MAKING PEACE

I was born and raised to worship the pantheon of Hindu Gods and Goddesses, often listening to my mother tell me stories from the Puranas. I was privileged to attend the chapel at my missionary school. I attended a class in Tevaram with my Ceylonese childhood friends, conducted by an elderly teacher from Ceylon. I would attend class at the Buddhist Vihara or temple in my neighborhood, listening to the stories revolving around the life of Gautama Buddha. I took up a postal correspondence course, reading the Bible with course materials arriving by post from a church in Singapore. All these were done when I was growing up and studying. Taking on a job in 1980, I would sit in on the prayers conducted by my Muslim colleagues at the office. I was open to all religious faiths. I did not make any distinction between them.

I loved listening to stories back then as a child and kid. Growing up I began to read these stories. Soon I took up reading about culture and tradition. Then I ventured to read about religion. When an officer in the department resigned in 1994 to join Paramahansa Yogananda's Ranchi ashram in India, he passed me Paramahansa's book "Autobiography of a Yogi". I began to read about men who became gods that day. I came to know about gurus. Agathiyar decided to have me drop in on my very first guru in the physical form, Supramania Swami of Tiruvannamalai, in 2003. In 2005, he sent Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal to our shores and had me drop in on him. These were the turning points in my life. And fate has me write and share about them through this blog.

I felt I had them take care of me. When Agathiyar coming as a bronze statue, came to stay for good in our home and our lives, we felt his presence and care in all matters that governed us. I took up every task he had for me, doing them diligently. Eventually, I let go of them, too, as and when he dictated. I was given total freedom to do my thing. Besides writing this blog, watching some videos and movies, listening to some songs, and going on my daily morning and evening walks, I end up "Doing Nothing" most of the time.  This is how time flies for me these days. Just as the calling came, to come to his path through my very first Nadi reading in 2002, I await the day the calling comes to leave and follow Agathiyar to his realm, just as he took both Supramania Swami and Tavayogi with him. In having me do his work, I had stepped on others' toes. I told him to clear my name before he takes me with him.

Watching the short film, "Always a Joy," we revel in the message and the truth that gets across that every delay is a blessing, and if only we understand that big hurdles lead us to where we need to be, always.

"Made me reflect on a few things. You see, you will get these little speed bumps along the way, but um, everything evens itself out eventually. Listen, you have to trust the process of these things. Anyway, I think what I'm trying to say is that sometimes these big hurdles in life lead us to where we're meant to be."

Joy finally says to James, "I've made my peace with that. I just sit and watch television all day. There's nothing else to be done now, but I suppose to wait out the clock."

THE POWER OF PRAYERS

Listening to  Dr. Sean George's account and that of other doctors who saw the miracle happen right before their eyes is truly a wonder. Prayers do indeed deliver. It is said that "Faith brings hope". It is also said that :Belief invites divine intervention, turning what seems impossible into reality." Prayers then bring us the results.

On the local front, too, there were many instances of such miracles taking place in others' lives. In my short span of life of some 67 years, I have personally seen, heard from others, and read about such miracles taking place. I have shared similar stories in this blog.

My daughter, upon waking up on Saturday, 1st February 2014, complained of having a fever. Our very good friend and family doctor, Dr. Jaswant Singh, treated her with antibiotics but gave us a reminder to go for a blood test in the event her fever does not go down by Monday, as Dengue cases were on the rise. As the fever did not go down, we headed for the Government Clinic, where a blood test was done, and she was confirmed as having the Dengue Fever. She was required to go for a blood test every day to monitor her blood count and platelet levels. Meanwhile, she drank lots of water and took lots of bottled isotonic drinks (Sports drinks are sometimes designed in an isotonic way to assist athletes in rehydrating while balancing electrolytes - From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). She consumed cans of the juice of Honey Dates, too. There was a significant rise immediately after taking the Date juice, but the platelet, white blood cell count, and blood pressure started dropping drastically over the next few days. She was then warded at the General Hospital, where she was given Saline drips to counter the rapid dehydration occurring in the body.

