AGATHIYAR JAYANTHI 2018

If Agathiyar walked this earth some time back in the past and is said to have gone into samadhi, his presence is still seen and felt till this day. It is said that Lord Shiva summoned him and sent him to the south to reestablish and bring an equilibrium and balance to the earth that had tilted as all the Gods and Goddesses and Divine beings and masters had gathered at Kailash to witness Shiva's marriage to Parvathi. Along the way Agathiyar reestablished good values and virtues in people and brought a balance in their lives.

When I was with Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal at Agasthiyampalli in 2005, the "temple priest" pointed us to the very spot where Agathiyar had placed his thumb on the ground to set the earth right.

Logic would tell us that to create a balance both sides need to be equally weighted. So one can deduce the magnanimity and greatness of Agathiyar through this simple episode. I choose to see Agathiyar as equivalent to all who had gathered there at the wedding reception.

In a Nadi reading Agathiyar says that he sits at AVM representing Lord Shiva and Parvathi in their moment of matrimony. Blessed are we to hear this revelation.

Thavathiru Rengaraja Desigar in his book, "Potrinaal Unathu Vinai Agalum Appa", explains, the process through which Agathiyar attained the highest state, that of becoming one with Erai. This state was granted to Agathiyar by his Guru Supramaniar (Lord Muruga). I shall run through a translation of his writing, originally in Tamil, briefly.

All the knowledge to attain the state was made available to Agathiyar by Supramaniar because Agathiyar had provided the space, shelter and all comforts for Supramaniar to carry on with his penances (tapas) and austerities (tavam) in a past birth. Agathiyar was 60 years of age then when Supramaniar attained the body of Light through his tapas, thanks to Agathiyar looking after all of Supramaniar's needs. Supramaniar promised Agathiyar that they shall meet in a subsequent birth and that he shall return the favor.

In the succeeding birth Agathiyar traveled in vain in search of his ideal guru. He eventually met Supramaniar at Kodaikanal, where Supramaniar made him recall the past and as promised in return for all his services in the past birth, blessed Agathiyar and taught him secrets of attaining the state of Erai.

This reminds us of how Babaji brought back memories of the past to Lahiri Mahasaya with his magnetic touch on his forehead.
My first meeting with Babaji took place in my thirty-third year. In the autumn of 1861 I was stationed in Danapur as a government accountant in the Military Engineering Department.
One morning the office manager summoned me. "Lahiri," he said, "a telegram has just come from our main office. You are to be transferred to Ranikhet, where an army post is now being established."
With one servant, I set out on the 500-mile trip. Traveling by horse and buggy, we arrived in thirty days at the Himalayan site of Ranikhet. My office duties were not onerous; I was able to spend many hours roaming in the magnificent hills. A rumor reached me that great saints blessed the region with their presence; I felt a strong desire to see them.
During a ramble one early afternoon, I was astounded to hear a distant voice calling my name. I continued my vigorous upward climb on Drongiri Mountain. A slight uneasiness beset me at the thought that I might not be able to retrace my steps before darkness had descended over the jungle. I finally reached a small clearing whose sides were dotted with caves. On one of the rocky ledges stood a smiling young man, extending his hand in welcome. I noticed with astonishment that, except for his copper-colored hair, he bore a remarkable resemblance to myself.
"Lahiri, you have come!", the saint addressed me affectionately in Hindi. "Rest here in this cave. It was I who called you." I entered a neat little grotto which contained several woolen blankets and a few kamandulus (begging bowls).
"Lahiri, do you remember that seat?" The yogi pointed to a folded blanket in one corner.
"No, sir." Somewhat dazed at the strangeness of my adventure, I added, "I must leave now, before nightfall. I have business in the morning at my office."
The mysterious saint replied in English, "The office was brought for you, and not you for the office." I was dumbfounded that this forest ascetic should not only speak English but also paraphrase the words of Christ.
"I see my telegram took effect." The yogi’s remark was incomprehensible to me; I inquired his meaning.
"I refer to the telegram that summoned you to these isolated parts. It was I who silently suggested to the mind of your superior officer that you be transferred to Ranikhet. When one feels his unity with mankind, all minds become transmitting stations through which he can work at will." He added gently, "Lahiri, surely this cave seems familiar to you?"
As I maintained a bewildered silence, the saint approached and struck me gently on the forehead. At his magnetic touch, a wondrous current swept through my brain, releasing the sweet seed-memories of my previous life.
"I remember!" My voice was half-choked with joyous sobs. "You are my guru Babaji, who has belonged to me always! Scenes of the past arise vividly in my mind; here in this cave I spent many years of my last incarnation!" As ineffable recollections overwhelmed me, I tearfully embraced my master’s feet.

Continuing our story of Agathiyar meeting Supramaniar, Agathiyar mentions that he learnt the Siddha way from Supramaniar. Supramaniar granted Agathiyar the body of Light or Jhothi Nilai in the following birth as appreciation of Agathiyar's service rendered to him and helping Supramaniar himself achieve his desire in attaining the Jhothi Nilai.

Agathiyar began with performing puja to Supramaniar. By way of devotion to Supramaniar he began to realize that he had had the greatest gift that was the human birth, which comes by very rarely. Through Supramaniar he came to know himself and the divinity that resided in the physical body. He understood the very Nature that brought him forth and resided within him. With Supramaniar's guidance and blessings, Agathiyar relished the ambrosia or nectar that came about through his tapas. This removed the seven veils to reveal the Jhothi in him, hence attaining the body of Light. With this came Bliss, Siddhis, and the state of Deathless-ness. Agathiyar attained the five tanmai of Erai namely Creation, Sustenance, Destruction, Veiling and Showering Grace.

Supramaniar granted Agathiyar the title Gurumuni and Kumbamuni and sent him off to spread the Siddha way extensively all over the globe, bringing many into his fold. All the Siddhas soon looked upon Agathiyar as their Guru.

Dr. Mandayam Kumar from the Siddha Medical Research Institute in Bangalore, gives us a short narrative of Agathiyar and the  Pralaya or big flood, which took place about 1600 years before the start of the Kali era at midnight of 18th February, 3102 B.C. at http://www.tknsiddha.com/medicine/origin/

As it is believed that Agathiyar stepped on our soil too during his journey to the south bringing peace, harmony and Siddha knowledge to its people, in another article of his, "Siddha Agasthya – Foremost of the Siddhas", passed on to me by Nadi Nool Aasan T.Ramesh many years back, Dr. Mandayam confirms this belief. I have given a summary of it as follows.

The Dr mentions that it was possible to find out details about Agathiyar during the course of literary research on the Siddha medical sciences in a Tamil manuscript written on palm leaves about 3,000 years ago. The text attributed to Lord Muruga is titled "Prapancha Kaandam" and according to the Dr runs into several volumes. Agathiyar narrated the contents while Pulastyar recorded it.

