INITIATION

The very first initiation I received was from Agathiyar, which I did not know until later. He came to Gopal Pillai Swami, the Paramaguru of my nephew, who was visiting his guru in Penang back then in 2001, and asked to be delivered to me. When my nephew came to deliver it, a surge of energy went into him and spell out the mantra, asking me to chant it. It was the Vasudeva mantra. I was told that it was to bring me to my guru. I did as told.

A year later, I came to my Moola guru Agathiyar through my very first Nadi reading. Agathiyar now asked that I chant Lord Ganesa's mantra, which I did. He also told me that I shall meet my guru on my trip to India to carry out my Parikaram or remedies for my past flaws.

The following year, in 2003, at the tail end of my pilgrimage to India after having circumambulated the Holy Hill Arunachala, by divine intervention, I mysteriously landed at the doorstep of my very first guru in physical form, Supramania Swami, whom Agathiyar had mentioned I would meet both in the Nadi and through Gopal Pillai Swami. Supramania Swami took me as his son and disciple and passed me a Siva mantra to chant.

Two years on in 2005, when again by divine intervention I knocked on the door of the Peedham that Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal of Kallar Ashram had come to officiate in Malaysia, with a pamplet on my hand that I had received after my very first Nadi reading in 2002 mentioning his name on it, Tavayogi took me as his son and disciple, giving eight, including my wife and me, an initiation into the mantra of Agathiyar written on a slip of paper.

In all these initiations, there was no physical contact. When I told Tavayogi that Agathiyar had asked that I read the Nadi when I was 43 years of age, and as I was 43 then, in 2005, he pointed me to a Nadi reader, T.Ramesh. Agathiyar, in the reading, told me to get another initiation from Tavayogi the same night, which I did. Though Tavayogi too was equally puzzled, as he had already initiated my wife and me earlier, he accepted the gifts that Agathiyar had asked me to purchase and present to him as Guru Dhakshanai. He gave my gifts back to me and just touched my shoulders in gratitude. That was the magic touch, I suppose.

Later, taking up Agathiyar's directive and Tavayogi's invitation to visit the Kallar Ashram, he tells me on our morning walk that Agathiyar had asked him what he was going to give me. Agathiyar replied that he would let Tavayogi know later. Just before I left the ashram, Tavayogi called me in and initiated me on a Siva mantra.

Thence, my journey took up momentum. On his later visit in 2007, he showed me and several others several Yoga and Pranayama techniques that I began to carry out. Agathiyar, in later years, told me that this was a treasure that Tavayogi had given us.

In 2009, Agathiyar gave me his own mantra in the Nadi too to chant and share with others.

In carrying out the Yoga practice given, this initiated the move of Prana within and activated the Muladhara Chakra. But as Tavayogi says, our effort is only till the second chakra, and so it began to pond and stagnate at Svadishtana. It needed Agathiyar's magic touch and hand to break the bund and release the pent-up energy to reach the far reaches of the Sahasrara chakra, within days in 2022.

When Acharya Gurudasan of Salem taught us Kriya Yoga practices to supplement our existing practice, he did ask why I wasnt teaching the techniques shown by Tavayogi to others. I replied that he taught several of us for our own domestic consumption and never asked to teach others.

But it was not the case with the worship of the Siddhas. Agathiyar began to send many youths over to my home beginning in 2013 to follow, watch, and participate in the rituals that I did at home, namely libation to Agathiyar's statue and lighting the fire pit. We reached out to their homes later and even conducted Siddha puja in temples too. With worship came charity, too, as we offered food to devotees during these events. I guess these seekers had their initiation into carrying out rituals at Agathiyar Vanam Malaysia (AVM), a name that my home took on with their arrival.

In anticipation of the arrival of the pandemic, Agathiyar brought down the shutters to AVM and had them go their way with whatever knowledge they had picked up on these rituals and worship. As for me, he had me go within. Post-pandemic saw him visit the homes of devotees who invited him over. Soon, he brought this to a halt, too, saying he was not moving anymore. He had me teach Mahindren the Yoga techniques I learned from Tavayogi and had him teach the rest of his buddies.

In the latest Nadi reading some days back, read by T.Ramesh again, Agathiyar tells me that my home has become his temple and Peedham, something that he had asked of me in my very first Nadi reading in 2002, and that Lord Muruga too requested in 2018. I was thinking that they wanted a formal temple, as built by many, but Lord Muruga told me that they had tested me and that my home was his temple. If they came and went on transit from Pothigai in the south or Kailash in the north, as they wished in the past, they tell me that my home is their residence now. They partake of the food we take. They listen to the songs we play, asking us to play more. They give their vision to some who turn up while they speak to others. They run the show. They run the home these days. My family is only a witness to their play and Lila.

So what are we waiting for? Let's get on the bandwagon and turn our homes into Siddha temples. Light the lamp. Light the Homam. Light the divine flame within all of us. Let us all become the Light. Let us join the fold of the Siddhas.