I called up Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal in India. He advocated the juice of papaya leaves. She forced herself to drink the raw juice of fresh, young, tender papaya leaves. Besides that, he told me to see if I could get the herb Vishnukranti, supposedly good for all kinds of Viral fevers (Vishnukranti is valued for its antipyretic properties and is considered a specific for all kinds of fevers - http://mchunkat.tripod.com/AM035.html)

I called on my dear friend, famed astrologer and Siddha doctor, Dr. Krishnan. He too recommended the extract of papaya leaves. He passed me the Nilavembu Kudineer herb, too. The herb was boiled over a slow flame, and the drink was given to her.

Nilavembu Kudineer consists of nine ingredients of medicinal plants of origin, which are Andrographis paniculata (Nilavempu), Vetiveria zizanioides (Vettiver), Cymbopogon jwarancusa (Vilamichu ver), Santalum album (Chandanam), Trichosanthes cucumerina (Peipudal), Cyrerus rotundus (Koraikilangu), Zingiber officinale (Cukku), Piper nigrum (Milaku), Mollugo cervicana (Parppadakam) - Source: Research Article at http://www.journalcra.com/sites/default/files/Download%203297.pdf].

Subsequently, the dear Dr. Krishnan passed on yet another Siddha herbal preparation, this time a sweet-tasting medicine, Adathodai Manapagu, to boost her lost strength. [Adathodai Manapagu consists of Adhatoda vasica (Adathodai) and palm jaggery (panai vellam) - Source: Research Article at http://www.journalcra.com/sites/default/files/Download%203297.pdf]

And finally, to top it all up, we did lots of prayers, individually and jointly too, for her fast recovery. Prayers of Tavayogi, Mataji, Jnana Jothiamma, and our parents were heard by God. Our prayers were answered. My daughter fully recovered from dengue fever. With good care from the nurses and doctors, and these prayers, she was back on her feet and soon attended school again.

Surendaran Selvaratnam, who was attached in Bangkok for a short stint during this time, decided to seek the Nadi at Kallar on 15.2.2014. Upon returning to Malaysia he turned up at my home with the transcript of the Jeeva Nadi reading he had had in Kallar. As I read his transcribe I was speechless for a few moments trying to digest what was said in it. Agathiyar most graciously spoke about my daughter and her recovery in Suren's Jeeva Nadi reading! The transcript went as follows:

என் மகன் குருநாதன் நாமம் கொண்டோன் மழலைக்கு உடல் வாட்டம் காண என்னை வேண்டினான். நானும் மூலனும் சென்றுமே அணுக்கூறுகளை ஏற்றம் காண வைத்தோம் சத்திரத்தில்.

Agathiyar said he had come with Tirumular to the hospital and treated her! He went to the extent of explaining what they did to make my daughter recover! They made her platelet rise!

When an architect by profession and a devotee succumbed to dengue fever a second time, he went out of his body.  He was confronted by Lord Yama, golden in stature and riding a golden bull. When he woke up in his hospital bed, gasping for air, he was told that some three hours plus had passed since he left his body. He remembered uttering Lord Siva's mantra, and the Lord appeared before him, taking him by his hand, pushing away Lord Yama back to where he came from. Many months later, Lord Muruga, in a Jeeva Nadi reading, revealed that he had come and taken his hand and redeemed him from Yama.

When a father who often sent his son to fulfill his wish to pray at Lord Murugan's cave temple in Sungai Siput chose not to enter the cave temple but picked up the broom to sweep clean the floor inside the cave temple, each time he was there was rushed to the hospital one day, and pronounced dead shortly after arrival, the temple priest learning about this rushed to his bedside and recited the Lord's mantra. He arose from death and lived to tell his tale.

An ardent devotee of Agathiyar went into a state of coma after having a fall at his home. His fellow devotees consulted the Nadi and were told to gather and pray for him. He came out of the coma. Agathiyar in the Nadi revealed that he saved him by giving his breath.

A devotee's mother was admitted to the hospital. He called me in the morning hours of 4am. He asked that I light an oil lamp and pray for her safety. I did as requested. When the doctors attended to her, gathering together hastily behind the screens, he knew that his mother's time was up. He cried out to Agathiyar to save his mother. Almost immediately, a gust of wind blows in the wards, and soon the doctors deliver him the news that they were able to revive her. Agathiyar, in a Nadi reading, later revealed to him that he saved her by giving his breath.