The Dr. reveals for the first time the parental heritage of Agathiyar. Agathiyar was said to have been born about 4573 years prior to the commencement of Kali Yuga at a place in Gujarat, in the early hours of Tuesday, 14 February 7673 BC. Belonging to the early Aryan race, his father Bhargava was well learned while his mother Indumathi was from Punjab. They were both devotees of the Pasupatha order of Rishabha Muni. Agathiyar had his early education in Gujarat.

As his thirst for knowledge in particular on philosophy, Yoga, medicine, and astronomy was immense, he traveled all over Kashmir, Tibet, China, Nepal, and Kailas in Manchuria. (Mount Kailas was deemed to be in Manchuria those days). He became a disciple of Nandi and Dhanvantri.

He then traveled towards the south to Cambodia and Malaya (present day Malaysia). In Cambodia, he established the very first of his many educational institutions for the propagation of philosophy and science. After establishing a similar institution and hospital in Malaya, he crossed the sea to the continent of Kumari Kandam (during Agathiyar’s time, Kumari Kandam occupied a vast area extending from the present day Sri Lanka to the Antarctic. Ravana, a great devotee of Lord Shiva, ruled this continent).

King Ravana gave away a portion of his kingdom to Agathiyar to establish more institutions. The foremost of these institutions in this region was known as Arunodaya Giri or Meozone. Here Agathiyar practiced Yoga and taught it to his large following of disciples.

Agathiyar then went back north to Malaya where he was betrothed to the king’s daughter. He then ruled the kingdom of Vijayapuri. He returned to Kumari Kandam where he met Lord Murugan in the form of Supramaniar at Trikona Malai (present day Trincomali). At the hill station called Kadari Kama or Kadhirgama, Lord Murugan imparted spiritual knowledge to Agathiyar.

Dr. Mandayam Kumar says Agathiyar could see impending calamities take place in the future during his meditation. As a result, he moved to the North Pole considering it to be a save place. This period of his move to the arctic was said to coincide with the end of the Dwapara Yuga placed at about 6580 BC. Just as he had seen of an impending calamity and had decided to move north, a tremendous explosion in the planet mars sends a piece of debris towards earth. This impact caused a great deluge on the earth. Significant portions of Kumari Kandam submerged into the Indian Ocean. Continental drift then resulted in the present day arrangement of this region. After the great flood Kailas was no more but instead the Himalayan mountain range had emerged in north India.

Amidst all this geographical changes, says the Dr, Agathiyar went seeking for a place that would not be affected by future calamities. He located a mountain range in south India. This is the present day Courtalam. This spot is said to be the safest place and free from any future catastrophes. Here Agathiyar met Lord Shiva and Uma in the form of Dhakshinamurthi and Shenbaga Devi. The spot where the meeting took place between Dhakshinamurthi, Shenbaga Devi, Lord Murugan, and Agathiyar was Mahadeva Giri. This meeting also signified the commencement of Kali Yuga. Other Siddhas then started coming to Mahadeva Giri. Lord Dhakshinamurthi revived the knowledge of the Vedas and instructed these Siddhas to propagate this knowledge at the appropriate manner and time for the benefit of humanity. The imparting of this knowledge was said to have taken place on the 21st day of the Tamil month of Kartigai, during the eleventh year, Eswara Samvatsara, of Kali Yuga. Agathiyar gave much importance to this day. All his dating was reckoned from this day.

The Siddhas recorded their knowledge on palm leaves after extensive discussions held in Alagan Kulam and presented them to Lord Dhakshinamurthi for his perusal. This included the 64 kinds of learning, 18 Puranas, 96 tatvas, and 48 branches of scientific knowledge. The entire literature in Tamil came to be called SIDDHAVEDA. It was then translated into the four existing languages of that period which was Sanskrit, Greek, Hebrew, and Chinese. Agathiyar on the instruction of Lord Murugan originated the Tamil language.

Bhogar from China (Agathiyar in the Jeeva Nadi revelation to Hanumathdasan of Chennai says Bhogar was from Mongolia), Thaeraiyar from Malaya, Yugimuni from Kerala, Pulipani from Kantha Malai, Pulastyar, and Kapiyar all served Agathiyar. A conference of Siddhas called Siddhar Sabai was held during the 53rd year, Siddharti Samvatsara, of Kali Yuga at Courtalam. An institution known as Siddhar Gnana Koodam was inaugurated by Lord Murugan and was headed by Agathiyar. Pulastyar and Kapiyar headed the literary section while Pulipani in research. Thaeraiyar who was into surgery headed a medical research centre established at Thorana Malai. Yugimuni who was into herbal medicines headed an ayurvedic hospital at Paradesi Kundai. Bhogar who was in charge of all scientific researches established an alchemy research centre at Tiruparankundram. Pambatti was heading a team researching venom at Marudamalai. After having established these institutions Agathiyar again started on an extensive mission of propagating the wealth of knowledge gained by these Siddhas in Tibet, Manchuria, Egypt, Palestine, Rome, America, Africa, Malaya and the Arab world.

After satisfactorily completing their mission of propagating the said teachings the Siddhas went into samadhi merging themselves into the cosmos. Supramaniar went into samadhi in Thorana Malai, Bhogar in Palani, Thaeraiyar, Pulipani and Yugimuni in Kantha Malai and Agathiyar himself choose to come back to Courtalam. He chose a spot called Dhashina Meru in the Pothigai hills. This spot is also the abode of Dhakshinamurthi.

P. Karthigayan in his "History of Medical and Spiritual Sciences of Siddhas of Tamil Nadu", quotes Bhogar as having mentioned that Agathiyar was from a family of farmers. This little known fact was mentioned by Agathiyar in the Nadi reading for AVM recently too.

P. Karthigayan writes that Agathiyar "gave rise to 48 generations." Agathiyar in his search for knowledge approached many people from various communities, finally picked up the yogic way and excelled in it. On achieving the inner glow he took on the name Agathiyar. P. Karthigayan says as Siddhas specialized in a particular field that suited them, Agathiyar had many mentors including (Lord) Siva and (Lord) Kumaran and an equal number of disciples.

P. Karthigayan lists out an extensive list of Agathiyar's contribution towards the community and humanity, hence receiving the famed title Guru Muni or great mentor. P. Karthigayan dates Agathiyar's achievements accordingly as pre- and post Sanga period, whence the establishment of the Sangam or literary academia too place. If during his pre-Sanga days he was into yogic practices, after the establishment of the Sanga: he established more Sangams and monasteries, pioneered and promoted the Tamil script and Tamil grammar, collected and compiled the works of the Siddhas and published them, streamlined the Siva faith, and spread the Siddha Marga, and exposed the false teachings, in total bringing a Renaissance. In his post Sanga years he concentrated on medicine and science. His greatest achievement was his ability to live for 4 aeons, at the time of mention in writing by Bhogar, and still lives among us in present times.

M. Govindan in "Babaji and the 18 Siddha Kriyayoga Tradition", Kriya Yoga Publications, Quebec, Canada, 1991, details Agathiyar's journey as starting at Agastya Ashram near Nasik (Pancavati in ancient times), marriage to Lobhamudra, king Vidarbha’s daughter (mentioned in the Mahabharata), and meeting up with Rama.

