Our dear doctor, Dr Janar took his medical expertise to East Malaysia flying to the interiors of Sabah to serve those in need of medical attention with a medical team. Returning back to Kuala Lumpur yesterday he describes his experience, in his own words "it was a very soul fulfilling trip for me", and shares photos of the activity.

COMING TO DOING CHARITY
I would walk by a person lying on the five foot way without turning an eye. I would not think of buying someone sitting on the pavement food or a drink. I would not give money to a beggar. I would not help someone in need. I would buy enough food just for myself and not share it with friends and working colleagues. This was me before. This was me before I came to the Siddha path.
The Siddhas through the Nadi recommended that I offer prayers at designated temples. The Nadi recommended I give alms to the poor. The Nadi recommended I feed the animals. The Nadi recommended I give attire to certain sectors of society. The Nadi recommended that I pay homage and give a token amount to the Siddhas for revealing my Nadi.
Soon I met Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal in Malaysia. He showed me photos of his many charitable activities conducted at his Kallar ashram in India and invited me over to see for myself. I took up his invitation and we arranged to serve food to the native children living in the vicinity of his ashram - my very first annadhanam. That day I saw joy in their faces when I served them. There was a sparkle of life in the eyes of these children. It moved me. It gave me joy. I saw a similar joy in their faces. I had brought cheer into their lives. I did another annadhanam and handed out new clothing to them before returning home satisfied and grateful to Erai for all the good things I received in life. Kallar changed me that day. The seed was planted in me by my guru that day.
It took me years to realize that the Siddhas had actually initiated in me the act of giving to others through the measures recommended in the Nadi. Although they were measures recommended to rid or lessen my cumulative karma accumulated over the years and over several births I realized it went far beyond that. Although all these were means and ways to pay off and settle my bad debts these gestures of making contributions opened my heart. The Nadi opened my heart. The Nadi opened my heart to give. The Nadi opened my heart to give to others. The Nadi opened my heart to share with others. If all these while I was receiving from prapanjam the Nadi taught me to give back. The sense of doing charity was inculcated in me for good thanks to the Siddhas and their Nadi.
Although many do these atonements one off and expect to see immediate changes take place I moved on with my life incorporating these gestures into my daily routine. Today I still carry on with the simplest form of annadhanam feeding the birds that come by and perch on the trees in my garden from dawn till dusk daily. I do charity at every possible moment.
Taking the cue from the Siddhas I continued with my daily prayers and charity when several wonderful souls were shown to my home. These youngsters headed by G. Bala Chandran initiated a group Thondu Seivom that went on the ground to do charity on a regular basis and on a larger scale. With funds coming in from close friends and devotees we started Amudha Surabhi to manage and distribute the contributions. Soon we were providing groceries and household items to old folks and children homes. We fed the inmates and spent time with them. We provided students with stationary and eye wear. We ventured to feed the homeless. We saw joy in their faces when they received the food and handouts. We saw them rush to us and encircle us waiting to receive food and clothings.
We have joined the ranks of the Soup Kitchens, volunteer groups that dish out food to the homeless. While most of them distribute at night there are hardly any feeding during the day. Pothihai Tharma Chakkram fills this vacant slot. It serves lunch. This programme initiated by Sri Krishna and his wife Sri Dewi started serving 18 paxs on their maiden rounds and today serve 300.
Although it gives us immense joy in giving, we are not happy to see the increasing number of old folks and children abandoned and living in homes and countless number of homeless on the streets. That is a bad sign. The numbers should diminish. But the reality is otherwise. Many go hungry during the day waiting anxiously for Soup Kitchens to bring them food after 9pm. Some Soup Kitchens have cut down or scaled downed their feeding sessions leaving many hungry.
While the Siddhas have been encouraging us to continue doing charity especially feeding the hungry certain individuals have raised objections to us giving food and hand outs. While many toil the fields to bring food to their table; while many try to make ends meet with their meager earnings; while many risk their lives trying to earn an honest living why should some enjoy life living on charity they ask. They are of the opinion that we are encouraging the public to become lazy. They are against the idea of feeding the addicts. Others have seen the public waste the food given hence stating their stand and rejection on giving free food.
Although we are told to give only to the hungry it is rather difficult to establish the genuinely hungry from the rest. Agathiyar justifies the act of giving charity by reminding us that when distributing food to 10 people there might be 3 who do not deserve it but there are 7 others out there who are genuinely hungry. He tells us to accept the reality that this is a natural law or ulaga niyathi. He tells us to ignore the negative and strive to uphold and strengthen the positive acts.
Lord Muruga extols the benefit of carrying out annadhanam or feeding in devotee's Nadi readings. He says that the path of charity will lead one to the gates of Tavam. He says that, "You shall see me and my devotees via charity. You shall see me in the faces of those you feed. You shall see me in the faces of those who reach out to you for food. The joy in giving will bring you to a state of Paramanandham. What can only be achieved through years of rigorous tapas will be accessible to you in a split second by doing charity. All the Gods and Goddesses are pleased to see charity done. Standing in the path of Dharma will drive away Yama, Lord of Death. In short he says Dharma equals Tapas.
He says that the Atma of those fed rejoices the moment their hunger is appeased. "Lord Shiva enters you precisely at that moment and your soul grows. Your Atma rejoices in giving. As the soul grows in magnitude, Jeeva Daiou sets in. When Jeeva Daiou enters, Shivam arrives. When Shivam comes to reside in you, you defeat death".

