THE SIDDHAS COME KNOCKING ON OUR DOOR PART 3

Going through the THIRU ARUTPA, we see how Ramalinga Adigal had pined for love, compassion and blessings from Erai and finally Erai came to his abode at Siddhi Valagam in Methukuppam to deliver him. Similarly Ramalinga Adigal went in search of his disciple, also named Ramalingam.

Ramalingam, who later came to be addressed as Kalpattu Aiya, was doing severe penance praying for further guidance and to be shown to a guru, was met at his door by Ramalinga Adigal. Even long before Ramalinga Adigal's arrival, Kalpattu Aiya was shown a vision of the saint. Ramalinga Adigal took Kalpattu Aiya as his disciple but told him to continue his tapas and he shall send word to him when Kalpattu Aiya was to join him in Vadalur.

Years went by when one day Kalpattu Aiya had an intuition to go to Vadalur. Arriving at the Dharma Salai, Ramalinga Adigal motioned him to go to Chidambaram and continue his tapas for another 6 months. After 6 months Ramalinga Adigal sent word to him to return to Vadalur. Once at Vadalur he was tasked to administer the Dharma Salai besides continuing his austerities. After Ramalinga Adigal merged with Erai in 1874, Kalpattu Aiya carried out his duties diligently, as usual. One day in 1902, Ramalinga Adigal materialized before Kalpattu Aiya! In that joy Kalpattu Aiya's Atma left him for the abode of Erai. Ramalinga Adigal took care of his disciples last rites and samadhi!

Pattinathar laments that his disciple Pattaragiriyaar had been taken to the abode of Erai but Erai has yet to shower his grace and blessings on him. Erai tells him that he would also gain entry into Erai's kingdom. Erai promises him the day the upper internode in a sugarcane turns sweet that is the day he shall have access to Erai's kingdom. The day comes when indeed the upper portion of the cane was sweet and Pattinathar rejoiced in merging with Erai.

When Surendaran Selvaratnam wished to buy a Paadha Ratchai or the symbolic sandals worshiped as the Holy feet of Erai and the Vaasikol or the staff used by Yogis to alternate their breath, he could not find one. He left it at that. When Tavayogi gifted me with a new set of Paadha Ratchai and Vaasikol in Kallar, late 2013, I gave away my current set that I was worshiping to Surendaran. Later in a Jeeva Nadi reading at Kallar, Agathiyar tells Surendaran that he had come to his home in the form of the Vaasikol!

Similarly Agathiyar came to Agathiyar Vanam Malaysia in the form of a bronze statue. He had initially wanted to stay for awhile before moving to the new Jegathguru Sri Raghavendra Mrithiga Brindavanam but changed his mind and remained with us at AVM.