Then his pilgrimage takes him south where he has a residence at Malakuta near Badami (ancient Vatapi Puram or Dakshina Kasi). Then he comes to Pothigai hills. He moves on to the Indonesian islands, Borneo, and takes up residence in Maha Malaya hill in Malaya Dvipa. He enters Siam (present day Thailand) and Cambodia where he marries Yasomadhi. They beget a young prince named Yasovarma. He is reported to be living until the present day at Courtalam.

Pon. Govindaswamy in his book, "Sirsabaiyum Porsabaiyum", Bharath Book Bureau, 1985, mentions that Agathiyar took birth as Valluvar and gave us the "Tirukkural" besides other texts. He mentions that Agathiyar took birth as Ramalinga Adigal in the 19th century and gave us the "Tiruarutpa" too.

When the south had rise after the Gods and Goddesses, Devas and Devis, Siddhas, Rishis, Munis, and many more deities and divinities had gathered at Kailash to witness Lord Shiva's marriage to Goddess Parvathi, Agathiyar was sent away to the south to bring about a balance. Pon. Govindaswamy in his book, "Vallalarum Bramagnana Sangamum", Bharath Book Bureau, calls this event where the earth tilted as a Mystical Occult Event. This event is mentioned by Tirumular in his Tirumanthiram.

As they say let us hear from the horse's mouth, Surendaran Selvaratnam in a Nadi reading session asked the Siddha himself for answers to his origin. Agathiyar gracefully answered his query.

Agathiyar in his very first mortal birth, had the vision of Kailash at a very young age of 10. After the vision he took up extreme tapas (tavam) including breath control. With the holy feet of the Sadguru forever in his thought, he reached a state of Nirmala at Kailash. Upon receiving initiation or theecha from Lord Kailai Shiva, he was blessed to be born a Siddha. It was a mystical birth. Agathiyar adds that it was not necessary to dwell into the source and the details (Rishimulam Nadhimulam Ariya Vendam).

Born as a Siddha now and moving in the jungles, sustaining only on fruits, his thoughts fixed on Erai, having no attachment to the good or bad, he soon had the vision and grace of Goddess Vana Kali. Continuing with his seeking and search for realization, and upon accomplishment through further severe tavam, Lord Kailai Shiva shows him his vision in Pothigai. Merging with Erai, Agathiyar stayed on at Pothigai upon Lord Kailai Shiva's directive. While here he came to know about the medicinal benefits of various herbs and plants. Agathiyar received the names of Kudamuni, Kumbamuni and other names from Lord Kailai Shiva.

After years of going without food and remaining in silence, staying in the state of Vasi, adhering to the eight limbs of Asthanga Yoga and performing extreme tapas, for the rest of the Yuga, gaining the Siddhi to travel through air, yet Lord Kailai Shiva told Agathiyar that there was something that he had failed to accomplish and do. This surprised Agathiyar. What had he failed to do more?

When Agathiyar asked for further clarification, Lord Kailai Shiva laughed and looked him straight into his eyes, "Although you are an embodiment of Jnana, and those who hold on to your feet shall never face any disappointments, Gurumuni you do not have a companion as I do."

Agathiyar was taken aback. He came to know that the Lord intended to get him engaged to the very representation of Mother Kaveri, and Kaberan's daughter, Lobamutrai. Hence in this Kali Yuga, his energy that was of Shiv Sakthi came to stay at Kalyana Theertam with the intention of blessing all those who chose to come, seeking him and stood before him and Lobha Ma, and chose to see them as a personification of Shiv Sakthi.

Agathiyar in another Nadi reading told me that he was born 27 1/2 naaligai after the start of the star Ayilyam during the month of Margazhi. Ayilyam starts at 6.26 pm Malaysian Standard time, today 25 December 2018. It ends at 4.10 pm tomorrow. His actual time of birth would be at 5.24 am on 26th.

Kallar Ashram will host a two day celebration beginning today evening. The highlight of the two day event will be the lighting of a Yagna or Yagam, the Sarva Dosa Nivaarana Muligai Mahaa Yagam.

Rakesh has compiled a long list of places where Agathiyar's Jayanthi will be held today and tomorrow on his blog http://tut-temple.blogspot.com/2018/12/blog-post_51.html#gsc.tab=0

We at AVM have been following in the footsteps of our parent ashram Kallar Ashram celebrating Agathiyar's Jayanthi all these years. Since 2017, Lord Muruga has switched the date of Agathiyar's celebration for us to be carried out during the star Ahilyam in the Tamil month of Thaai. AVM will celebrate his Vizha on 21 January 2019.

THE GURU & HIS MYSTERIOUS WAYS

1994

I never dreamed that my life would change tremendously. I received Yogananda Paramhansa's "Autobiography of a Yogi" from my colleague Sekaran and a picture of Lord Shiva when he resigned and left to join as a monk in Yogananda's ashram in Ranchi, India. The book opened up a new world to me, the world of sadhus and holy man.

2001

I was minding my business as usual when my nephew dropped in with the Vasudeva mantra and a picture of Lord Dhakshanamurthy. Worship of Lord Dhakshanamurthy and the chanting of the Vasudeva mantra was to prepare me to meet my guru, I was told. All these was a mystery.

2002

My colleague Murali started to talk about the Nadi. It was something new and truly amazing. It reminded me of Dr Krishnan who had told me that his prediction might not come true if there was a curse and that the only way to find out was go for a Nadi reading. These were all totally new and sounded alien to me. Murali arranged to have me read my Nadi. It was amazing and mind boggling. I followed every word said. The Nadi reader started me with off with the puja and worship of the Siddhas. I was brought to the worship of the Siddhas, whom I had no knowledge about.

2003

Agathiyar drove me to make my very first trip overseas and to India, to carry out my remedies or parikaram. He made me meet my very first Guru in the physical form, Supramania Swami of Tiruvannamalai. Supramania Swami constantly reminded me to sit in Tavam, initiating me into mantras and chants. All these were new and sounded exciting. Agathiyar made me contribute towards building a temple through Supramania Swami which was halted by them too.

2005

Agathiyar brought me to yet another guru Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal of Kallar Ashram. Agathiyar gave me my first experience of life in an ashram. Both Agathiyar and Tavayogi brought me on a journey to places associated with Agathiyar and the Siddhas; caves and hills; jungles and rivers, my first excursion into the wild.

Back home now, equipped with Agathiyar's picture, the Siddhar Potri, and the Homa Kundam I began my puja, worship and homam for the Siddhas. Tavayogi guided me, giving a set of asanas and pranayama practices and threw in several mantras over the years. My home became a temple and I ended up becoming a priest, a profession that I neglected in one of my past lives.