TAKING THE LEAD 1
Since time immemorial man has searched for answers to his questions on the world around him, creation and its creator. He then went within for answers to his quest. Many scriptures came to be revealed through our forefathers. We have been adopting these teachings to date, modified and diluted through the ages.
Our forefathers the Siddhas and Lord Muruga have lately been delivering messages and guiding those who would chose to have faith in them through their oracle the Nadi. Their readings and directives are customised to suite each soul or atma. They addressed yearnings and desires of spiritual seekers that included enlightenment, moksha, mukthi and liberation. They also addressed the petty day to day issues brought up by believers.
When there is so much talk about the approaching Siddhar Yugam or Era, Lord Muruga reveals he and Agathiyar shall take birth in every home. We can imagine the enlightened souls that will soon take a body and walk the face of this earth again.
The future is very promising. Let us follow the dictates of the Siddhas and Lord Muruga.

MAYA
Maya came into being the moment Shiva woke up from his natural state of being. All creation then began, was sustained and expired. These is known as Shiva's Lila or play. We are all caught in his play. We take on roles and begin to love our roles. We become attached to all that life has to offer or despise it if it turns sour. In a world of duality we exercise our choice. This is Maya.
Mahakavi Bharathi could not have said it better. He equates all of existence to a dream, a mirage, an illusion, all products of Maya.

This veil called Maya is removed only with Shiva's grace. Maya drops on its own the moment we move back into a state of being. Time then stops and space diminishes.
The moment we move within there is no external world to watch and figure out about. Day and night does not exist. Being black or white is not important anymore. Happiness or sorrow does not touch us. Being a vegetarian or otherwise is immaterial. Territory, boundary and ownership does not weigh. There is no need to understand and comprehend the workings of the world. Everything around us vanishes at that point of moment. Time and space ceases to exist.
This takes place without our effort. This takes place spontaneously in the presence of the divine. This state is conferred on us by the divine. All rational thinking drops. All logic fails. We fall into a state of ecstasy. We cry for no reason. We laugh aloud again for no reason. We will never comprehend that moment.
We revisit the source. We merge with it momentarily. We have a momentary glimpse of it. There is nothing to recall later.
For this to take effect we are put through the four phases of Sariyai, Kriyai, Yoga and Gnanam. We need to live in the world in order to come out of it. Just as the butterfly ruptures the cocoon and takes flight, we wake up from this deep slumber, rupturing from within into a state of ecstasy and bliss and finally into a state of stillness. We need to move from matter to light and finally back to energy.

