding area in the form of resettlement of the native Indians in their new homes, which provided an opportunity for Tavayogi to carry out his free feeding programs and other charities.

Meanwhile Agathiyar instructed Tavayogi to travel to Malaysia to bring awareness about the Siddhas. The Kallar Ashram grew in size and added on many facilities to accommodate the ever increasing droves of devotees from India, Malaysia and other countries making their way to pay homage to Agathiyar and the Siddhas at this tiny ashram perched on top of a small hillock .

Madam Sarojini who was introduced to Chitramuthu Adigal, Tavayogi's guru, by Tavayogi came to be a prominent speaker after receiving Chitramuthu Adigal's blessings and guidance. Both Tavayogi and Mataji teamed up and spoke in many forums or pattimandrams throughout India. Sarojini who frequented the Ashram regularly to help out, later was ordained a monk, Mataji Sarojini Ammaiyaar, and moved into the Ashram permanently.

Devotees contributed towards the installation of Agathiyar and Thava Murugan in fiber. Mataji was instructed by Agathiyar to bring back the miniature granite statue of Agathiyar she had had commissioned and placed at a Nadi centre earlier to Kallar Ashram. A Sadhu mysteriously appears at the ashram to deliver a magnificent Rudraksham to be installed and worshiped as a Shivalingam.

Tavayogi meanwhile carried out the Annual Jayanthi and Guru Puja celebrations without fail. The pinnacle of the 2 day festivities was the lighting of the Sarva Dosa Nivaarana Maha Yagam. What started with the lighting of 5 fire pits expanded to 108 pits on the instruction of Agathiyar. A trust was then formed to oversee and manage the Ashram.

When the present ashram outgrew in size and facilities, there was an urgent need to move out of the present premises for one that was more conducive. Along comes a good Samaritan who purchased a 2 acre piece of land for building a new ashram.

The Sri Agathiyar Gnana Peedham Trust is currently seeking donations from the public, towards building its new temple complex for Agathiyar and the 18 Siddhas, on this piece of land adjacent to the entrance to the Satchidananda Jothi Nikethan International School (SJN) on the Methupalaiyam - Ooty route, some 2 kilometers from the present Kallar Ashram.

THE SIDDHAS & THEIR NADI

Many have been on the trail of the Siddhas, but very little is known about them, their Samadhis, abodes and their written works. They still remain a mystery. The Siddhas have written and documented extensively on various subjects. Although some of their works has surfaced, but they still remain shrouded in mystery. Some are yet to be deciphered, and many still remain hidden from man.
Lately the Television Networks have joined the bandwagon, searching for Siddhas and anything related to Siddhas - airing them over their channels.

When I was with Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal at his Kallar Ashram in 2005, he found a quiet moment to bring out his massive collection of Nadi or Olai Suvadi that he had. They were of many sizes, length and width. They carried inscriptions that varied from one leaf to another. It was a sight to behold. These were handed to him by many individuals for various reasons. Tavayogi was an ardent follower of the Nadi, Agathiyar having revealed about him, grooming him through numerous Nadi readings, leading him on the path of the Siddhas, eventually to become a Thuravi or mendicant of a nature and stature as at present. Tavayogi showed me a transcript where Agathiyar heals Tavayogi's daughter's broken heart at been separated from the father. Agathiyar consoles the kid that her father has a much bigger mission to carry out. Given the rare opportunity to hold these leaves in my hand, I recalled the last time I saw such Nadi leaves was when I went for my very first Kaanda Nadi reading with Nadi Nool Aasan Sentilkumar of Avinasi who was in Malaysia then.

My very first Kaanda Nadi reading.

The Kaanda Nadi requires that the seeker place his thumbprint sample from which a certain pattern of marks is identified and a corresponding bundle of leaves referred too, singling out the most closest leave that carried the individuals personal particulars.

If the Kaanda Nadi is supposedly written much earlier, the Aasi Kaandam is a gift to devotees who had faithfully listened and carried out Agathiyar's dictates, showering Agathiyar's blessings in real time. Agathiyar blesses his devotee Bala Chandran Gunasekaran in the following Aasi reading read by Nadi Nool Aasan T.Ramesh.

Over the years I was blessed too to receive many similar Aasi Nadi readings through Nadi Nool Aasan T.Ramesh, Kalai and Selvam too.

A devotee who went for a reading of another kind of Nadi, a Jeeva Nadi known as the Gnanaskandar Nadi, was amazingly directed to Kallar Ashram by Lord Muruga to receive Tavayogi's blessing.

Lately Tavayogi had begun to read the Jeeva Nadi too. Letters suddenly appeared in a blank Nadi leaf one fine day at Kallar Ashram. Agathiyar blessed Tavayogi to provide readings to those who came seeking the Nadi for answers. The Jeeva Nadi in Tavayogi's possession addresses the seeker's grouses and answers their questions, in real time, and provides solutions too. Answers appear immediately in response to the seekers thought process and questions.