2010

Agathiyar came in the form of a statue and started me on performing libation for him. Over the years, I began to realize the truth in the statements and remarks that Tavayogi used to make as we went on more trips or as we sat and while away the time at the ashram. When his daughter questioned the need for him to leave the family and become a monk, Agathiyar tells her that they wanted him to do service to humanity. Hence Agathiyar instructed him to Agathiyar Vanam in the Kallar hills and set up an ashram; feed the natives in the area; and make numerous trips to Malaysia to preach about the Siddhas in the footsteps of his guru Chitramuthu Adigal and Paramaguru Jeganatha Swamigal. When I asked him why he wanted to engage in building a temple, he told me it was for the devotees of Agathiyar. When I asked him why he was doing the Yagna or Yagam, he told me it was to save nature and mankind from natural disasters, fires, floods and famine; to prevent bad fortune and ill health among people, and to subdue curses and karma of theirs. He made me follow all these rituals and activities in Malaysia too. Thus I was brought further into the fold of the Siddhas. AVM practically became a shadow ashram of Kallar.

2013

Agathiyar soon brought many seekers and devotees of his from past lives to my home, Agathiyar Vanam Malaysia (AVM), a name I took from my thaai veedu Kallar Ashram. He provided an opportunity for his devotees to serve and worship him, carry out rituals and sing his praise.

Present

Today after 16 years of worship to the Siddhas, Lord Muruga acknowledged our dedication and promoted our home to the status of Agathiyar Tapovanam Malaysia (ATM) while Agathiyar regarded it as Gnana Kottam.

When I succumbed to a sudden back pain in 2011, Agathiyar asked me to stop all forms of yogic practices immediately. When the energies could not be contained any further both in us and the home, I thought I should tone down on our worship. Slowly we began to reduce the duration of the worship. Recently when Lord Muruga crippled me with back pain and told me to start going within, I thought I should stop doing rituals entirely. When I thought that I shall replace existing rituals with meditation devotees of Agathiyar asked to carry on with the rituals for they said they needed it. Similarly when I had on numerous occasions thought of winding up my writings and stop blogging, I would  receive a mail telling me how the readers have benefited from my writings. This kept me writing.

Just days ago I was told to continue what I was doing and only stop when they tell me to do so. Looks like I am here to stay and bore you readers. Looks like the rituals will continue too.

If I was amazed at the constant monitoring from my gurus in the physical form over the years, I was equally amazed and overjoyed by the constant guidance of Agathiyar through the Nadi, 54 readings to date and numerous readings for AVM through members of the AVM family. I felt so blessed that I could only thank him and show my gratitude by being obedient and listening and following his commands.

Lord Muruga's latest assignment for us is to build a temple for him. As is a massive task and a costly one I chose to remain silent not committing. But he was not to give up on me so easily. He sent Agathiyar to talk me into it too.

Pondering our it all this while, today I am prepared to do it. He has to start and complete it for me.

CONNECTING WITH THE OTHER SIDE

The subject of someone going into a trance intrigued me when I came to the Siddha path. As a young lad I saw my neighbour "invite" by invoking deities who would give solutions to problems of people gathered around followed by an animal sacrifice and a feast. I used to stay at a safe distance and watch the proceedings not understanding it but revered the act as a form of worship by certain portions of the community.

Then my brother-in-law spearheaded and led the local manual group of workers under his supervision renovate and build new shrines and temples in the many places where he was transferred for work. Here too the deities were summoned. These practice went one in several other smaller temples and shrines and certain individual's homes too.

As an infant when I succumbed to diarrhea, my parents rushed me to my neighbour of Chinese origin who was known to go into a trance and cure the sick. Since they had lost two children earlier for the same reason this time around my parents chose this alternative. I was saved but with a condition that I was given away in adoption to the Chinese Gods. Since then my mother always reminded me to drop in at Chinese temples and pay my respect to the deities. Later when I joined work, I asked to see my future at a Chinese temple near my place of work. I had to shake a can of sticks on which was written numbers. The stick that dropped out of the can was picked up and its number referred to a large book of prediction. The priest told me in the little Malay language that he knew that I had lots of friends in the divine plane who were looking over my shoulder. That was pleasant news to me. Today the Siddhas have reassured the same.

Then when I came to know Jnana Jhothiamma, I was again reminded of the deities and how they stood by their devotees. She was in communion with "Mother" and "Ayya", funding to build a seven foot statue of "Ayya" in Chennai city and came over to India to officiate it. She used to share the mysterious ways of these deities and spoke often about their invisible but assured presence. When she returned from the USA the same year, to visit the old Kallar Ashram, wanting to know more about Agathiyar, the deities accompanied her but told her that henceforth although they would be present, they had now handed her over to Agathiyar. She soon became a very devoted follower of Agathiyar. When she visited our home twice, she mentioned to us the presence of the Siddhas. On her first visit Agathiyar gifted all of us with a miracle by opening both his eyes in the bronze image of his at AVM. She used to share many miraculous moments with Agathiyar and the Siddhas till she was asked to drop all means of communion with the outside world.

If earlier I stayed away from places where the deities were invoked and people went into trances, now I was brought closer to this mysterious phenomena and had to bear witness to many mysterious happenings, when they chose to make themselves visible to a rare few, and began to frequent the abodes of the Siddhas. The Siddhas too showed their presence in mysterious ways. The Gurus who had shed their mortal frame too made their presence known. The thin veil between both worlds, dimension, sphere, space and plane, was dropped.

How do we explain this phenomena of going into a trance?

Swami Vivekananda who was groomed by his master Sri Ramakrishna, explains this phenomena in Swami Prabhavananda's book "Patanjali Yoga Sutras", Sri Ramakrishna Math, Chennai.
The yogi can enter a living body and hold that man's mind and organs in check, and for the time being act through the body of that man.
When one goes through the Tiruarutpa of Ramalinga Adigal, one never fails to notice that he repeatedly mentions a line in numerous songs of his that the dead shall arise, hence his command to his followers that the dead should not be burnt in the funeral pyre but buried for they shall arise.

How is that possible? How does he revive the dead? I once asked Tavayogi but he quite honestly told me he did not know.

Swami Vivekananda too points out to this peculiar possibility, where the dead arise.
The yogi can enter a dead body and make it get up and move, even while he himself is working in another body.
How is that possible? But there are such instances. An atheist, for the sake of his son accompanied him to a cave temple in Sungai Siput. While waiting for his son to pray, he chose not to enter the cave but instead picked up a broom and started to sweep the dried and fallen leaves at the stairs to the entrance of the cave temple. Soon he came back to carry out this chore willingly but never stepped into the cave nor prayed from a distance. One day he collapsed and the doctors pronounced him dead. While waiting for the body to be taken to the mortuary, the temple priest rushed to the hospital. He began chanting Lord Muruga's hymns at the bedside of the dead man. The man woke up alive! Dr Janar of AVM who was attached to the hospital at that time could vouch for this miracle. We were privileged to meet Krishnan during one of our visits to the cave temple. He is now an ardent devotee of Lord Muruga and continues sweeping the floor of the cave temple.

CS Murugesan in his book, "Siddhargalin Saagaakalai", Azhagu Pathipagam, 1998, gives us a small inkling and hint into this miraculous possibility.

The Siddhas have the ability to breath into the Tananjayan nerve the essential and life saving Prana, something that Agathiyar often says that he has given his breath to revive and save his devotees.

