Just as television networks compete to gain viewers, YouTubers seek more views, and bloggers' eye readership counts, it is all about numbers and means and ways to achieve the given or desired or competed targets. If only we would target the same in our spiritual ventures. Many believe that there is a standard time to venture into this pool that comes with age. The many child saints though have proved us wrong. When I met Tavayogi I asked why I had only come to know the Siddhas late in life at the age of 43. Rather than give soothing answers he told me to be grateful that it happened then. I came to understand later that many never get to see or get a glimpse of this life.
Today Agathiyar tells me that though he was placing all the efforts to bring about a transformation in me, due to my age I shall have to bear the consequences of raising the energies in old age. Similarly, both Agathiyar and Bhogar told another devotee in her sixties that she will have to go through the pain and discomfort. So did the Siddhas work on Jnana Jothiamma too but Agathiyar told me after her demise that her body could not take it. But as Tavayogi told us that we shall come again and again and work on it and Supramania Swami told us that we shall polish it till it shines, it is a long journey back home unless the divine comes to our aid and hastens the journey.
Here is where the grace of the divine is essential to place the ladder in our home ground and catapult us to higher levels bypassing the number of years if we were to walk on foot as in the game of snakes and ladders. But often on our journey, we tend to stop at numerous places and bridges or arrive at crossroads where we stand and stare and contemplate if we should make the jump, take the leap, or plunge but leave it for another moment as in this clip of a game.
Then again if we were to plan our spiritual undertaking we shall never get started. We have to be swept off our feet by his grace. For that to happen we have to implore and beg of him to come. This is indeed the meaning of carrying out prayers, not asking for our individual needs and desires to be fulfilled, but to have him come and take ownership of us and lead us back to his kingdom. Otherwise, we would spend years roaming and searching for the way that leads us there.