When Tavayogi was hospitalized, my family and I prayed that he would survive. He came through it. Later, Agathiyar revealed in my Nadi reading that all the Siddhas had gathered together and conducted a Yagam so that he could live to settle and hand over the running of his ashram to his aid, Mataji Sarojini Ammaiyar.  He lived to accompany my niece to a nearby temple during her visit and contributed towards penning some lines of a song for our maiden venture in producing a music album "Agathiyar Geetham".

When someone was remanded for loaning his car to his friends who were caught in possession of drugs, which, if found guilty, would have sent him to the gallows, his wife headed for Kallar Ashram and conducted a Yagam. Upon returning to Malaysia the following day, she was given the good news that he had been released.

A devotee who saw herself lying on a hospital bed began to shake her body violently, calling out to wake up, but to no avail. Almost immediately, she was at her home, where she saw her little daughter. The thought of who was going to take care of her baby and her husband now, and fear crept into her. Again, immediately, she saw herself standing at the gates to the Batu Caves Murugan Temple. She could see dark bodies usher her towards them. Then a luminous body appeared and motioned her to Lord Muruga in the cave temple, assuring her that it was only he who could revive and redeem her from death. The next moment, she flew over the steps and into the caves. She pleaded with Lord Muruga to bring her back to life. Immediately, a spark of light from the Lord enters her, and she comes out gasping for air at the hospital. She survives the ordeal.

I had previously written about these and many more miracles at

Lord Muruga in the Nadi has revealed to several devotees that he had changed their fate and destiny. He had saved some from imprisonment, some from the gallows, and others from death. Lord Muruga turns out to be the Lord of our destiny, capable of bringing immediate change in our fate. Indeed, in 2018, he told me in a Jeeva Nadi reading that henceforth, he changed my fate too.

But for equally many, they might see God as having let them down when close ones do eventually pass on. One must remember in these moments and console oneself that the soul has made a choice to leave or that there was a reason for it to leave immediately. For instance, when Agathiyar had the relatives of a man who was bedridden for a couple of years carry out remedies that he gave through a regular Nadi reading, the man eventually gave up and asked to be taken. Agathiyar, who surprisingly came in the Nadi after his death, for there is never a Nadi reading for a dead man, asked the next of kin what he was to do as the soul had asked to end it all.

MAPPING THE PATH

Speaking to a friend and devotee over the phone for an astonishing 3 hours and 15 minutes last evening, he told me that he was aware that I, like many before me, had shared my journey, life's experiences, puja, practice, etc., often repeatedly in this blog. He suggested that if I had often quoted and shared about Yogis, Gurus, and masters, and others' experiences, like them, why not I simplify the methods, whatever pertains to my practice, for others to follow too.

I replied that I was not a guru. Neither Agathiyar nor Tavayogi instructed me to teach others, except in one instance when Agathiyar asked me to teach Mahindren the Yoga Asanas and Pranayama techniques that Tavayogi had given me and which I had put into practice, and subsequently had Mahindren teach the other devotees present back then. I was lucky that I had Agathiyar come in the Nadi and through devotees whenever I was in trouble, having pain and discomfort, etc., during this practice. I fear that when others take up the practice without first getting the grace and blessings of the Siddhas through worship and rituals, who can they turn to when they end up in trouble? I would not know what to do in those situations. One needs the direct supervision of the Siddhas when he begins his practice. For that, he has to come to the worship of the Siddhas first. How many are ready, and how many can diligently follow? I opt not to teach till now. I can be considered selfish, but my main concern is that the results and outcome of this practice might affect their health, mobility, or worse still, endanger them.

He did ask me to chart the path and where it was all heading. Agathiyar had pretty much given us a pretty simplified rundown of the entire journey leading to the state of attaining Light or Jothi, the state of the Siddhas themselves, having me take notes and share with the attendees during the Guru Purnima of 2024, where my friend was present too. It would suffice to reproduce the said message, for it is comprehensive.

