PACKAGING & MARKETING

I do not usually watch movies. When my family comes across a good movie or scene they share it with me. This was one of those movies. For one who has seen the movie SAGUNI would have come across a very poignant message delivered through a comic scene. A Guru who was a good orator, unfortunately could not capture nor sustain the attention span of his devotees who were more interested in his handout of get cure and get rich quick talisman and other stuffs, is observed by a lad from a distance. He approaches the Guru with an idea and offers to bring a change. The lad mentions to the Guru that what he needed to do was to repackage and market his "product" anew. The Guru was asked to stop talking! When the Guru stopped speaking everyone is anxious as to when he (the Guru) would speak next and whether he would speak to them or chose another. It turned out to be a successful move. Although it was a comedy sketch it made some sense too.

When Arunagiri was asked to remain silent by Lord Murugan, he eventually adopted that stance for 12 long years. So have many saints and gurus refrained from speaking for many long years. Many Siddhas are supposed to be in this meditative pose for years. When one stops speaking externally and internally the Lord starts speaking to him. Arunagiri listened to the Lord for 12 long years and upon coming out of his meditative state sang 16,000 verses of the THIRUPUGAZH, of which, I understand, only 3,000 remain and only 300 is in print . Ramalinga Adigal is supposed to have gone into oblivion for 12 long years only to emerge again in Chennai and deliver the THIRUARUTPA for us. While driving to our next destination in Malaysia, Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal asked me what the song was that was played on my CD player. I told him it was Ramalinga Adigal's ARUTPA. He immediately told me that one could attain Gnanam by just listening to the THIRUARUTPA. Tavayogi too once told me a disciple will have to wait 12 years where the Guru shall evaluate and finally if he favors, confer on him what the guru feels he (the student) deserves.

My mother told me that as a child I used to fall sick often. Once I was purging badly. Fearing that they would loose me just as they lost two of my siblings earlier for the same reason, they brought me to their neighbor at that time. He was a Chinese and he was a medicine man and shaman. I was cured and since then seeked him out for all my illnesses until I was 13. He used to go into a trance hitting his back with the blunt edge of a sword and would start to chant, write certain Chinese characters on a yellow strip of rice paper, burn it and place the ashes in a glass of water which he passes to me to drink. At his altar was a magnificent huge painting of a Chinese deity who became my God Father. There were Chinese characters that were worshiped too at his altar.

I knew the efficacy of the character or word later as it kept me alive all these years.

I just came back from attending a 3 day course in acquiring certain mind mastering skills under the program known as the Law of Attraction and Neuro Linguistic Programming. I had attended this course earlier in 2012 and it captivated me a lot. I used to promote it to friends and family alike. I had another opportunity to attend again last week. After a series of lectures and hands on practice of certain techniques, I returned home to campaign this program to all.

At many junctures during the course, I realized basically what was taught was in line with the teachings of the Siddhas too, only packaged and marketed in a different form. We are taught to think out of the box. We are taught to understand that there are many solutions to a problem; that there are many possibilities available for enhancing oneself too. We are taught to recognize and use the very tools we have in hand to tackle a situation and use it to find a solution. We are taught to respect all opinions as everyone is entitled to his views and opinion which was also right if viewed from his "point of view" and perspective. We are cautioned against using negative words as it would attract negative things; instead we are told to strengthen the positive traits in us.

Agathiyar has always said the same. He starts with the very basic – characteristics of a good person. They speak about good morals and attributes. Agathiyar expects one to have good thought, speak good and perform good deeds too. Agathiyar ask to refrain from bad or evil since it has repercussions that are passed on to generations and these negative vasanas will be etched very deeply in time.

Tiruvalluvar in the TIRUKURAL, reminds us of the following: be righteous; be kind in speech; be grateful; maintain self-control; do not desire another man‘s wife; be forgiving; do not envy; do not covet; do not slander; perform charity; be truthful; abstain from anger; and be courteous.

Avvai in her work entitled ATHI CHUDI has 109 advises for us, among them: do good; control anger; do not hinder aid to others; feed the hungry; help the needy; keep reading; do not be jealous of other‘s achievement; help your relatives and friends grow with you; look after your parents; do not forget those who have come to your aid; do not secure what does not belong to you; do not venture into things that are degrading by nature; abstain from using harsh language; refrain from thinking degrading thoughts; do not harm others; give your best in every venture that you undertake; lead an honest life; respect others.

The very first lesson that the Siddhas teach us is to bring change in our behavior, speech and beliefs. The Siddhas emphasize on character building, good behavior, right conduct, right knowledge, and yogic practices. They ask us to restrain our anger, lust and ego. Once we take care of these, then perception and understanding will changed accordingly. The world will still be the same, nevertheless we shall see the world differently. We shall see it in a different perspective then. When man drops all forms of differentiation, hence none of the negativity will arise in him. Instead only compassion will arise. Good deeds will then multiply, and eventually a closely knitted family and society will emerge.

My department chose the perfect venue to host this course as it required calm and peace to set in before one could take on the techniques to bring change within us. I wish to share some photos of this hill resort, Frasers Hill in Malaysia. The place reminded me of the dense jungle of Kallar and the beauty of Ooty.

DETERMINATION TAKES YOU PLACES

Om Agasthiya Nama sent me a link of a video that amazed me and I started searching more about that video and the singer as he was a Malaysian too.

And here is my childrens' small attempt at a classical presentation in conjunction with Vinayagar's Chaturthi at Agathiyar Vanam.

SIDDHAR PUJA

THE BIRTH - A PRICED GIFT

Taking birth is a priced gift. The world is where one exhaust and eradicates his karma. This is the place where individuals work out their karma. The Almighty has given man the opportunity to fulfill the sole purpose of taking birth which is to reduce the karma baggage carried from the many previous births. Looking for ways and means to reduce one's baggage in the current birth, he is also given the choice to create or not to create fresh karma too.

Every Atma is an image of the Paramatma but does not realize this fact because its covered with desire, attachment, karma and illusion or Maya. Instead of seeking his creator, man chooses to seek his creations and gets attached to it. This happens as a result of Maya or illusion that blinds the Atma. Fate or destiny has a hand in the play of this Maya. The Almighty decides the fate and and dictates it, according to the past karma. Hence man suffers.

