GIVING DUE RESPECT

When Agathiyar came last evening, he revealed the reason he was moving house. He told us that every murthy or statue of Gods and Gurus has to be worshipped and rituals done. As he had brought a stop to all forms of rituals at AVM, these rituals shall henceforth be continued at Mahindren's house. Hence the reason for this move.

When Agathiyar came in this form in 2010 to my home he directed us in the Nadi to recite his name 100,000 times and conduct libation for him using nine items, telling me that we have to give (breath) life to (into) it.

When a group of devotees initiated the move and placed a bronze statue of Agathiyar at a temple in the city, Agathiyar asked the one who placed him there in the Nadi if it was enough that he place it there and not do the rituals. Now an annual celebration is held here.

Just some weeks back he spoke to the host about the need to recite or chant the name of the gurus if we decide to have their pictures, paintings or photos at the altar too.

Many years back he asked someone who placed a painting of the Siddhas on the wall of his living room whether it was a decorative item.

Statues, paintings, photos and pictures of Gods and Gurus are not decorative items that adorn and beautify the home. We have to respect and pay homage by way of conducting rituals or reciting or chanting their names.

Many years back during my search to learn more about the Siddhas through reading books on them, I walked into a bookshop that also sold statues of Gods. Sadly these were placed on the floor where we tend to accidentally walk into them. I told the salesperson that we should pay respect to our deities, although they are only mere granite stones until the proper rituals are done to energize and bring life to it. On a later visit I was happy to see that they had renovated the shop and had a room exclusively alocated to place all the statues. Nothing was on the floor now.