WALKING ALONE

Harry Owen, a former teacher, author, and poet, writes that when his wife was away for a week, before she left, she reminded him not to be angry. Thinking it had something to do with them, he soon realized that she meant his anger towards the world. His anger, he says suposedly came from

"I was angry because I felt trapped. I had something to say, and I didn’t know how to say it, feeling that there’s not much you can do about it. You want to do something, you want to speak out. You want to be a voice for good. You want to make the world a better place. "

I understand his anger, for when we choose to walk the path of truth, we are at loggerheads with those who travel in the opposite direction. In bringing certain changes in us, we expect others to follow suit. We try to help out in ways we can, at times seen as meddling in others' affairs, and at times seen as giving wrong advice that upsets others, or ends disastrously to the party concerned.

In our initial years of worship to the Siddhas, when many came by wanting to see Agathiyar's bronze statue and pray, they shared their problems and troubles with us. Being the concerned couple, my wife and I would try to calm their feelings and end up dishing out advice that to some became detrimental. They turned against us. Turning to Tavayogi, he asked me why I interfered. We then asked Agathiyar to put a stop to the trail of visitors he said he would send. He did just that, complying with our wishes. Then one day, he asked me what I would do and where I would go if he shut his ears, refusing to listen to my pleas. I understood that he wanted me to listen to others express their grievances. My daughter told us that Agathiyar was listening through us and settling their problems in miraculous and unimaginable ways. Since then, he has people knocking on our door again. We learned only to listen. I have given up convincing others, too. Agathiyar deals with their problems subtly. We end up seeing the results and end up being grateful to him.

After having us walk through the phases of Sariyai, Kriyai, and Yogam, and having us drop them all, he has finally brought us to Gnanam, where we learn to accept everything as a divine play. Agathiyar brought us to the teachings of Bhagawan Ramana and Adi Sankara. We make peace with ourselves and others. We come to terms with all that happens and arrive at the state of acceptance.

A reader messages me as I pen this post, saying that she does not receive support from her husband traveling this journey. I replied to her to let him be and asked her to do what her heart and soul dictate. Eventually, it is a solo, sole, and soul journey. We all shall walk alone. We shall return home as individual souls just as we came.

After reading this posts she writes to me again.

"You nail it, Aiyaa !!! "Eventually, it is a solo, sole, and soul journey. We all shall walk alone. We shall return home as individual souls just as we came. " I feel very much at peace now. Yes, state of acceptance. Agathiar appa has answered me via your writing."

As Harry Owen says, "But say what you have to say and hope that maybe, just maybe, what you have to say will encourage somebody else suddenly to find that they have a voice as well", let each find his or her way.

And as he says of nature, "This tree aloe, this welcoming, whispering intelligence of bats and owls in the darkness. No adornment here, no mere standing upright side-by-side, but rather a simple unity: we are one", that which we failed to understand here, we shall realize when eventually we return to the "place" where we were once all one.

In his poem for his grandson, he speaks for all of us, too.

"‘What I wish for you.’ I wrote it for Charlie, but of course, it is a wish for all humanity. It’s a wish for all my grandchildren. And by extension, their children, their grandchildren. Everybody, everybody - it’s a wish for the world."

"What I wish for you. For you, I choose the humblest things, immortal things, essential things. I wish you home, family, and friends. And friends and friends, your friends. True friends. And then? The best, the very best: it’s always yet to come. I wish for you the safest of clean worlds with flora, fauna, peace, and freedom as brethren, where passion, gratitude, and kindness sprout and grow like thistles, where head and heart combine to spell ‘success’, where money’s fine but never, never all. And most: your fullest, vivid self, little one, whatever may befall, in all that you can do or be. For this is love, your birthright, and all the truth you’ll ever need. So live long. Live full. Love deep. Go well."

And a very BIG THANK YOU to readers for following this blog. The past week's readership has seen the highest. Seeing these numbers, it makes me ask myself if I was indeed walking alone or maybe I am not walking alone after all!