LORD OF OUR DESTINY
She saw herself lying on the hospital bed. She began to shake her body so violently and call out to her to wake up but to no avail. Almost immediately she was at her home. She watched her little daughter and all sorts of thoughts and fear crept into her. Who was going to take care of her baby and her husband now? Again immediately she was standing at the gates to the Batu Caves Murugan Temple. She could see dark bodies usher her towards them. Then a luminous body appears and motions her to Lord Muruga in the cave temple assuring her that it was only he who could revive and redeem her from death. Next moment she flies over the steps and into the caves. She pleads with Lord Muruga to bring her back to life. Immediately a spark of light from the Lord enters her and she comes out gasping for air at the hospital. She survives the ordeal.
He went out of his body after having succumbed to the dreadful dengue fever a second time. He was confronted by Yama. Mysteriously he began to utter Lord Shiva's mantra. The Lord appeared and took him by the hand while sending Yama back from where he came. He woke up at his hospital bed gasping for air. He then realizes that some three hours plus had passed by since he left his body. Many months later Lord Muruga in a recent Jeeva Nadi reveals that he had come and taken his hand and redeemed him from Yama.
He took upon himself to sweep the floor at Lord Murugan's cave temple in Sungai Siput although he never ever lifted his palms in prayer to the Lord. When he was rushed to the hospital on day, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The temple priest learning about his condition rushed to his bedside and recited the Lord's mantra. The dead arised and lives to tell his tale.
An ardent devotee of Agathiyar went into a state of coma after having a fall at his home. His fellow devotees consulted the Nadi and were told to gather and pray for him. They did just that and he came out of coma and greets us with his tale of survival. Agathiyar in the Nadi reveals that he saved him giving his breath.
His mother was admitted at the hospital. When the doctors gathered together and began to attend to her behind the screens, he knew that his mother's time was up. He cried out to Agathiyar to save his mother. Almost immediately a gust of wind blows in the wards and soon the doctors deliver him the news that they were able to revive her. Agathiyar in a Nadi reading reveals to him that he saved her giving his breath.
When my Guru was hospitalized, the AVM family and well-wishers prayed that he survive. He came through it and accompanied my niece to a nearby temple during her recent visit to the ashram. Agathiyar reveals that the Siddhas had performed a Yagam so that he survives.
When he was wrongfully accused and remanded for having possession of drugs that was found in his car which was loaned to his friends, his wife headed for Agathiyar's ashram and conducted a Yagam. Upon returning to Malaysia the next day she is given the good news that he had been released.

Lord Muruga in the Nadi reveals to several devotees that he had changed their fate and destiny. He had saved some from imprisonment, some from the gallows, and others from death. Lord Muruga turns out to be the Lord of our destiny capable of bringing immediate change in our fate.

CONVERSATIONS WITH ERAI
The morning after I arrived at Kallar Ashram for the very first time, as Tavayogi invited me along on his usual morning walk, he suddenly turned to me and said that Agathiyar had come to him the night before. As he went on revealing his conversation with Agathiyar, I could only nod my head as I walked alongside him. Was that possible? Did he come in the physical form? Is this for real? Or is Tavayogi pulling a fast one? These questions went pass by my mind rapidly as I tried to digest what he was saying. That was in 2005.
Moving on to present times Tavayogi came to read the Jeeva Nadi for seekers coming in search of solutions to their problems. When AVM family members came back from Kallar to share their Nadi readings with me, I too wanted to hear what Agathiyar had to say through the Nadi in possession of my Guru.
Although I was blessed to have numerous Nadi readings through Agathiyar's Aasi Kaandam, I yearned to listen to Tavayogi reveal Agathiyar's message for once through the Jeeva Nadi. When Tavayogi came to Malaysia he surprised us by bringing his Nadi with him. As everyone took turns to listen to Agathiyar speak through the Nadi, my wife and I, knowing pretty well that Tavayogi would say that we don't need a reading, laid a plan to approach him on the pretext of having a reading for our daughter. The all knowing intelligence that we address as Agathiyar saw through our plans and on the onset of the reading told us that we had used our child as a reason to hear him speak. He went on to bless and convey his message.
Just days before AVM's annual fest for Agathiyar, Lord Muruga blessed us with a Jeeva Nadi reading. G. Bala Chandran called up Nadi Guru Tharani Balan and arranged a reading for me, knowing that I would not take the effort to do so. The morning of the reading as Tharani Balan Aiya hugged me at the Sri Karpaga Vinayagar Temple after the annual puja for Agathiyar he told me that Agathiyar would speak to me that day. As I sat in front of him later that evening, Lord Muruga appeared in the Nadi and spoke to my family and me. It was an amazing moment for Agathiyar had given way to his Guru to address us.
As Lord Muruga moved on to mention that he would bring more devotees to AVM, I began to think about the space constrains of my home that already overflowed to the patio during puja. How am I to accommodate more? He surprised me when he immediately asked if I thought that my home would not fit the crowd. He goes on to ask me to build a temple for him. Again I start thinking if the existing temples were not enough. And again he counters my thoughts saying that he was aware of the numerous temples in existence and revealed the reason he wanted me to build one. I realized then that here was I having a conversation with Erai in real time through the medium of the Nadi! Simply unbelievable!
Walking the path of the Siddhas has brought immense joy to us. Although we do not comprehend much of what is happening most of the time but it gives us immense joy in carrying out their dictates to the letter. We are glad we did not remain spectators and pass on disparaging remarks on the Siddhas and their Nadi but came into their fold, held fast to their feet and today are blessed with having conversations with Erai.