Mei Gnanam is living beyond all that brings pleasure and similarly all that brings sorrow too. Whether one understands or not, he has to be steadfast on this path. He has to walk a path of truth (Sathyam) and just (Dharma). As one walks this life of truth and dharma, karma shall reduce eventually. Sufferings will lessen when previous karma is lessened.

Karma can be exhausted by taking the sufferings upon oneself, by doing charity and by conducting prayers. Karma is lessen by doing service to others, helping those in need, performing charity, feeding the poor and unfortunate, feeding animals and by holding prayers and conducting rituals like the Yagam or lighting of the sacrificial fire.

The hungry should be fed. Although giving a potion of what we have is a great gesture and gains much merit, parting with all we have is even a more superior gesture. Agathiyar has mentioned that when another is fed one's karma is diminished. Besides that, the karma of the one fed is also removed. Prayers do much good. Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal always quotes a hymn "Potrinaal Unathu Vinai Agalum Appa" which means prayers indeed help remove karma. Agathiyar says to go beyond all sufferings, prayer is a very efficient tool. Agathiyar has told me in my Nadi to conduct prayers and light the sacrificial fire for these are the means to lessen karma. Agathiyar expects one to have good thought, speak good and perform good deeds too. Agathiyar ask to refrain from bad or evil since it has repercussions that are passed on to generations and these negative vasanas will be etched very deeply in time.

Much is revealed through the Nadi readings including one's past karma. Seeking the Nadi and having a satisfactory reading too depends on one's karma. Agathiyar explains the workings of the Nadi. Although the Siddhas have the ability to look into the past, the present and into the future, and look into all the events, happenings and look into the thoughts of man, they only reveal when the Almighty permits. Agathiyar mentions two instance where the Almighty goes looking for the disciple. If he lives in accord to his conscience and if he is truthful, having conscience and compassion.

Just as man behaves differently to others according to the place, the situation, and his relationship with the other, similarly it is with the Siddhas. The merits of the Nadi reader and the seeker, their extent of devotion and amount of charity done too is taken into consideration for a good reading to take place. At times the Nadi readings turn out true and at other times false. The seeker is saddened, frustrated and angered if what is said in the Nadi does not materialize. He is angered because he feels cheated by one who professes to be an instrument of the Siddhas. He is cheated of his cash and feels having wasted his time. The Siddhas are not the least angered when the seekers approach them with caution, hesitation or doubt as many have used the Siddhas and professed in their names to work wonders and miracles only to trick and cheat the public. Many cheat their fellowman in the name of God too.

Agathiyar reveals that one need not necessarily undergo suffering to diminish his past karma. Agathiyar explains that been cheated is a form of removal of karma too. Agathiyar says if one was to be cheated it would only mean that he had cheated someone sometime before in the past or in the previous and past birth. If one were to lose his hard earned cash to a manipulative or crooked person, it also means the victim's karma has been lessened.  One needs to be aware, pure in heart, and have a clear mind. Even if after pursuing these honorable qualities and ethics, yet if he were to be deceived by an individual or organisation then its solely because of his past karma. Agathiyar surprises us by revealing that by cheating a person one is removing his victim's karma and also parting with his good karma and merits to his victim. One will not feel cheated and would not himself want to cheat another if he understands this and the workings of karma.

One could ask why doesn't the Almighty take them to task or apprehend these wrong doers? Agathiyar answers that this is how the world functions, providing an avenue for all events to take place, good and bad, happy and sad, all for the sole purpose of working out their individual karmas. Hence there is a need for all kinds of people on the face of this earth for an efficient and orderly fulfillment of the karmic law and order. The world is where one exhaust and eradicates his karma. Accordingly to his thoughts, action, words and deeds the karma is lessened or totally eradicated. With this understanding and having this thought in mind, when we train ourselves to see things this way, all truth shall will be simple and shall appear to be fair.

The Siddhas are impartial, and do not differentiate between man. Agathiyar addresses all man with the approval of the Almighty solely with the intention to help man change and set him back on the right track. To save man from falling further into the pit, the Siddhas reveal the truth, however bitter it is to prevent him from further committing more wrong doings. With the proper guidance from the Siddhas, eventually man arises from his current state of illusion and gains the confidence to battle the wrong or evil in him.

Once love for fellow humans and other creations sets in, man dismisses all other thoughts and drops all forms of differentiation, thus only seeing the Atma in the other. This is Atma Darisanam. When one begins to honor the other Atma, acknowledging that he too has taken a birth to work out his karma just as us; understanding that this world was not created solely for an individual; once we realize that this world is God's creation and all other beings too have taken birth to live a life of fulfillment just as we have, then none of the negativity will arise in us. Instead only compassion will arise. Good deeds will then multiply, and eventually a closely knitted family and society will emerge. Agathiyar reminds us to carry out our responsibilities towards the family and society. He also asked that we do not see these responsibilities as a burden. He ask that we "Simplify life".

Man has to live life accordingly so as to rid his karma vasanas. Man has to seek good merits rather than bad. Once having overcome these adversities and loosing all attachment to all things that bring sorrow, the search for Atma Gnanam would become fruitful.

A PICTORIAL JOURNAL OF JNANA JYOTHIAMMA'S SPIRITUAL JOURNEY

The above is a compilation of photos taken throughout the spiritual journey of Jnana Jyotiamma that started many years ago. Born in Kerala, studied in Chennai and having migrated to the USA, she was ever guided by the Divine Mother and Karupanasamy. They revealed the mystery behind many happenings to her. Having worked on her, in 2011 they decided to hand her over to Agathiyar, once Jnana Jyothiamma completed the temple for Karupanasamy in Chennai. It all culminated when she went to the Sri Agathiyar Gnana Peedham at Kallar where she was initiated by Agathiyar. After Kallar she returned to the USA. A year later she came back to participate in the Agathiyar Jayanthi and Guru Puja Vizha and the Sarva Dosa Nivarana Maha Yagam in Kallar. She was called to Siddha samadhis, caves, meditation spots and temples in and around Karamadai, Papanasam, Kalyana Theertam, Kothaiyar, Palani, Vadalur, Erode, Thiruvannamalai, Trichy, Krishnagiri and of course in and around Chennai. She journeyed to Malaysia twice too.