THE STATE OF AGATHIYAN

When I ask myself why I cannot shut my eyes and close my ears to others' problems, I come to know that that is my very character, that of an Aquarius, who tends to care for others. If I were deeply moved and saddened as a bachelor in the eighties, seeing the sufferings of God-fearing relatives and friends around me suffer and in grief, and questioned if God was indeed compassionate, loving, and kind as we were told and read and heard, Lord Siva coming in a dream asked to shelf my questions to a later date, made me take a break for my own good, saving me from turning cuckoo. Fourteen years later,  in 2002, Agathiyar, in revealing my Karma or past deeds in my Nadi reading, made me understand why they had to suffer. When many came before Tavayogi in 2005 and poured out their grievances, he too told them that their sufferings were because of Vinai or past deeds. He did not spell out individual solutions or remedies, but instead told them that the solution lay with the Siddhas and asked that they worship them. We read further, from Velayutham Karthigeyan Aiya's blog, "Siththan Arul", which carried the Nadi revelations of many revealed through the famed Nadi reader of Chennai, the late Hanumathdasan over some forty years, that the Siddhas approached Lord Brahma and appealed and pleaded that he should show some mercy on his subjects. It is said that since then, the Siddhas have begun to document each individual's birth and journey, including their past, present, and future, as well as the remedies in the Nadi.

Fine. Now that they have come to worship the Siddhas and sought to understand the reasons for their dilemma, and carried out the given remedies to end their sufferings, why do they still suffer?

After Agathiyar came as a bronze statue into my home in 2010, he told me that all those who stood at my door were sent by him and asked that I let them in. Indeed, many who came to know that he was here as the statue rang my doorbell and asked to see him. When Agathiyar told me that he would momentarily come within me while my soul enters his statue, I was puzzled. But soon he began to come just as told and helped them by performing miracles. As my wife and I were uneasy with it, he stopped sending them over, respecting our wishes. But one fine day, as I stood before his statue, he asked me where I would go if he were to shut his ears? I knew then that he wanted me to listen. When we backed off on our earlier stand, he began to send many over again.

I have come to accept that the Siddhas are indeed compassionate, loving, and kind, and come forward to help all those in misery, often in miraculous ways. While many returned in joy, I am deeply saddened that there seems to be no end to suffering for some devotees of the Siddhas, though.

If the initial obstacles are supposedly due to our past Karma, we are told that the movement of the planets too play a role in placing obstacles and derailing the benefits and rewards of our efforts. They tend to stall the goodies at times and rain bullets at other moments. So in these trying moments, one might ask, why the need to worship?

If everything was fated, charted, and destined, and we receive what we deserve, both good and bad, and are bound to live it out, why the need to worship?

This brings us back to a moment in the past when a devotee asked why the need to praise the Siddhas? Agathiyar, in asking me to carry out Siddha Puja on Full Moon nights, declared the benefits in doing so in my Nadi reading in 2009. A translation to my ability is given as follows.

Many in this world utter my name (Agathiyar),
Prayers done truthfully (to Siddhas) shall gain many benefits,
Prayers shall bring much joy,
Prayers done moderately but splendidly and honestly shall help protect the world,
Prayers done with fellow devotees will bring many benefits,
Many shall rise in stature and power,
Prayers will lead to a state of bliss,
Prayers done on full moon days shall strengthen the Jothi (Divine Flame) within,
Prayers will help remove doubts,
Through prayers, one shall attain Godhead,
Strength, grace, and wealth shall be gained,
Stay on this path of devotion, and family bonds shall be strengthened,
All that is asked for shall be gained,
Prayers shall lead to meditation and charitable thoughts,
All ills shall be removed,
God shall listen to prayers,
Idiots shall become geniuses,
The benefits attained from prayers are indescribable, for many changes shall take place.

These reasons aside, the core purpose of worship is to bring us to the state of a Siddha. It is only he who has been there who can truly describe and show us what he has seen, felt, and realized. The Siddhas, being perfected beings, bring us to that state, their state of being.

We are so consumed by our sorrows and seek out the Siddhas for solutions to our daily problems that are of our own making that we fail to understand that the Siddhas are here not to deliver us from our petty troubles or life and death matter but to deliver us from this cycle of birth. We need to move on to the realm of the Siddhas and continue our work in delivering others on the face of this earth. Agathiyar, in having me take notes, a day before the Guru Purnima of 2024, dictated to me the following, spelling out the journey towards attaining their state, that of Agathiyan. He asks the questions and answers them too. The translation is as follows.

