With the intent to pray for the safety of Mother Earth and all her inhabitants, and following in the footsteps of our parent home, Sri Agathiyar Gnana Peedam in Kallar, India, we in Malaysia got together to do our part too, initiated by Bala Chandran Gunasekaran and his Thondu Seivom Team, beginning in a modest way, by lighting 108 ghee lamps at the Batu Caves Murugan Temple on 2nd August 2015.
Soon we decided to carry it out as one of our annual programs. The next lighting fest was conducted in Batu Caves too, on 16 October 2016.
The 3rd Annual Lighting event was held on 2 April 2017 again at the Batu Caves Murugan temple but this time we lit 1008 lamps.
This year with Agathiyar, Arunagirinathar, Ramalinga Adigal, Pamban Swamigal and Lord Murugan's grace, we are lighting the lamps at the Sri Mayuranathar Srimath Pamban Swamigal Temple, in Dengkil on 15 September 2018.
Agathiyar has blessed us to carry on, ahead of the event, in a Nadi reading read by Nadi Nool Aasan Tamarai Selvan Aiya of Chennai when Suren dropped in on him recently.