Siddha Heartbeat thanks Dr VM Jayapalan of the Agathiyar Mei Jnana Sabai, Bangalore for permission to use the audio track in this clip. Agathiyar Arul Kavasam was penned by Dr VM Jayapalan, set to music by Subramani and sang by Sandhya. A lovely piece on Agathiyar. The Dr introduces the album.

Nambinal Nambungal - Episode 23 - July 30, 2014

Here is an amazing coverage of Agathiyar's Jeeva Nadha Brahma Suvadi from an episode of the television series Nambinal Nambungal introduced by Arul of ZeeTamil network. It is said that the Suvadi 'speaks' with its owner. This rare Jeeva Suvadi is not available easily to many, one has to go through much 'tests' by Siddhas and obstacles to possess one. Sri Muthukumara Swami of Courtallam is in possession of this Jeeva Nadha Brahma Suvadi. He was gifted with the Suvadi in 1997. The Suvadi is said to answer doubts of the people.

The story of how this mystical and mysterious Suvadi or Nadi came to be delivered to Muthukumara Swami is an amazing one. Muthukumara Swami lead a normal life like others not the least interested in spiritualism. He was an assistant to the late famed poet laureate Amarar Kannadhasan.

Once he was given an opportunity to document all Shiva temples for a television series with Elango of Madurai, which was to become his first step into spiritualism. While covering a Shiva temple at Shivasalem, there was a delay in the delivery of food to them. Apparently at that temple a Guru Puja was being conducted at that time. Muthukumara Swami sat to partake the temple food when someone approached him and informed him that 'Periya Swami' had called for him. Muthukumara Swami went to see the person who had called for him immediately. The person turned out to be Kaasi Swami of Thirupananthal. Kaasi Swami told him,"The Atma in you is related to the Divine. This Atma in you lived during the times of Agathiyar." He indicated to him that he would find some Olai Suvadi in the earth, where a snakes den or puttru was located, at the confluence of the 5 rivers or Aintharuvi. "It will appear as soil to you but once placed in the hands of a recipient it will take the form of Olai Suvadi", revealed Kaasi Swami.

In 1997 Muthukumara Swami's health deteriorated day by day. He did not get any relief even after seeing several medical practitioners. It was in this circumstances that Agathiyar appeared in his dream for the very first time. Agathiyar instructed him to meditate at the spot of Agathiyar's paadham (imprint of Agathiyar's feet). Agathiyar assured him that many amazing events will take place hereafter.

Agathiyar told him to perform Puja for 48 days. Agathiyar explained that during the first 10 days of prayer, and lighting a lamp, the past karma will vanish. The next 10 days of prayers and lighting the lamp, will remove the present karma. During the remaining days of prayer, a snake will arise and descent. At that moment Agathiyar's patham and Kridham (head gear) will be visible, after which Muthukumara Swami would be conferred with a Siddhi known as Agathiyar Gnanam and Agathiyar's Suvadi.

Upon recovering from his illness, Muthukumara Swami's devotion to Agathiyar increased. Muthukumara Swami went to the places Agathiyar directed to continue his meditation. His five close friends accompanied him. Finally Agathiyar dictated him to bring along water from the Shenbaga Devi waterfalls, 2 liters of milk, and other stuffs used for libation or abhisegam, to his padham and the puttru, on a full moon.

On the 48th day, a serpent climbed on his shoulders and back and blocked the light that Muthukumara Swami used to meditate on. Immediately upon blocking the light a parabrahma jyothi appeared in the form of Agathiyar and was visible to his friends and him. Immediately a rain of kunkum fell on them.

Muthukumara Swami picked up the soil from the snake's den and placed it in Supramania's palms. The soil turned to form the Olai Suvadi! There was 45 olai or leaves in that bundle. Muthukumara Swami and his friends had no idea how and for what purposes they were blessed with the Suvadi. They placed it on Agathiyar's padham and performed Puja and used to take it back home. Muthukumara Swami did not have the slightest notion that the Suvadi will be his life in the future, then.

The next full moon, as usual Muthukumara Swami and his friends came to perform libation to Agathiyar's padham and the snake's den. Again Agathiyar came on Muthukumara Swami and revealed that to know how to use the Suvadi, they needed to go to Thiruvannamalai, beg for food daily for 10 days and consume it.  At Thiruvannamalai a Siddha appeared to him and asked that he go and pray at a place called Sattrusangaara Kottai where his enmity will be removed and told him after that the Suvadi will 'speak'.

After worshiping at the said temple, Muthukumara Swami brought the Suvadi back to Courtallam and placed it at the Goddess's feet. He pieced his ear in the presence of his family and kin, and wore an earring made in the form of the Pranava Mantra AUM or ஓம் as instructed by the Siddha. Only after that did he realize that what was gifted to him was Agathiyar's gift to him, a treasure known as Jeeva Nadham. Agathiyar dictated to him as to who and when he was to read the Suvadi the very first time. That person happened to be a girl known as Shenbaga Devi. From that day forward Muthukumara Swami devoted his life to Agathiyar and the Suvadi. The very first time the Suvadi 'spoke' he could not comprehend it. After that the Suvadi and Muthukumara Swami became 'companions'. He comprehends all that is said and delivers the message to the public.

In this Suvadi there are no permanently etched letters. The letters appear and disappear accordingly to the problems of the person seeking the Suvadi. The Suvadi 'speaks' the future of all those who sit before it. The seekers write down what is being said and related by Muthukumara Swami from the Suvadi, as he does not remember what the Suvadi tells him after reading it. People can visibly see the writings emerge in the Suvadi although only Muthukumara Swami can hear it speak.

Muthukumara Swamigal says the snakes den was abound in mystic and mystery. Muthukumara Swami performed a feat before ZeeTamils network's Arun. A handful of soil that Muthukumara Swamigal picked up at the snake's den turn to yellow immediately. Muthukumara Swami goes on to add that there was a world inhabited by Siddhas under the snake's den and that there was a massive pond too. Muthukumara Swami continues to perform tapas, and sincerely adheres to the instructions of Agathiyar, fearing otherwise the Suvadi would lose its powers or shakti.