"Who is Agathiyan?

You are. I am. True. We are all Agathiyan. The Jothi or flame in us is Agathiyan. He resides as the fire, flame, heat, and warmth in us. He is Esan. He is the Esan who resides within.

Why is it that we do not realize or feel him?

It is because we have not attained the state of preparedness or readiness to realize him. Once our soul attains this state, we shall begin to realize him.

How can we attain this state of preparedness?

First, we have to travel this path. We need to travel to the places and abodes of the Siddhas, witness their miracles, enter the states of bliss, and bring back these feelings and work on them, nurturing them. The Siddha shall come down. When we follow their directives, they shall walk with us holding our hands. This travel then shall not be that of an external but of an internal journey. Yoga is the key to this travel within. From Sariyai arriving at Kriyai, now they shall teach Yogam. The journey within shall begin. You shall witness happenings. You shall see many things. It would be puzzling to you. It would be new to you, too. Continuing this internal journey, you shall arrive at each Chakra and eventually see the cosmic dance of Thillai in Sahasrara. A 1000-petaled flower will keep on opening up continuously. Arutjothi will come to reside here. Then its effulgence enters within, and just as the Kundalini upon awakening traverses each Chakra purifying them, this effulgence brings on the shine and luminosity in them. Jothi Darisanam takes place where one sees the light or effulgence. The body takes on the same. Vibrations begin to emit within and around us and are felt by those tuned to receive and feel them. They shall follow you. You become a Jeeva Mukta, having attained Mukti while living in the flesh.

Henceforth, you are no different from Agathiyan, and Agathiyan is no different from you. You are me, and I am you."

TASTING HONEY

Reading the ThiruArutpa songs by Ramalinga Adigal, compiled and published in two volumes by Ooran Adigal, every song of his is as sweet as honey. We are brought to walk together with the saint on his journey of spiritual evolution, migrating through the many phases where we see him worshiping deities, beginning with Lord Murugan, Ambal, and Siva, and eventually settling in light.

Similarly, the honeybees decided to drop by my home and build their comb in the branches of Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, which we call the Bunga Raya tree, the national flower. Several years back, as it began to assemble its squad on a timber beam at the back of my home, we did what everyone does - we called in the Fire Fighting Squad, who attend to capturing predators and driving away bees. But least did we expect them to burn the hive before our eyes. So this time around, my daughter called in an NGO that apparently moves hives. But when he arrived, the bees had already deserted the hive early this morning. But they left something precious for us - we got to taste their honey.

How is it that we have come to think of ourselves as the only intelligent species? Who taught the bees to make a factory and manufacture honey? Who taught the birds to make a nest to lay their eggs? Nature is truly wonderful and intelligent.

Just as there are many phases to building a honeycomb and produce honey, we walk through several and various phases of life on this journey. Some we seek out while others come our way. But at the end of the day, we learn a thing or two. It is truly wonderful. I have come to realize that if we do get through to doing our task here, we need not revisit them in a later life. We move on to the next birth where a new task awaits. Similarly, those who take up the Divine's work here continue to carry on his/her task in their realm. Tavayogi, who took up Agathiyar's work here, preaching the path and doctrines of the Siddhas, is now doing Agathiyar's work in his realm, while Agathiyar takes the time to come to us to continue the teaching.

LIVING A SIMPLE LIFE

Much of what I have written in these blog posts serves to be a reminder for me. I need to remind myself how blessed I am for the food on the table, the clean air I inhale, and the clean water I drink. I need to remind myself of the privilege of having a roof over my head, a pillow under my head, and a blanket to keep me warm on a cold day. I have to be grateful for yet to be given another day to take a walk, take a bath, watch TV, sit quietly and contemplate, and make small chat with the neighbors. Then there are the days my grandchildren are brought over by their parents or my wife and I visit them. Soaking in the warmth and laughter of these children is equivalent to being in heaven. Being still wanted by others is a bonus thrown in.