Life's answers lie with the Siddhas, and the deities from the other side of the realm. We are indebted to all the Gods and Goddesses and deities from all faiths for their compassion and love and in sharing all these amazing and miraculous information, although only minute pieces of the puzzle, but it helps answer our needs of the moment.

GNANAM

While wikipedia.org defines Gnanam as "Knowledge inseparable from the total experience of reality, especially a total or divine reality (Brahman), "Mother" explains it further, sharing her Gnanam.

Gnanam is the wisdom of the wise. Their experience gained on the path towards spiritual attainment becomes the essence and wisdom that is showered and given to seekers. The experience of the Gnanis, Yogis, Rishis, Munis and Siddhas has come to us as wisdom.

All the research that went towards discovery and understanding of life and its purpose and the various paths leading back to the source, has come to us as Gnanam. Their wisdom went into the scriptures. Their experiments become wisdom for ours. Their trials and errors in perfecting procedures and techniques became wisdom to beginners.

In simple terms Gnana is the fruit of the guru's experience that the student partakes. All the Anubhuthis, the Tiruarutpa, the Thevaram, and the Siddha songs are experiences of highly evolved souls that becomes Gnanam for us who would chose to venture on the path.

When I drove Tavayogi to Bukit Rotan, I played the Tiruarutpa in my car. He listened for a while and commented that just by listening to Ramalinga Adigal compositions and songs one could attain Gnanam.

Immediately after the launch of our "Agathiyar Geetham"  audio CD, a compilation of songs on Agathiyar put together by us at AVM and produced by Raagawave Production, Nadi Nool Aasan Tharanibalan Aiya who was one of many dignitaries who attended the launch, praised our efforts and told us that music was of two kinds. One was meant for the ears, pleasing the listener; the other was food for thought giving Gnanam. Ours was of the second kind, he said. That was the highest compliment one could ever expect for his composition.

An individual's learning is another's Gnanam. The Siddha path is a path of learning. When well traveled it becomes Gnana for a new traveler. Hence the reason why Tavayogi rather than preach to me on the Siddhas and their world, took me along on a journey of discovery, exposing me to their travels, the paths they walked upon, taking me to their abodes, Samadhis and caves, getting me to experience miracles, giving me their Darshan, and creating opportunities to gain Gnanam from the journey, returning wiser and filled with Gnanam.

What we consider as works of Gnanam or wisdom is in actual fact experiences of our saints. Summarized in a statement, the fruits of ones efforts towards spiritual attainment is Gnanam.

From https://www.swami-krishnananda.org/fruit/fruit_08.html we are told that we have not attained the state of understanding needed.
A cell in the body is seeing the body as if it is outside it. What would be the condition or the experience of a cell in our own body notionally isolating itself from the organism to which it belongs and considering the body as a world outside it?
We think the world is outside of us, though we are a part of the world. We do not feel that we are inseparable from God-being. That knowledge has not come to us. So we have not entered such a height of religious consciousness as to be convinced that we are inseparable from God's existence. But we are convinced enough to feel that God exists. He is, but we have not gone to such an extent to feel that we are inseparable from Him. That is a little higher stage.
The guru keeps us under his watchful eyes but will never interfere. In very rare cases, this journey is sometimes hastened by the divine hand of the guru if there is an urgency and need for it.

After revealing my past lives and karma, Agathiyar said in my very first Nadi reading, I had done much wrong in the past but it was also his doings he told me, removing the guilt and getting me to forgive myself. Besides gaining lessons through our own experiences, we learn from others the do's and dont's. Tavayogi says that the soul cannot be chained by doctrines, ideologies, conditioned and limited by dogmas, do's and dont's, codes and rules, - it has to be set free to learn and experience for itself.

While the physical body is a result of all the elements of nature, the spirit is a spark from the source while the soul that is of subtle matter bridges both the body and the spirit. As Manickavasagar sings in the Sivapuranam, we take numerous births to gather the experience, evolving from the lowest to the highest of creation, Pon Govindasamy in his "Vallalaarum Brahma Gnana Sangamum", Bharath Book Bureau, Chennai, draws our attention to the same.

In short experience is wisdom. We are allowed to make mistakes, "Mother" says. The mistakes are a lesson for us but becomes Gnanam for others. Others learn from our mistakes.

As the soul is on a journey of learning and gaining the experiences that it seeked, each birth then is a journey towards Gnanam. The whole purpose of taking birth then is to learn and experience and assimilate all the experiences and attaining Gnanam. Finally we will settle for the road back to our father's kingdom after having exhausted and seen all that needs to be seen.

All births tuned towards spirituality then are a Gnana Pirappu. Exhausting all our desires or dropping them, placing concerted effort in removing the three impurities - Aanavam, Kanma and Mayai with the aid and guidance of the guru, we become pure in nature and one with Erai. Having come through the cycles of birth and rebirth, we return to our father's kingdom finally in his image and nature.

THE GURU'S GRACE

Yuvarani referred to a piece on the Guru's Grace from Paramhansa Yogananda's "Autobiography of a Yogi" and mentioned, "I was reading something in internet and happened to read about Babaji and then Lahiri Mahasaya pa... When I read this part tears on my eyes! Amazed seeing how a guru protects his sishya just like our Agathiyar appa and us pa!"

Lahiri Mahasaya narrates how he was called over to his master's abode through a mysterious turn of events.
It was I who called you."
I entered a neat little grotto which contained several woolen blankets and a few kamandulus (begging bowls).
"Lahiri, do you remember that seat?" The yogi pointed to a folded blanket in one corner.
"No, sir." Somewhat dazed at the strangeness of my adventure, I added, "I must leave now, before nightfall. I have business in the morning at my office."
The mysterious saint replied in English, "The office was brought for you, and not you for the office."
I was dumbfounded that this forest ascetic should not only speak English but also paraphrase the words of Christ.

Indeed the Guru's grace, once earned, is not for one life time but has been with us in the past births and will protect us in the future lives too. The bond between the guru and disciple is sacred. A true Guru works for the betterment of his disciples, society and humanity. He becomes an apostle of the divine, working its cause through him. He becomes the conduit through which the divine energy flows. He brings his disciple to the door of God's kingdom. If the disciple misses the opportunity in his life time, the Guru comes to redeem him in his next birth. If the Guru leaves before the disciple achieves the desired state, the Guru continues to guides him from his plane. The true guru either in the flesh or in the subtle form continuous the relationship till the disciple achieves the state of the guru himself. As the guru is an extension of Erai, the divine never lets loose its subjects.

Velayudham Karthikeyan Aiya, the administrator of Siththan Arul, related to me an amazing story of one Muniandy Swamy. The story goes,
Muniandy Swamy had to take birth again after a long lapse of 2,000 years. The reason? In his past birth that was 2,000 years ago he had failed to listen to his guru. He also failed to carry out his obligations to his guru. But the most compassionate guru waited patiently for his disciple to take rebirth after 2,000 years. Muniandy Swamy had to finish his obligations towards his guru and the guru too had an obligation towards his disciple. He had to save his disciple from this cycle of birth. Since both their karmas were interconnected the guru waited while his disciple came back after 2,000 years to join him.