As the Suvadi was rare and mysterious, some had tried to lay their hands on it. But even if someone tried, they would not be able to hear the Suvadi 'speak'.

After he was gifted with the Suvadi, Muthukumara Swami brought many changes into his life. He is now fully on the path of the Siddhas. He meditates at the spot where Azhukanni Siddhar had meditated for 5 hours on Panjami days.

Muthukumara Swami sees only 6 people a day on the directives of Agathiyar, although he makes exceptions in the cases of people yearning for a child or wanting to know about their marriage. Besides that he reads the Suvadi for the public at the Shenbaga Devi temple at Courtallam on Full Moon days.

Muthukumara Swami generally does not read the Suvadi elsewhere in the public. He reveals another interesting and amazing information. If under unforeseen circumstances, it was necessary to reveal about a person, although Muthukumara Swami does not have the Suvadi on him, all he needs is a wall! If that person was Agathiyar's son or a disciple of Agathiyar in the past, the reading appears behind him (the person) on the wall!

A friend of mine from Slovenia, a little country bordering Italy, told me a similar episode some time back. A friend of his, a Frenchman, was taken to see a Swamiji in Pondicherry by a local Indian. After the formalities were over the Swamiji lead them on a Puja. He drew a Chakra on the ground and placed flowers into the Yantra while chanting hymns. Suddenly a Nadi materialized and rose from the ground and was placed in the palms of the Swamiji. The Swamiji read from the Nadi. Agathiyar had news for the Swamiji, the Frenchman and the Indian! The Swamiji has since passed away. My friend is still seeking if there was someone out there who could conduct a similar feat.

WALKING WITH THE SIDDHAS

As we walk the path of the Siddhas, they begin to reveal more and more about life's mysteries. Their doctrine is very simple indeed. It is practical. Something we can put into practice. It becomes part and parcel of our everyday life. It becomes a way of living. It is simply marvelous.

I realized now why Nadi Guru Ramesh once asked me why the present day gurus do not talk about karma. Ramesh should know better for he has had a very long standing relationship with Agathiyar and the Siddhas, having read the Nadi's of thousands of individuals.

The Siddhas always start their task of molding an individual by first stating his past karma. Once he is briefed about karma, its effects and consequences, and how he had created sufficient past karma to justify his present birth, he can take the necessary steps not to repeat them thus not prolonging his stay here and also having no reason to come back again. Agathiyar has said that the world will end only when all of the Almighty's creation have exhausted its karma. Until and unless the last human, animal or Devas still carries the baggage of karma, the world will be the frontier for the karma to be worked out.

As we walk hand in hand with the Siddhas, they start educating us about life and creation. With this knowledge available to us, we can mend our ways and tread carefully in the future. The Siddhas bring us back to the basics, to start by moving up from being one having cravings and characteristics of animals to a man; and move on to be a great man; and on to being an even greater man and then become a Gandharva, Deva, and eventually a Mahaan. Towards this ideal, the Siddhas have written and documented their experiences and findings in the form of literature, hymns and epics.

Tiruvalluvar gave us the TIRUKURAL. Avvai gave us the AVVAI PADAL, AATTHI CHUDI and KONRAI VENTHAN, all in the Tamil language. Pathanjali gave us the YOGA SUTRAS. Svatmarama gave us the HATHA YOGA PRADIPIKA and Agathiyar gave us his AGASTIYAR GNANAM. Ramalinga Adigal documented his entire life's experiences in more than 6,000 hymns compiled later as the THIRUARUTPA.

They start with the very basic – characteristics of a good person. They speak about good morals and attributes.

Similarly Avvai in KONRAI VENTHAN, has 91 advises for us. Through MUTHURAI, she has 30 advices and another 40 in NALVAZHI.

Pathanjali has laid out eight stages in his yoga sutras: Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, and Samadhi.

Agathiyar through his AGASTIYAR GNANAM spells out the attributes that one should seek and become. Listen to a portion of Agathiyar‘s work at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAj1FSfO3Qo

Ramalinga Adigal one of the greatest Siddhas to appear only 191 years ago in 1823 expounds this concept about there being seven veils and demonstrates them in the Sathya Gnana Sabai that he had envisioned and built in Vadalur for all to see. Adigal placed seven veils depicting various stages of Maya or illusion and when all the curtains are pulled aside reveals the ultimate truth, that he mentions as Arutperunjhoti, the true self devoid of Malas. Ramalinga Adigal defines these seven veils of spiritual ignorance as lust (kamam), anger (krodham), greed (lobham), infatuation (moham), pride (ynadha), malice (matsaryam) and killings (kolai). Ramalinga Adigal says we have to drop these seven veils that cover us preventing us from seeing the truth and reaching it. Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal demonstrates this concept too through the seven-tier granite structure that he was instructed to install at his ashram in Kallar by Agathiyar. After dropping or overcoming these seven veils of ignorance or Maya one reaches the summit or peak symbolically represented by light as in Vadalur and Kallar.

Jyothi at Kallar
The very first lesson that the Siddhas teach us is to bring change in our behavior, speech and beliefs. The Siddhas emphasize on character building, good behavior, right conduct, right knowledge, and yogic practices. They ask us to restrain our anger, lust and ego. Once we take care of these, then perception and understanding will changed accordingly. The world will still be the same, nevertheless we shall see the world differently. We shall see it in a different perspective then. We shall accept everything as the Almighty's doing. We shall go with the flow. Moving further on there comes a stage where nothing is understood, instead everything is known.

Agathiyar in my Nadi readings has mentioned the importance of overcoming the adverse feelings in order to rise to the level of a Siddha. These are the very basic requirements that one has to have in order to transcend further to the state of compassion that is required for a Siddha. Ramalinga Adigal and Siddhartha were very compassionate towards other beings. These features in them lead them on towards attaining the effulgence and nirvana respectively.

Through the Siddhas' teachings and guidance, we build up the body and soul to make it a suitable dwelling for the Lord. The Siddhas tell us to care for the body for it is only with this body that we can achieve God realization. Thirumoolar mentions in his TIRUMANTHIRAM that he had regarded his body as dirt only to realize later that it is the abode and temple of the Lord. Since then he had taken extra care of it.