Having time to hear the distant rumble of thunder reminds us of the gift of hearing, and seeing the sun rise in the morning and set in the evening is a sight that reminds us of the gift of sight. Taking in the wonderful aroma that lingers in our hands even after we have offered the rose that we just picked from our garden to our favourite deity is simply uplifting. Feeling the morning, afternoon, and evening breeze caress our skin as it brushes by is truly living in the present. The smile on others' faces who walk by brings on an instantaneous connection to another, resulting in joy.

At 67, what else does a man want? I see only the bliss and beauty of Lord Krishna in all. After questioning the fairness and if God is indeed compassionate, loving, and kind, and understanding and accepting it all as God's Lila or play, and surrendering to his will, when we begin to see all things in God, is having reached the final destination.

THE GURU DISCIPLE RELATIONSHIP

Most realized souls keep to themselves and are not known to the public except for the locals. But soon someone brings them to the attention of the masses, and streams of people head towards seeing him or her. Then a following begins. Some among them begin to serve the master and soon dictate what and how things are done. The lone master who kept to himself and stayed aloof is now surrounded by the crowd and is pushed to attend to people and their needs. The lone master becomes a world renowned master.

I guess I am guilty of such acts too, bringing Supramania Swami of Tiruvannamalai and Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal of Kallar ashram to the knowledge of many, who soon made their way to see these masters. I guess such simple acts shall elevate the standing of our gurus, just as Supramania Swami, in asking me to start Tavam or austerities, told me that that would elevate his position. So contrary to what we believe, that only the seekers tend to gain something in the presence of these masters, the masters themselves are elevated to higher levels and reach through these Holy alliances.

If carrying out the five tenets of Agathiyar given to mankind during the Sangam of the past helped elevate each soul in all of creation to a higher position, the guru-disciple relationship also does the same.

I had previously published an online book on this said relationship of great masters and their disciples that is available at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zrx_4OZnF7ss8754vh6W6r5afD6P_Sew/view?usp=sharing

It is interesting to read about the first encounters by disciples with these great masters.

I, who was happily frequenting temples and carrying out home worship of the pantheon of Gods and Goddesses at home, was asked to take a break that apparently lasted some good 14 years by Lord Siva coming in a dream, saving me from becoming crazy after questioning if God was truly kind, loving, and compassionate, seeing the many sufferings my relatives and friends went through in the eighties.

In 1994, when Mr Segaran, an officer in the department, resigned his job to become a monk at Paramahansa Yogananda's Ranchi ashram in India, he passed me a copy of Paramahansa's Autobiography. This book introduced me to the world of living masters at par with God. In 2001, I received the Vasudeva mantra through a Holy transmission coming by way of Gopal Pillai, who had gone into Samadhi, coming through my nephew, and bringing me further dictates from Agathiyar, which I only came to know its source in later years. A year later, in 2002, I am called to read the Nadi and the following year, 2003, I meet my first guru in physical form, Supramania Swami of Tiruvannamalai. A couple of years later, in 2005, Agathiyar brought Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal to our shores, and a beautiful guru-disciple relationship blossomed. The fruit of this amazing relationship was seen, felt, and tasted after some seventeen years in 2022. I am living in ecstasy of what is defined in https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary as a state of overwhelming emotion, especially: rapturous delight, a mystic or prophetic trance, and a state of being beyond reason and self-control, after partaking of the fruit as a result of the treasure that came in the form of certain Yoga practices, bestowed by Agathiyar as a gift through Tavayogi on his slave and servant in 2007, that activated and subsequently released the energies within, bringing on the culmination of the flowering of the 1008-petalled lotus in 2022.

In asking me if he should make me a guru, Agathiyar retracted his offer immediately, instead saying he would make me someone else. The master's touch had indeed done wonders, and it did not come easily nor was it purchased for a price, but gifted through sincere discipleship to the word of the guru and diligent practice of Sariyai, Kriyai, and Yogam to arrive eventually at clarity in Gnanam. I am truly grateful to my masters.