WORKING WITH ERAI
Imagine if Ramalinga Swamigal had not shared his experience. Imagine if Manikavasagar had copyrighted his Thiruvasagam. Imagine if all the saints had hidden their discoveries from the public. It is only when they came public that we have come to benefit too.
When I came to this path there was not much material available to the public. Whatever writings on the Siddhas were in Tamil. It was difficult to comprehend the contents. I began to compile hymns on the Siddhas for my own personal prayers including a transliteration for non Tamil speaking devotees at AVM. Soon I posted them online. Today I am told that these compilations are used in many homes and temples too. I am grateful that I was given an opportunity to contribute towards the public by filling the void.
What started as a portal to share my experience during my maiden pilgrimage to India soon included the mysterious and mystical journey I was taken on by Agathiyar, Supramania Swami and Tavayogi. I shared the wonderful moments I had with them including my Nadi readings and those at AVM too, again in English, something that was lacking on the net. Many readers wrote in to appreciate my contribution. I am grateful that I was given an opportunity to contribute towards the public by filling the void.
Then Agathiyar shows me Bala Chandran who goes on to bring his friends and relatives to AVM, and starts a group Thondu Seivom to serve the public.
When Bala Chandran and Vinthamaray took the role of master of ceremony during the recent Agathiyar Geetham audio CD launch, they thanked me for opening my home to them bringing the worship of Agathiyar to their fold. Agathiyar came to my home bringing me to conduct rituals like lighting the homam and performing libation or abhisegam. These rituals were observed and taken back to the homes of devotees. I am grateful that I was given an opportunity to contribute towards the public by filling the void.
Then again Agathiyar brings another soul full of energy to AVM. Sri Krishna and his wife bring their AUM and ideas along. Soon they initiate the Pothigai Meals on Wheels programme to feed the homeless. Lord Muruga renamed this programme as Pothihai Tharma Chakkram in a recent Nadi reading roping in AVM and Sri Agathiyar Arul Nyana Sabai.
Agathiyar brought amazing souls together, professionals in their respective fields, each willing to work and sacrifice for Agathiyar and his mission both in Malaysia and abroad. Siddha Heartbeat and AVM salutes these souls for their contributions towards society and humanity.
I had been asked by Lord Muruga in a recent Jeeva Nadi to build a temple for him. That surprised me because I did not have any desire to build one. I had the opportunity to meet and talk to Rebecca from Australia during our recent Medical Camp. Master Yuvaraj had spoken much about her to me. It was an honor meeting her. Based on the things I had heard about her and her spiritual journey I opened the subject to her seeking her opinion. I told her that I did not desire to build one explaining the reasons for it too. She listened to my reasons and then on the contrary told me to do it. She told me it was not a question of my desire but theirs. She also told me that the temple was not for me but for others.
Both Tavayogi and Rebecca and Lord Muruga made me realise that to allow or not to allow would mean that I had an opinion about the matter. Instead to just allow things to happen would mean that I was not involved with the decision making process. GK too told me if I held on to my opinion that would suggest I still held on to my ego. By stepping aside and giving way, by just watching, the desires of Erai would take an upper hand. No karma will befall us as we were mere spectators.

Ironically her advise and reason to encourage me was exactly what Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal had told me many years ago. When Tavayogi told me he wanted to build an ashram cum temple in Kallar I questioned myself the necessity for venturing into something that was going to be time consuming and costly and was going to drain the existing limited funds and resources. Then the question of having to maintain the facilities would arise. Anyway he had arrived in Kallar to go into samadhi after having seen most of India seeking the Siddhas and their samadhis. Why would he want to take up this venture now disrupting and moving away from his original desire? Tavayogi answered me in a single statement that it was not for him but for others.
To another request by Lord Muruga that I step aside and allow others to fall at my feet, something I had always disliked and apprehended others from doing, again Rebecca asked that I allow it.
Daily we are shown the faces of samaritans and noble souls who take it upon themselves to bring cheer, happiness, joy, hope and life to those in dire straits and lost.