Siddhas through research into the mysteries of the body and soul, evolved themselves into the ultimate. The Siddhas strive to achieve Godhead by means of performing austerities together with living a life of discipline. The Sidhas had searched the nooks and corners of this universe for God and finally realized God in them. Towards this, they perfected the means to enable the body to remain alive for generations and eons and to this date are believed to be living among us. They then taught their disciples this path. Together they then laid them out in writings for the future generations to cherish and follow. It is wonderful indeed that the Siddhas had documented every finding and discovery and till this day guide humans through their writings and the Nadi. Having achieved deathlessness, they render their knowledge to humanity encouraging them to follow suit.

However, not everybody can realize God in them immediately. The Siddhas realized that each person is an individual in his known right having gained experiences through several births and advancing spiritually at his own pace. Realizing that for one to attain spiritual illumination on the onset is a difficult task, the Siddhas devised, drafted and take us through four stages on the path of the soul's evolution, from the elementary level to the attainment of gnosis (Jnanam) so that every individual would have and opportunity and could get on the bandwagon to Godhead, making sure no one was left out. The Siddhas paved the path where one would have to go through the four divisions of yoga towards God realization in a systematic way. They are namely: Sariyai, Kriyai, Yogam and Gnanam. Man confirms to any one of this stage according to his temperament and nature; beliefs and thoughts; and upbringing and faith and his karma.

The Siddhas are ever eager to share their experiences. They are waiting for potential aspirants to come by. At other times, they go in search of the aspirant himself and confront him. All that is required of one is to be receptive enough and submit to them and they shall show him the path. When one has faith and belief in them, they point out signposts, and lead them to mortal gurus. When he adheres to the teachings of the guru and the Siddhas, they start to provide him with guidelines to follow, either through gurus, the Nadi or they come personally. After some time into the worship of the Siddhas, they then show signs of their presence by giving darshans. One needs to be alert though to recognize these signs.

Making appearances and creating miracles can help strengthen one's belief and faith in the Siddhas as Suresh Srinivasan commented on this blog, "Whenever our faith weakens and doubts creep in, we can refer to these photos (of miracles), to get back on track again."

Taking hold of his hands, the day then comes when the Siddhas shall carry him on their shoulders as a father carries his child or a mother in her arms. Then there is no more paths for him to walk on for his path is their path too. There will only be one set of footprints then - that of the Almighty. At that stage, he lives his life for God, not for himself. God moves in him. He only becomes a tool to carry out God's massive tasks of getting humans to realize their full potential and beget self-realization.

Siddhas have walked the path to Godhead. By holding on to them, we too can see and experience all that was seen and experienced by them. We need to get their attention, sincerely adhere to their instructions and guidance, and pray that they show solace, compassion and shower their grace onto us.

It is a long journey though, where one need's to care for this body to receive God in him and eventually merged with God. One needs to prepare this body, which then evolves into a temple so that God is received into this body. One needs to take steps to prepare it to unite with him while still alive in this very body. God then resides in his body, in every cell and atom and brings changes to his body. The changes take place internally, which slowly influences his outer appearances, thoughts, and the way he sees things. Through their teachings and guidance, we build up the body and soul to make it a suitable dwelling for the Lord.

The Siddha Margam is the simplest path to Godhead. When we call out the names of these Siddhas, their attention falls on us. Once God and the Siddhas shower their grace we are assured of their blessing and we then shall have the strength to undertake our mission with an assurance of success. The results are seen immediately. Devotees of the Siddhas can attest to this truth.

THE COMING OF THE AGE OF THE SIDDHAS (PART 2)

The Kaanda Nadi or revelations about individuals written by the Siddhas on dried palm leaves in the possession of Nadi readers, is being read extensively throughout India and also in other parts of the world. On the other hand only a few blessed souls have had the honor to be gifted with the mystical Jeeva Nadi, which are revelations in real time.

The late Jeeva Nadi Guru of Chennai was one blessed soul. Another blessed soul to be given the opportunity to read the Jeeva Nadi is Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal of the Sri Agathiyar Sri Thava Murugar Gnana Peedham at Kallar. Tavayogi has been blessed to receive the Jeeva Nadi. He began reading it since 2011 and only on Saturdays. Later Agathiyar graciously permitted Tavayogi to read on Wednesdays too.

Tavayogi told me once, do not take on the sorrows of others, but point them to Agathiyar. Yes. There is a way indeed. Take an appointment with Agathiyar. Listen to him address our problems through the mystical Jeeva Nadi or as my friend from Slovenia calls it the Oracle. Place your sorrows at Agathiyar's feet. Let him find you a solution out of your predicament. The most compassionate Agathiyar shall advise you on what to do next. Go with faith and belief. Receive the message conveyed to you by Agathiyar through the Nadi. Do not probe the vessel through which the message is conveyed. If there are atonement or parikaram carry them out with sincerity and diligently. All will end well. Many devotees have benefited from these revelations.

I have yet to have the Jeeva Nadi revelations read to me by Agathiyar through Tavayogi, although I have had readings from the Kaanda Nadi by Nadi Guru Sentilkumar of Avinash and various other Nadis by Nadi Guru Ramesh of Kumbakonam.

To know more about the Jeeva Nadi and the Siddhas' revelations drop in on Velayudham Karthikeyan's blog Siththan Arul. Some of these revelations are also available and have been published in 5 volumes by Aranthangi Shanker entitled NADI SOLLUM KATHAIGAL.

Many years back I was passed a document titled SIDDHA AGASTHYA – FOREMOST OF THE SIDDHAS by Nadi Guru Ramesh. In it were amazing revelations about Agathiyar, the Siddhas and their contributions towards society and humanity. In that article, Dr. Mandayam Kumar of the Siddha Medical Research Institute, Bangalore says it was possible to find out details about Agathiyar during the course of literary research on the Siddha medical sciences in a Tamil manuscript written on Nadi or palm leaves about 3,000 years ago. The text is titled PRAPANCHA KAANDAM and runs into several volumes according to the Dr. The text is attributed to Lord Murugan. Agathiyar dictated the contents of the Nadi while his student Pulastyar recorded it.