Speaking further about Muniandy Swamy, Karthikeyan Aiya mentions that Muniandy Swami had taken a divine birth. Nobody knows much about his origin. He had performed many miracles. He went into Jeeva samadhi at a very young age of 32 at Kallupatti near Madurai. He had only one disciple, Viswanathan with him till the end.

Gordon Matthews in his translation of Meykanda Devar’s "Shivagnana Botham" writes, “By reason of the soul’s virtue in previous births, God, who has been immanent in the soul, making it known, now vouchsafing to take the form of a Guru, initiates the soul in the Saiva mysteries. The primal one himself teaches these souls as a Guru: for in the form of consciousness he is in union (with him). When because of the soul’s meritorious practices the primal one enlightens the soul as a Guru…”

Expanding from Meykandar's differentiation of the various states of disciples according to the impurities in them, Gordon translates further,
To Sakalar, souls immersed in all three impurities, God comes as a Guru of human form; he imparts it concealing himself as a Guru.
To Pralayakalar, souls affected only by Anava and Karma, he comes as a Guru in Shiva’s form; he himself standing before them as Guru, imparts true knowledge.
To Vijnanakalar, souls involved only in Anava, he comes as the inner principle of the soul’s consciousness; he himself appears, as true knowledge.
Pon Govindasamy in his "Vallalaarum Brahma Gnana Sangamum", Bharath Book Bureau, Chennai, similarly explains about these different states.

Veeraswamy Krishnaraj in his comprehension of Arulnandi Shivachariyar’s "Shivagnana Siddhiyar" writes,
Lord Shiva appears to Sakalar with Anava, Kanma and Mayai malams, in human as a Satguru. To Pralayakalar with Anava and Kanma malams, Lord Shiva appears as divine God. Those souls that are rising, Vijnanakalar - the highest class of souls with only one impurity known as Anava malam, do not need an external Guru to instruct them. Lord Shiva by remaining inside them as the inner guide rids them of the Anava malam, bringing the merits and demerits to a resolution and conferring spiritual knowledge or divine grace known as Saktinipata, the descent of Sakti into the soul. Vijnanakalar receive Gnana from Lord Shiva himself as the incorporeal inner guide.
Pon Govindasamy reveals to us the Divine's plan. In his "Vallalaarum Brahma Gnana Sangamum", he states that it is the mission of the Divine to safe the souls that are riddled, locked and chained by Aanavam, Kanmam, and Mayai and bring them back to his state of purity.

Thus started the journey of evolution of life and form. As Manickavasagar mentions in his Sivapuranam, translated by Rev.G.U.Pope, the evolution "Ranging from grass to grub, the stone and the snake, the bird and the beast, the spooks and the spirits, the asuras and the ascetics, but weary and heavy I have grown..."

We have come a long way. Appreciate this human birth and this life. If life is not favourable to you do not despair. It only needs our concerted effort and faith to change our lives around. Let us take the hand of the divine. Let us bring him into our homes and hearts. Let him in. Let us listen to him.

Do not waste time in being a rolling stone that does not gather moss but instead be steadfast in whatever form of worship or belief you are currently in. This would save your precious time. Stop knocking on doors. Once you have knocked on one and are permitted to enter stay in and work on your karma and merits, besides building your faith. Stop looking outside for remedies and solutions. Stop the search and spent that time in performing external puja or internal contemplation, whichever comes easy to you. These are tested means to gain the grace and guidance of the divine.

This is what we at Agathiyar Vanam Malaysia (AVM) adopted. Today the divine through its guidance has given us numerous tasks, has asked us to continue the rituals and only to stop if the divine wills.  Just as Kuthumi and Djwal Kul wrote in "The Human Aura" by Summit University Press 1971,
Each individual has such an angel representing the purity of the infinite God assigned to his life stream by divine decree from the very foundation of the world. This angel has the ability not only to read the life record of everyone upon the planet but also to commune directly with the heart of god.
Agathiyar has been our Guru and Guardian Angel. Supramania Swami ignited the fire of devotion  in me and opened me up to a whole new world of Guru - Disciple relationship, when I went to him. Tavayogi came along to nurture the flame of devotion in me, building further the concept and my understanding of this Guru - Disciple relationship. Similarly many at AVM, who have had previously engaged with Agathiyar and gurus in their past lives, continue the journey now, still holding the hands of the Siddhas.

The bond between the guru and disciple cannot be broken. Supramania Swamy gave me a miss call after he had gone into samadhi. How is that possible? But it did happen and Agathiyar confirmed the miracle in a Nadi reading later. When Tavayogi took me along on the journey to the sacred hideouts of the Siddhas, he used to bring my attention to the wonderful aroma lingering in the air, pointing out to me that that was an indication of the presence of Siddhas. Similarly just minutes before the miss call, Supramania Swami came to our home as the aroma of tobacco in the air. Then the call came in. Since I did not believe that he was present that day, just after our weekly Thursday prayers, he left another miss call on my phone as I was narrating this unbelievable happening to my nephew some days later.

Just as his disciple performed this miracle, Yogi Ramsuratkumar too came out of samadhi to join both Supramania Swami and me in chanting his name for some twenty minutes or so. Even before this miracle took place, immediately after the Yogi went into samadhi he knocked on the door to Swami's home late one night and passed him his picture before disappearing into the darkness.

Tavayogi had left his heart and soul behind at AVM when he came in 2016. After his recent samadhi he has appeared in our midst to bless us numerous times. The divine has confirmed this on several accounts. The divine has also mentioned of Supramania Swami's presence and blessings prevailing among us. Such is the strong bonds between the guru and his disciple that they look out for us at all times.

As Agathiyar revealed that the one act that excels all other supreme acts of dharmam is to stay faithful and show the path of the Guru to others, our task now would be to continue with the teachings of our gurus, taking heed of their continuous guidance and excelling in this venture of getting back to our father's home. Helping another onto this bandwagon will bring salvation to them in this birth and the births to come.

A MATTER OF CHOICES

We did not choose our parentage. We did not choose our country to be born. We did not choose when to be born. All these was decided by our soul that looked for all the great possibilities to live out its karma, desires and dreams.

So what choice do we have then? We have the choice of making moment to moment decisions. We are in control of the moment. We have the right to determine our life now in the present. Even if the karma we carried has brought all the right elements together for us to move according to what was fated for that moment, we can change our fate with some concerted efforts and by making a wise choice, either to pursue the direction of some ill fate or change it hence renewing our destiny. But sadly most of the time we fail to make wise decisions and end up as a victim to our own fate.

By taking the hand of the wise, the Siddhas, we are given an insight to the consequences of the matter at hand and tend to choose wisely. Although the immediate effects of our choice my be contrary to what we had expected at times, in the long run it would be for the good of all. Here is where a little consultation through the numerous means of predictions help.