Dr Janar with Dr Sankari had led us on conducting a medical camp at a old folks home some time back. He had visited a childrens home and dispensed medicine too. Recently he initiated us on another Medical Camp, targeting and attending to the public on the streets. Seeing Dr Ramana serve the poor Dr Janar mentioned his wish, "Watching the video, brings tears to me. I only wish Agastiyar grants me the opportunity to serve like that for the rest of my life."
We are slowly learning to emulate them, learning to live for Erai; to serve him; to do his asking. This gives us immense joy. We are shown that when Erai desires to fulfill his mission through us, all channels open up. Things are simplified and easily accomplished.

SPIRITUAL PROGRESS
All learning has come to a halt after 18 years on the path. Today we at AVM have learned to take one thing at a time. Today we only carry out Agathiyar's instructions. We are clear in our thoughts and mission since there is no confusion as a result of reading numerous spiritual literature. We are clear in our thoughts and mission since there is no confusion too as a result of patronizing or hearing all the spiritual talks by present day gurus.
Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal showed us Guru Agathiyar and stepped back to allow us space to grow spiritually. He refrained from holding on to us and clamping us down with doctrines, ideas, spiritual garbage, do's and don'ts, laws and codes of practice. Instead he encouraged our spirits to grow and be free to explore. He has guided us well.
Listening to the album Agathiyar Geetham we are amazed at the outcome and final product. All we did was to gather together and attempt to write the lyrics. The rest was done by Agathiyar under his watchful eyes at AVM. As one keeps listening to the tracks, he would realize that the lyrics actually portray our spiritual journey beginning with a seeking and a yearning for something out there. Coming to the Siddha path without even an iota of knowledge or understanding of it at all, all we did was have faith in the words of Tavayogi and Agathiyar. We listened to every instruction of theirs. We put into practice all that was said to us. We diligently followed all the rituals, prayers and parikaram stipulated. Today we at AVM have all been uplifted together to another level of understanding.
Just as the lyrics to the song Ariya Payanam spells out the four stages of spiritual development and its required practices, we too have sailed safely through these stages. Rather then seeing all four stages as distinctive levels of progress we chose to adopt all the practices in it, concurrently.

We came as a seeker to the path of Sariyai, serving both Erai and humanity. AUM and its Pothigai Meals on Wheels which has been renamed Pothihai Tharma Chakram since then, served the purpose of giving annadhanam or feeding the hungry, poor and homeless. So did Thondu Seivom and AVM's Amudha Surabhi that reached out to needy students, inmates of old folks and children's homes, the mentally and physically challenged and contributing towards annadhanam at ashrams.
AVM has served well in bringing together seekers and has been a platform for them to take the rituals that they conduct at AVM into their individual homes. Today AVM family confidently carry out these rituals in their homes and in the temples too, uplifting themselves to the stage of Kriya.
With numerous guidance in the Nadi on Yogic pranayama and asana practices and with guidance from the physical guru and masters delivered by Agathiyar, we have been safely guided to the next stage of Yogam.
Today we stand before Agathiyar with folded hands silently seeking Gnana that would complete the course and purpose of our lives.
Throughout this journey, we saw Agathiyar in multiple forms. We came to him as a son. We saw him as our parents. We came to see him in creation as we served man and animals alike. We gathered at AUM to prepare food and later distributed them, feeding his creation and appeasing the one foremost need at all times, hunger. We saw him as guru and Erai and served him, cleaning his abode and making him comfortable. We were happy to serve our master and guru. We had taken the very first step into Salokyam.
We took up worship to him, the Siddhas and Erai. We then saw him come down from his majestic abode and stand by us, encouraging us, motivating us, guiding us, helping us, staying with us 24/7, akin to a force field. He became a companion. He came to us as Sameepiyam.
Today he has come to dwell in our homes and our hearts, bringing a drastic change in our perspective and understanding and also a change in the physical form and within, all necessary changes required to take his form. We came to be Saruupiyam.
We now stand before Agathiyar with folded hands silently seeking Gnana that would complete the course and purpose of our lives that is attain mukthi or liberation and merging with him forever. We await Sayutchiyam with eagerness confident that he would deliver us.

POTHIHAI THARMA CHAKKRAM PROGRAMMES
Here are programs laid out by Sri Krishna for Pothihai Tharma Chakkram. These programs bring us to sariyai that is service to Erai and humanity. After active involvement in Sariyai we can then move on to Kriyai, that is carrying out rituals and prayers. Soon we will take to the many aspects of Yoga and with Erai's grace will step into Gnana finally.