The original Tamil manuscript of PRAPANCHA KAANDAM is in the care of Pandit S. Jayanari of Vellore says Dr. Mandayam Kumar. The Dr. briefly introduces Agathiyar and the Siddhas.

“Siddhars are those who have attained perfection in yogic practices to ultimately reach the stage of immortality. Through higher-level yogic practices, they attain a state of ultra-luminosity that results in invisibility; thus, they remain impervious to ordinary vision. Such Siddhars work incessantly for the propagation of knowledge and the evolution of souls.”

“Agathiyar Muni is considered to be the embodiment of one of the nine celestial intellectuals who came to this earth for enlightening human beings.”

Agathiyar reveals in the nadi that he has indeed taken birth many times to set humanity on the right track. Pon. Govindaswamy in his book, SIRSABAIYUM PORSABAIYUM, (Bharath Book Bureau, 1985), mentions that Agathiyar took birth as Valluvar and gave us the TIRUKURAL besides other texts. He mentions too that Agathiyar took birth as Ramalinga Adigal in the 19th century and gave us the THIRUARUTPA.

As his thirst for knowledge in particular on philosophy, yoga, medicine, and astronomy was immense, Agathiyar traveled all over Kashmir, Tibet, China, Nepal, and Kailas in Manchuria. (Mount Kailas was deemed to be in Manchuria those days). He became a disciple of Nandi and Dhanvantri.

He then traveled towards the south to Cambodia and Malaya (present day Malaysia). In Cambodia, he established the very first of his many educational institutions for the propagation of philosophy and science.

After establishing a similar institution and hospital in Malaya, he crossed the sea to the continent of Kumari Kandam (during Agathiyar’s time, Kumari Kandam occupied a vast area extending from the present day Sri Lanka to the Antarctic. Ravana, a great devotee of Lord Shiva, ruled this continent). King Ravana gave away a portion of his kingdom to Agathiyar to establish more institutions. The foremost of these institutions in this region was known as Arunodaya Giri or Meozone. Here Agathiyar practiced yoga and taught it to his large following of disciples.

Agathiyar then went back north to Malaya. He returned to Kumari Kandam where he met Lord Murugan in the form of Supramaniar at Trikona Malai (present day Trincomali). At the hill station called Kadari Kama or Kadhirgama, Lord Murugan imparted spiritual knowledge to Agathiyar.

Dr. Mandayam Kumar says Agathiyar could see impending calamities take place in the future during his meditation. As a result, he moved to the North Pole considering it to be a save place. This period of his move to the arctic was said to coincide with the end of the Dwapara Yuga placed at about 6580 BC. Just as he had seen of an impending calamity and had decided to move north, a tremendous explosion in the planet mars sends a piece of debris towards earth. This impact caused a great deluge on the earth. Significant portions of Kumari Kandam submerged into the Indian Ocean. Continental drift then resulted in the present day arrangement of this region.

After the great flood Kailas was no more but instead the Himalayan mountain range had emerged in north India.

Amidst all this geographical changes, says the Dr, Agathiyar went seeking for a place that would not be affected by future calamities. He located a mountain range in south India. This is the present day Courtalam. This spot is said to be the safest place and free from any future catastrophes.

Here Agathiyar met Lord Shiva and Uma in the form of Dhakshinamurthi and Shenbaga Devi. The spot where the meeting took place between Dhakshinamurthi, Shenbaga Devi, Lord Murugan, and Agathiyar was Mahadeva Giri. This meeting also signified the commencement of Kali Yuga.

Other Siddhas then started coming to Mahadeva Giri. Lord Dhakshinamurthi revived the knowledge of the Vedas and instructed these Siddhas to propagate this knowledge at the appropriate manner and time for the benefit of humanity. The imparting of this knowledge was said to have taken place on the 21 day of the Tamil month of Kartigai, during the eleventh year, Eswara Samvatsara, of Kali Yuga. Agathiyar gave much importance to this day. All his dating was reckoned from this day.

The Siddhas recorded their knowledge on palm leaves after extensive discussions held in Alagan Kulam and presented them to Lord Dhakshinamurthi for his perusal. This included the 64 kinds of learning, 18 Puranas, 96 tatvas, and 48 branches of scientific knowledge. The entire literature in Tamil came to be called SIDDHAVEDA.

Bhogar from China (Agathiyar in the Jeeva Nadi revelation to the late Jeeva Nadi Guru of Chennai says Bhogar was from Mongolia), Thaeraiyar from Malaya, Yugimuni from Kerala, Pulipani from Kantha Malai, Pulastyar, and Kapiyar all served Agathiyar.

The Siddhas went on to establish numerous institutions. An institution known as Siddhar Gnana Koodam was inaugurated by Lord Murugan and was headed by Agathiyar. Pulastyar and Kapilar headed the literary section while Pulipani in research. Thaeraiyar who was into surgery headed a medical research centre established at Thorana Malai. Yugimuni who was into herbal medicines headed an ayurvedic hospital at Paradesi Kundai. Bhogar who was in charge of all scientific researches established an alchemy research centre at Tiruparankundram. Pambatti was heading a team researching venom at Marudamalai.

After having established these institutions Agathiyar again started on an extensive mission of propagating the wealth of knowledge gained by these Siddhas in Tibet, Manchuria, Egypt, Palestine, Rome, America, Africa, Malaya and the Arab world.

After satisfactorily completing their mission of propagating the said teachings the Siddhas merged themselves into the cosmos. Supramaniar in Thorana Malai, Bhogar in Palani, Thaeraiyar, Pulipani and Yugimuni in Kantha Malai and Agathiyar himself choose to come back to Courtalam. He chose a spot called Dhashina Meru in the Pothigai hills. This spot is also the abode of Dhakshinamurthi.

M. Govindan in BABAJI AND THE 18 SIDDHA KRIYA YOGA TRADITION, (Kriyayoga Publications, Quebec, Canada, 1991), details Agathiyar's journey as starting at Agastya Ashram near Nasik (Pancavati in ancient times), and meeting up with Rama. Then his pilgrimage takes him south where he has a residence at Malakuta near Badami (ancient Vatapi Puram or Dakshina Kasi). Then he comes to Pothigai hills. He moves on to the Indonesian islands, Borneo, and takes up residence in Maha Malaya hill in Malaya Dvipa. He enters Siam (present day Thailand) and Cambodia.