Sri Ganeshan of the Siddhar Arutkudil too has been delivering Agathiyar's messages for the public, faithfully for some time now. Just as in Kallar, the letters appear in real time, answering questions from the public.

Sri Muthukumara Swamigal who has yet another variation of the Nadi known as the Jeeva Nadha Brahma Suvadi, that was mysteriously formed from a handful of earth from the snake's den,  has been brought into the limelight by a couple of Television networks. The mystical Nadi 'speaks' into the ears of Swamigal, which he then relates to the seekers.

There is yet another interesting mode and style of reading the Jeeva Nadi. Nadi reading made available by a devotee who returned from Courtallam recently.

Hence there appears to be many variations in the way the Nadi is retrieved and a myriad of ways the message is read and delivered for each individual.

SIDDHA VAIDYAM

From Siddha Applied Science Institute's (SASI) webpage at http://www.siddhainstitute.com/about-siddha, we understand the origin of Siddha Vaidyam.
Siddha Vaidyam is understood to have been taught first by Lord Siva to his wife Goddess Parvathy. Parvathy in turn taught it to her son Lord Muruga who then transferred this wisdom to his disciple Agasthya, who spread it amongst humans.
Agathiyar is acclaimed to have spread this ancient medical system to Man.
It is said that when the first leaf of the first plant (It was a grass named karuka) sprouted on earth, Agatshya was there to witness it. Henceforth each plant, each animal, each element, each mineral and each non-living thing that were created thereafter appeared to Agathya muni and explained its innate properties and medicinal values to him.
Dr Krishnan, a Siddha Vaidyar and Astrologer by profession  and proprietor of Hillriche Sdn Bhd, was one of many people who came into my life making an impact and help change my destiny.

It was in the ninety's that I met Dr Krishnan, having being introduced to him by my colleague Sethu. Sethu used to frequently consult  the Dr regarding astrology. He used to speak to me about the Dr. I had given up on astrology then and had shun away from prayers and temples. That is when my mother, sister and mother-in-law each call me up to inquire if I was alright and asked if the other had said anything to me. I suspected something was amiss. I thought that they must have surely seen my astrological chart; and were worried sick over me; fearing some mishap that would happen to me; but could not bring themselves to mention it to me.

So I turned up at Dr Krishnan's office to know what was in store for me, that had scared the guts off my elders. Prior to seeing him I had given my birth details to the Dr over the phone. When I entered his office and introduced myself, the first thing he said was that I had come 'after everything was over'. He added that all shall be fine from that moment on. Thus started a beautiful friendship with my mentor, adviser and friend.

When his clients told me that his predictions were accurate, I was wondering why it did not materialize for me. I asked him without referring to me if his predictions could go wrong. He told me it could if I had curses or sabam. I then asked him to tell me if I had been cursed. The Dr replied that it was not possible to do so looking into the astrological chart and that I had to see my Nadi. That was the very first time I heard about the Nadi. But sad to say, I did not give must importance to it then. Neither did I know about any Nadi reader in Malaysia at that time.

It was only in 2002, when my colleague Murali Saminathan spoke about his experience in seeing the Nadi in the year 2000, that my interest in the Nadi was revived again. Murali made arrangements for me to see the Nadi. Both Sivabalan, who brought in the Nadi readers, and Nadi Nool Aasan Sentilkumar introduced me to the Siddhars further. And hence started a wonderful journey of sheer amazement and intrigue.

Since that day in 1996 till now I have seek advise regarding the stars and consulted Dr Krishnan regarding my ailments.

Dr Krishnan walks us through the basics of Siddha medicine, Medical astrology and the Nadi in the following interview, held last evening.

SRI MUTHUKUMARA SWAMIGAL & THE JEEVA NADHA BRAHMA SUVADI

ZeeTamil network carried an amazing story of how a mystical and mysterious Suvadi or Nadi, Agathiyar's Jeeva Nadha Brahma Suvadi came to be delivered to Sri Muthukumara Swamigal.

I translated the episode, and posted it at http://agathiyarvanam.blogspot.com/2014/08/nambinal-nambungal-episode-23-july-30.html earlier.

"It is said that the Suvadi 'speaks' with its owner. This rare Jeeva Suvadi is not available easily to many, one has to go through much 'tests' by Siddhas and obstacles to possess one. Sri Muthukumara Swami of Courtallam is in possession of this Jeeva Nadha Brahma Suvadi. He was gifted with the Suvadi in 1997. The Suvadi is said to answer doubts of the people."

Vendhar Tv too has also carried a coverage of Sri Muthukumara Swamigal and the Jeeva Nadha Brahma Suvadi.
