WAKE UP

Wake up. Wake up from your slumber. Come out of your dream. Come out of your ignorance.

One day you will wake up to find only empty rooms and your children have grown up and left your home.

One day you shall wake up to find that no one takes notice or heed of you. You are old and left alone. You are ignored and abandoned.

One day you shall wake up to find that no one sees you no more, for you have stepped into another world. However much you want to help and be part of the world you knew, you realized that you are now helpless.

One day you shall wake up to find you are all alone. Your parents have left you many years ago. Your siblings are leaving one at a time. Your friends too have passed away. Your wife whom you depended on for all the things right from looking for your glasses to cooking and serving you has left too. One by one all the people you knew are leaving. Soon it would be your turn too.

Start thinking what have you achieved in this lifetime. The human birth is rare we are told. How have we contributed to this world? Did I plant a tree that lives to give shade, produces fruit for the birds, squirrels, monkeys, worms and other live forms to feed on; that leaves behind a seed which in turn grows into a fruitful tree serving others without expecting anything in return. Even when fell it still serves as a log that forms a bridge across a stream that aids others to cross a hurdle; goes into the making of a building that houses a family; forms a bench that provides a seat for the weary traveler  or ends up as firewood that heats the home and cooks the meal. How useful was I?

Cherish this day. Hug your wife and kids. Hug your parents. Hug your friends.

This is the wake up call.

Wake up. Wake up from your slumber. Come out of your dream. Come out of your ignorance.