Agathiyar is reported to be living until the present day at Courtalam.

Siddhas roamed the hills and jungles. Agathiyar explains the significance of these hills. Generally these hills are in abundance of herbs. A herb or a tree that grows in these hills has 100 times more potential than those grown or found in the plains. Considering this, temples were built on top of these hills, and man was directed to pray at these temples to reap these immense benefits. Agathiyar explains the benefits of walking and hiking up these hills too. A daily routine of going up and coming down the hills will rejuvenate all the 22,000 odd nerves in one's body. This is the physical benefit gained.

On the spiritual aspect, one's karma is reduced, based on the physical exhaustion and tiredness as a result of hiking up the hills. Together with contemplation and continuous prayers, karma is eventually reduced. When I was at Palani in 2003, I could not move my feet as I tried painfully to climb the hill temple. I was fit as a fiddle until then. But mysteriously I could not even budge an inch. I forced myself to take the steps, panting and struggling, until I collapsed on arrival at the top of Palani hill. I was conscious but extremely exhausted and drained out. It was only after some time that I came back to my normal state and could continue to have a darshan of Lord Murugan. Today I understand why I faced the difficulty climbing Palani. I had so much karma baggage that had to be dropped before the Lord would see me.

Agathiyar advocates many other ways to reduce one's karma. Agathiyar reveals that the Kallar Hills is a place where one's karma done in the past births, even karma done by the forefathers, and curses are very quickly reduced. Tavayogi too told me the reason he began performing the Yagam or the lighting of the sacrificial fire, was to help reduce the effects of natural calamities and to help reduce the karma of its participants. He name the Yagam appropriately as Sarva Dosa Nivaarana Maha Yagam. Mataji says many have returned to show their appreciation to Agathiyar, Tavayogi and the Jeeva Arul Nadi upon having their wishes fulfilled.

Agathiyar advocates that man adhere to honesty, perform service to mankind, do charity together with devotion, and surrender to the Almighty. Eventually man gain's Mukti. Mukti means achieving a high level or stature. The Atma, covered by possessiveness, illusion, ignorance, desires, selfishness, and motivation and hence trapped in a body and caught in Maya or illusion, takes repeated birth and eventually escapes the chain of rebirth thus gaining Mukti. Once these illusions are dropped there arises an opportunity to move closer to the Almighty. Man has to leave behind all that once brought him limited happiness and joy. Determination is required to acquire that state. Agathiyar has another piece of advise; not to fret over misfortunes and shortcomings of this material world but instead to seek a life of dignity, and to seek Moksha as the Rishis did.

Agathiyar ask to give away all things precious, by doing thus, the Almighty shall then give back in multi fold. He asks to not to be apprehensive that the resources on hand might deplete but assures that by giving, one does not lose anything, rather would be gaining. Lets start giving.

Agathiyar advises that one drop all bad tendencies, and worries, and approach him as a child would approach his mother, then Agathiyar promises to remove man's karma, show him a means and a way to perform dharma and charity, and to carry out prestigious deeds that merit good karma, and eventually will show him the path to the Almighty. Not differentiating the paths and believing all paths lead to one, only then can Agathiyar show him the Almighty.

Agathiyar accesses the minds of those who come to him and speaks to them accordingly. To those who come seeking to be taught Vasi Yogam, Agathiyar has a piece of advise too. Agathiyar emphasizes that unless the past karma of the person seeking guidance is reduced, it is rare that one will gain the fruits of practicing either Vasi Yogam nor any other related means to a deathless life. Agathiyar says it is of utmost importance that one 'cleans' his body before taking Yoga lessons. As far as Agathiyar is concerned he does not teach such difficult Yoga methods to seekers but instead sets them on a much simpler path, the path of devotion or Bakthi together with charity. Agathiyar says that he will decide the right time for the seeker to start him on Yoga and will take it upon himself personally to teach. Agathiyar has taught some, he says, but sadly they kept returning to the material world. Hence without relinquishing their hold on this material world, and without a generous heart, Vasi Yoga would be pointless, says Agathiyar.

Agathiyar promises that those who come earnestly seeking the Siddhas for a solution to their life's problems, praying that their fate should change and seeking peace or shanti, that if they listen to him and take heed of his advise, the Almighty shall slowly but surely bring positive changes in their lifes'. It is not possible to define the form of the all pervading the Almighty. Towards this having merged in a particular form of the Almighty, and later experiencing the formless the Almighty is known as Meignanam. Since all his creations are within him and the Almighty is without a single form, nor a single name, Agathiyar chooses to use the term ERAI for the Almighty. As this ERAI takes on various forms, it is good that an individual worships the form best suited to his temperament. Until an individual takes that one thought, cherishes it and lives the thought, dwelling deep into the one, seeing the one in all places and under all circumstances, only then has he realized ERAI. ERAI is beyond the stages of Saayucham, Saairoopam, Saailogam, Saameebam too.

Agathiyar says to realize this ERAI all that is required is honesty and generosity. With this two virtues and a dash of devotion one can realize ERAI.

THE COMING OF THE AGE OF THE SIDDHAS (PART 1)

When I spoke to Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal a couple of days ago, he mentioned that many devotees had arrived at his ashram doors in Kallar after viewing and reading this blog. I listened with apprehension not knowing if it was a compliment or if my action in promoting the ashram was not favored by Tavayogi. I asked if I was right in promoting the ashram. I feared the public and the publicity might intrude into the privacy much sought by Tavayogi. Tavayogi answered "Nadathunga Magane" giving the go ahead.

The ashram in the beginning years
Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal at the end of his 13 year search for answers throughout the length and breadth of India, wanted to go into Samadhi. He put forward his wish to Agathiyar some thirteen years back. He was finally instructed to seek a place known as Agathiyar Vanam. Tavayogi asked around about Agathiyar Vanam and was pointed to Kallar. Initially upon arrival he stayed at a run down temple in the vicinity.

Agathiyar did not approve of Tavayogi going into samadhi as yet until he had had helped many souls come to the path of the Siddhas. Agathiyar had other plans for Tavayogi.