Speaking about renewing our destiny, it would be even better if we could drop our desires, likes and dislikes and take on the wishes of the divine and work towards it. This is how the apostles of God moved. This is what Arunagiri did. If prior to Lord Muruga's appearance and saving him, Arunagiri had lived out all his desires, to the extent he contracted a disease as a result of over indulging in fulfilling his appetite for it. Once he was saved he surrendered his life to the lord. The lord asked him to sit quiet. He did. The lord asked him to go places where he would meet him, he did as asked. Arunagiri now lived for the lord. The lord moved in him. His actions were those of his lord. He became an apostle of the lord.

How many of us are willing to stop living for ourselves and begin to live for the Erai? For this to happen individual appetite and desires need to be dropped. Then Erai fills us with his desires. His desires will trigger actions that off course would bring good to all of his creation while ours are solely for the benefit of ourselves and the immediate family.

This is where Agathiyar brings us to share our time and life with the unfortunate, bringing some cheer to them. He moves us from being self centered to care for the rest of the world too.

But before we can tackle the world we need to consistently work on our "self". The Chief High Priest the late Venerable Dr K. Sri Dhammananda Nayaka Maha Thera in his book "You are Responsible" from the Wisdom series of books published by the Buddhist Missionary Society, Kuala Lumpur, 1984, gives us some tools to bring the much needed change in us and live life fully.
  • You are responsible for your life,
  • You are responsible for your relationship with others,
  • Blame not others, accept responsibility,
  • You are responsible for your inner peace,
  • Expect nothing and nothing will disappoint you,
  • Be grateful,
  • Compare not with others, and finally
  • Forgive and forget.
Similarly towards this purpose, the Siddhas have written extensively on virtues to be adopted. They have given us guidelines on how we are supposed to live this life in their works. The Siddha Tiruvalluvar gave us the "Tirukkural". Siddha Avvai gave us the "Avvai Paadal", "Aatthi Chudi" and "Kondrai Venthan", all in the Tamil language. Siddha Pathanjali gave us the "Yoga Sutras" laying out eight stages of individual development in his Yoga sutras: Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi. Svatmarama gave us the "Hatha Yoga Pradipika".

Tiruvalluvar, reminds us of the following:

  1. Be righteous;
  2. Be kind in speech;
  3. Be grateful;
  4. Maintain self-control;
  5. Do not desire another man’s wife;
  6. Be forgiving;
  7. Do not envy;
  8. Do not covet;
  9. Do not slander;
  10. Perform charity;
  11. Be truthful;
  12. Abstain from anger; and
  13. Be courteous.
Avvai in her work entitled "Aatthi Chudi" has 109 advises for us, amongst them:

  1. Do good;
  2. Control anger;
  3. Do not hinder aid to others;
  4. Feed the hungry;
  5. Help the needy;
  6. Keep reading;
  7. Do not be jealous of other’s achievement;
  8. Help your relatives and friends grow with you;
  9. Look after your parents;
  10. Do not forget those who have come to your aid;
  11. Do not secure what does not belong to you;
  12. Do not venture into things that are degrading by nature;
  13. Abstain from using harsh language;
  14. Refrain from thinking degrading thoughts;
  15. Do not harm others;
  16. Give your best in every venture that you undertake;
  17. Lead an honest life; and
  18. Respect others.
Similarly Avvai in "Kondrai Venthan", has 91 advises for us. Through "Muthurai", she has 30 advises and another 40 in "Nalvazhi". Agathiyar through his "Agasthiyar Gnanam" spells out the attributes that one should seek and become.

They all start with the very basic, working on the characteristics of a person. They speak about good morals and attributes. The very first lesson that they teach us is to bring change in our behavior, speech and beliefs. The Siddhas emphasize on character building, good behavior, right conduct, right knowledge, and yogic practices. They ask us to restrain our anger, lust and ego.

Agathiyar in my Nadi readings has mentioned the importance of overcoming the adverse feelings in order to rise to the level of a Siddha. These are the very basic requirements that one has to have in order to transcend further to the state of compassion that is required for a Siddha. Ramalinga Adigal and Siddhartha were very compassionate towards other beings. These features in them lead them on towards attaining the effulgence and nirvana respectively.

In the preface to his "Manumurai Kanda Vasakam", the original in Tamil by Thavathiru Rengaraja Desiga Swamigal and translated into English by R.G.Rajaram, Rengaraja Swamigal list out Ramalinga Adigal’s teachings and his path that of Samarasam which contains four disciplines :
  1. Indriya Ozhukkam (Ozhukkam means self - control) that is of two kinds,
    1. Gnana Indriya Ozhukkam: listening to the praise of god, preventing bad words entering our ears, avoiding looks of harshness and wickedness, abstaining from touching evil things, abstaining from gluttony etc.
    2. Karma Indriya Ozhukkam: speaking sweet words, telling no lies, resisting by all means from harmful deeds to other living beings, leading a religious life, associating ourselves with people of saintly character, and maintaining a healthy body.
  2. Karma Ozhukkam: the mind has to be directed to the cit sabhai (cit sabhai is the heart in which the divine abodes) by taking it away from other objects, not to inquire into the faults of others, not to be wicked.
  3. Jiva Ozhukkam: the discipline that teaches one to treat all human beings as equal, and feel the presence of oneself in all human beings, one must not be affected by the various distinctions as social, national, linguistic, caste, religion, etc. because the soul belongs to a different sphere where no differences exist.
  4. Anma Ozhukkam: the further development of jiva ozhukkam wherein the soul looks upon all living beings alike (not only human beings but also other beings). The soul feels great compassion for all the beings, considers ‘anma’ as the ‘sabhai’ and the ‘inner light’ as god.
Once we take care of these, then perception and understanding will changed accordingly. The world will still be the same. Nevertheless, we shall see it in a different perspective then. We shall accept everything as Erai’s doing. We shall go with the flow. We shall see the world differently. Moving further on there comes a stage where nothing is understood, instead everything is known.

The one place we can immediately bring change for the better is in our selfs. Working on this space for some time, we shall realize that the divine, pleased with us shall begin to command us with his work for humanity. Taking up the challenge he begins to give us more responsibilities. Eventually seeing our efforts and the results of our efforts he begins to work within us silently. Changes within that are not our doing, takes place. When we clear and empty and prepare the home (our body and thoughts) for his arrival, for him to reside, he begins furnishing his abode with his stuffs. He moves in. He moves us. We too become his apostles.

OF KARMA, THE AKASHIC RECORDS, THE CHAKRAS, & THE AURA

We have seen in an earlier post the sheaths or bodies that are layered beginning from the physical and visible material body to the more subtle or invisible bodies till we reach the soul within us.

Here we shall briefly learn together the existence of chakras and auras that carry an air of mystery too.

After revealing about our past karma to us to enable us to understand why we have taken birth in this physical body, taken birth in a particular race, and taken birth in a particular family and nation, and explaining the purpose of us coming here, Agathiyar gifted us two oars that are of utmost importance to travel this journey discovering the route back to our source; two oars to be used to row this boat that we have to come to know as our self across the sea of life. He brought us to worship and set us to do charity. Both this would help transform karmic energy. Since then Agathiyar brought us through several pedestals or rungs of the ladder of spiritual evolvement to the present.