Along the way the local village head invited him to put up a shed at the present site of the ashram. As days went by, the public and devotees helped towards building a proper building. Tavayogi started performing charity by feeding the poor, the disabled, the underprivileged, the locals, the natives, and the visitors to the ashram with donations from the public and well wishers. He purchased and distributed clothing and stationary for the local kids too.

This building later housed the Aaru Aadhaara Peedham, a granite structure that was placed on the directive of Agathiyar.

Agathiyar instructed Tavayogi to go to Malaysia in 2004 and spread the teachings of the Siddhas. Tavayogi made another visit to Malaysia the following year. I met him during this visit and followed him to Kallar a couple of months after his departure. Tavayogi came back in 2007 to officiate the First World Conference of Siddha Philosophy held in Kuala Lumpur. Tavayogi and his  able aid and disciple Mataji Sarojini Ammaiyaar came back to Malaysia several times after that, officiating numerous Peedhams or establishments and conducting seminars, pattimandrams, holding talks and preaching the Siddha path.

Mataji Sarojini Ammaiyaar who was in dire straits came to Tavayogi. Tavayogi pointed her to his guru Chitramuthu Adigal. Chitramuthu Adigal blessed her that she would become a great orator which she eventually became! Mataji has helped spread the teachings of the Siddhas both at home and abroad.

Meanwhile devotees installed the 6 1/2 feet tall fiber statue of Agathiyar, and another of Thava Murugar at the ashram in Kallar. Lord Shiva was then worshiped in the form of a Shivalingam formed of a 1 1/2 tall rudraksham weighing 7 kg, handed to Tavayogi by a mysterious sadhu in the early morning hours just a couple of days before the annual Guru Puja Vizha or celebrations.

Later Tavayogi was directed to place a statue of Agathiyar in the hills of Kallar too. This place known as Mulasthaanam was the very spot Agathiyar had given Tavayogi his darshan.

Agathiyar in the hills of Kallar
Many a times, Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigalaar and Mataji Sarojini Ammaiyaar have extolled the significance of the Kallar hills where their ashram the Sri Agathiyar Sri Thava Murugar Gnana Peedham is situated. Kallar is mentioned in Agathiyar 12,000.

Tavayogi was instructed to perform the annual Sarva Dosa Nivarana Maha Yagam to help devotees 'burn' away their karmas by participating in the Yagam or the lighting of the sacrificial fire conducted at the ashram grounds. Agathiyar too mentions in my Nadi reading that by conducting Yagam or a smaller version of it, the Homam, it was possible to rid of one's karma. Tavayogi initiated me to start performing the Homam too.

Tavayogi has put into place and as a practice, these divine directives of Agathiyar for the good of man and his kind.

Believing that all this good work towards bringing mankind into the fold of the Siddhas has to be publicized and promoted, I started posting them on my numerous websites. Once when a stranger ridiculed  a photo of my first guru Supramania Swami, I decided that I shall close all the sites and save my gurus from further humiliation. Many devotees e-mailed me to ask about the whereabouts of Kallar and mentioned their intention to seek out Tavayogi and Agathiyar. Along the way I feared that visitors to Kallar might intrude into the privacy of Tavayogi. This was another reason that prompted me to shut down the sites.

I informed Tavayogi of my actions. Tavayogi asked why I did that and continued saying, "Let it be" (to continue posting). It was about this moment when Agathiyar too in his Nadi revelation complimented me on my efforts in spreading the messages of the Siddhas and asked that I continued! Agathiyar indicated that I shall write books too, the very motivational words that got me back on my track. And so I began building the websites and this blog again from scratch.

While traveling with Tavayogi in Malaysia, he once told me that I should speak on Agathiyar and the Siddhas, which came as a surprise to me. With limited knowledge on the Siddhas, I was the least qualified to do so having only come to this path quite recently.

While I accompanied Tavayogi to officiate a Peedham in Banting, Tavayogi as usual spoke for some time on the Siddhas. After ending his speech he surprised me by announcing that I shall speak on the Siddhas. I was dumbfounded and speechless. I gestured to him that I did not want to. But as he and all those gathered around waited patiently for me to say something, I brought up the courage to start with Tavayogi himself, a subject I knew about. A few minutes into the speech, I figured how I was to escape this humongous task. I very cleverly thought I shall start singing the Arutperunjhoti Mantra and get everyone to join in, thus escaping from having to talk further! And that's what I did too!

Agathiyar came into our life's and our hearts in 2002 and he most graciously stepped into our home, Agathiyar Vanam in the form of a bronze statue in 2010. He arranged for his statue to be taken to Karai and have a libation on a massive level done for him, all to our surprise. He had performed miracles in Malaysia too just has he had promised.

Libation to Agathiyar conducted in Karai

In 2011, I made acquaintances with Jnana Jyothi Amma from the USA through the e-mail. After a few months she made a visit to Kallar that changed her life for good. She was directed both by Agathiyar and Tavayogi to spread the messages of Agathiyar and the Siddhas in the west! She did just that!

Bala Chandran and Surendaran Selvaratnam too visited Kallar bringing back images of the ashram and it's activities. From the comfort of my home I began building this blog with all the video footage, pictures and materials on the ashram provided by Jnana Jyothi Amma, Bala and Suren.

Agathiyar and the Siddhas never stopped us from promoting or publicizing their works, their teachings, their messages and the many miracles they performed for their devotees. On the contrary, Agathiyar and the Siddhas have complimented us on this divine venture.

Now we are told that this the the Gnana Sidhar Kaalam or the coming of the age of the Siddhas! Agathiyar has already made his presence known to many. Agathiyar has addressed many through the numerous Nadi readings. Agathiyar has sent out pertinent messages to the public through the Jeeva Nadi revelations by the late Jeeva Nadi Guru of Chennai and the Jeeva Nadi in the possession of Tavayogi. Agathiyar has addressed the public and has cleared their doubts through question and answer sessions. Velayudham Karthikeyan too has posted extensively on Agathiyar and the Jeeva Nadi on his blog at http://siththanarul.blogspot.com/ that has a huge following.

It is only right that we do not withhold the tide of Gnanam that has been unleashed by these Siddhas for the benefit of mankind to awaken them from their slumber. If the Siddhas wish to educate mankind who are we to stop their divine mission?