Cyndi Dale in her book, "New Chakra Healing", Llewellyn Publications, 2003, mentions that "Karma is only important because it leads us to dharma. The dharmic conversion process is the only one that can help us transform karmic energy." She says it beautifully, "If karma is the process which pulls us back towards our past, dharma is the process which pulls us forward toward our future."

Cyndi enlightens us further, "One finds the akashic records, the books upon which is recorded all we have ever seen, done or said in this life or any other, in the eighth chakra from bottom up, located an inch and a half above the head." She believes too that this is the portal into and out of this time space continuum.

When my daughter as a child was complaining of pain in the throat, the doctors examined her and could not find anything wrong with her. We then came to know of a healing session done at a temple by chance. We dropped in. The healer ran both his hands alongside my daughter and seemed to begin to heal her subtle energy body. We were told she had to go through another two sessions. Dr Meena from a local university came over the next two times to heal her. Her hands dropped on its own accord the third time she ran and held her hands across my daughter's chakras. She told us that that was the indication that her chakras had recovered.

We did bring my daughter to the Buddhist Vihara too. We were blessed to have the Chief High Priest the late Venerable Dr K. Sri Dhammananda Nayaka Maha Thera see us personally. After hearing our plight, he placed his hand slightly above her head and hummed the "m" sound in the last portion of the pranava AUM for some moments.

My colleague Muralidharan Samynathan who introduced me to the Nadi and booked an appointment for me, also brought me to have an aura photograph taken. I was just as excited on the possibility of taking my aura photograph, as I was on hearing his experience in seeing the Nadi. We headed for a crystal shop cum aura therapy centre at Berjaya Times Square in Kuala Lumpur city centre. Several wires were attached to my finger tips and my aura photograph was given to me with an elaborate explanation of my health condition at that time, the internal organs that were ailing and needed to be revitalized and possible illnesses in the future.

In "The Human Aura" by Kuthumi and Djwal Kul, Summit University Press 1971, the authors say,
"God is life pulsating."
Now what more proof do we need of the existence of God?

An interesting revelation of the workings of the Akashic plane is mentioned in this book.
"The entire transmittal of data from the external world to the internal lies in the akashic records of his own being. The sorting and classification of these records is the responsibility of the body elemental and the recording angel of the individual life stream. Each individual has such an angel representing the purity of the infinite God assigned to his life stream by divine decree from the very foundation of the world. This angel has the ability not only to read the life record of everyone upon the planet but also to commune directly with the heart of god."
This description aptly fits Agathiyar and the Siddhas. Pon Govindasamy in his "Vallalaarum Brahma Gnana Sangamum", writes besides the many responsibilities of Agathiyar in the other realm, he also oversees the judgement of souls, keeping track of their karma and merits gained, through Karma Devas or Lipikas or Chitaguptar.

We learn from "The Human Aura", that love can bring us back to our original state of godliness.
"The aura will expand in proportion as you increase both the velocity and the vibration of energy moving into and coming forth from the seven chakras of being."
"The act of loving produces the action of the cosmic flow, and it is the flow of energy from the heart of man to the heart of god that rejuvenates the being of man, that strengthens the citadel of consciousness, that expands the auric forcefield, and that ultimately magnetizes the soul of man to the spirit of god in the ritual of the ascension in the light."

GUIDELINES FOR SIDDHAR PUJA 2

Bhakthi or devotion is a growing thing, a spiritual evolution. Studying the works of the saints we understand from their journey that they too had evolved through numerous stages. So is it with us.

Year 2002.

Sharing my experience reading my Nadi with Dr Krishnan, he passed my a yantra of Agathiyar and his Moola mantra. Now I had Agathiyar picture, yantra, mantra and names of Siddhas.

Year 2003.

Supramania Swami initiates me giving a Siva mantra.

Year 2005.

Tavayogi initiates my wife and me giving Agathiyar's moola mantra.

Year 2007.

Tavayogi initiates me to start conducting Homam accompanied by recitation of the names of Siddhas.

Year 2010.

Agathiyar comes to us in the form of a bronze statue. We begin conducting libation for him.

Year 2011.

Agathiyar delivers his Moola mantra.

Moving fast forward to the present, we have streamlined our worship to 40 minutes, without sacrificing the quality of devotion or offerings available at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Tl9XWzuvx4kbLWLfwBzLPH6UBP1wQKI_/view

Getting started with devotion and puja might be a tough thing for some, but once you take the initiative and bring on some self discipline, we realize the Erai in us moves us to experiment and settle for a mode of devotion that is both comfortable and uplifting for both the soul and spirit.

GUIDELINES FOR SIDDHAR PUJA 1

This blog is about my journey discovering the Siddhas, their worship and their teachings. What started as a lone journey taking the cue from Agathiyar in my very first Nadi reading, soon I was joined by my family. Agathiyar then began sending wonderful souls along the way who joined me on this discovery.

The Nadi Nool Aasan started me off with the worship of the Siddhas, while Sivabalan gave me a picture of Agathiyar to worship. For lack of material on Siddha worship, my first task was to screen through Siddha books and the net for all the hymns of the Siddhas. I compiled them into a compendium of hymns available at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dp5hxfCGULlttFkbZo0j-5Et03tqqAw5/view From this compendium of Siddha songs I selected some for use in my daily worship.

Later I prepared a selection of songs that would only take 24 minutes to go through, for those devotees on the run available at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ZVrg4T6-nQPGEco6XGEy4dVvIXfPYEB0/view

Taking heed of further directives from Agathiyar, I began performing libation to Agathiyar's bronze statue. Following another dictate of Tavayogi, I began performing the Homam. Sourcing songs from Mataji for the libation and the Siddha Potri or names of Siddhas from Tavayogi to be recited during the Homam, I moved on to uncharted territories, rituals that were alien to me and sacred in nature usually carried out by priest from the temples.

Soon I began devising new approaches and ways and simplified my worship. Today an elaborate and time consuming puja only takes 40 minutes to complete. But the results and quality of worship is sustained.

I shall list out this journey of mine for the few readers who wanted to learn about worship of Siddhas and the way to conduct puja for them. Might I remind them that this was practical for me and worked for me. You are free to experiment and revise accordingly to your needs and time available.

Year 2001.

I received a Vasudeva mantra "Aum Namo Bhagavathe Vasudevaya Nama" from a mysterious source that came through my nephew. A few days later I received Lord Dhakshanamurthy picture to be worshiped again through my nephew. I receive further mantras for Ambal, a timely deliverance through him, for the Navarathri prayers.

Year 2002.

Asking me to come to worship the Siddhas, Agathiyar arranged for the Nadi Nool Aasan to conduct a puja for the Nadi and its authors the Siddhas. It included the recitation of the names of the Siddhas. I learnt to worship the Siddhas that day. Before I left Sivabalan gave me my very first picture of Agathiyar to worship. Now equipped with a picture and the list of names of Siddhas my worship towards the Siddhas began.