PRACTICAL LESSONS LEARNED

As far as we can remember, man has manipulated others and his society by instilling fear. If this is predominant in the material world, coming to religious and later spiritual fields, here too, this tactic is used to control and rule people to gain admiration, authority, and power. Fear mongers come in many forms, such as people, texts, visuals, audio, etc. One has to decipher and sieve through the true and the false, says Agathiyar to us. Maya, that is a creation of the divine, has its place in his divine play, too. It veils our good sense and disillusions us. Having to beat Maya at its own game needs clarity. To gain clarity is an uphill battle. One should be spirited. Holding on to the divine, and in surrendering our ego, the divine brings an end to the game, resolving all challenges and tests.

If Tavayogi spoke to me about Maya on the very onset in 2005, Lord Muruga, a couple of years back, warned me of the game being played or engineered within by Lord Siva and Agathiyar, and executed outwardly by Lord Indran. I am truly thankful to my gurus and the divine for saving me from the clutches of Maya, ending all tests, and bringing a stop to their game.

Then came Bharathi, asking if this was all a dream? It sure seems so.

Similarly, the following song by Sri Dhanurdas Ramanuja Jeeyar Swamigal surely does break us apart and leaves us to wonder if we are true to our cause and purpose.

At the start of it all, Agathiyar, in calling me to the path, asked me to worship the Siddhas, and showed me to Supramania Swami and Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal, where I learned much under their tutelage. Tavayogi started me doing the Homam and charity. Agathiyar came to convince and strengthen the need to do so. Soon after gathering all the experiences and learning some precious lessons, Agathiyar had me drop it all, for he knew that, as Karma, both bad and good initiate another birth, with the former making life tough on us, and the latter showering rewards, one has to make a return to fulfill and live the life. With personal desires out of the way and living a life dictated by the Siddhas, further reasons for a rebirth are reduced. Now we come to the tricky part. What about the requests and desires of others in wanting us to come together in another birth, too? Here then, we are caught in the spiral of the web of birth and rebirth. Here is where the saints who have themselves become light are moved to take on a material form, or if the need arises, to take another birth or Avatar. Tavayogi, who was a disciple of Agathiyar, was an old soul who came for us in the present times. Mataji and a devotee, Sri Krishna, had lived during the period in time when Agathiyar formed a Siva linga from the sand from the banks of the River Kaveri at Erode, which has come to be known as the Nattatreeswarar Temple. Both my wife and I are back here as my daughter had requested of him, says Agathiyar. Then, if there are other scores to be settled with others, we would make a comeback to make things good. This is one vicious circle where we are to be extremely alert and act accordingly if we sincerely want to break the cycle. No wonder Agathiyar tells me that I have known him for crores of years and made a return again. I guess I had missed the boat to his heavenly kingdom in all those births. Will I make it this time around?

LEARNING LIFE'S LESSONS

In sharing these experiences, we enrich the tapestry of all of life that prevails in its entirety. Prapanjam is enriched. Knowledge is made available. The teachings are carried by the followers like the river and the wind, reaching the banks further down and reaching the vast frontiers that lie ahead, respectively. If in the past many a saint have ventured to other lands bringing the news, these days with technology in our palms many hold online classes instead. This blog too has made waves going by the numbers of readership. I  guess this blog has done some good to others, too, seeing the number of readers over the past week.

A friend and a reader wrote in saying, "The way you have guided and shaped my thinking has meant more than you probably know. Thank you for the wisdom you have shared, the patience you have shown, and the quiet care behind both."

I am glad that I have been given a rare opportunity to be a tool in the hands of the divine. Many Upagurus by way of my parents and siblings, relatives and friends, teachers and masters, and all of creation have come my way, where I learned many a thing from them too. But the core of the teaching came from my gurus in physical form, Supramania Swami and Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal, and Agathiyar and the Siddhas coming in numerous forms and through numerous mediums. Life indeed is a learning, as I wrote in the last posts. It is whether we are aware of these moments, receptive to them, and learn the lessons behind these experiences, and most importantly learn to move on.

I am glad that Agathiyar came in the Nadi. I am glad that I met Supramania Swami in India. I am glad that Tavayogi came over to our shores. My gurus Agathiyar, Tavayogi and Supramania Swami came into my life, bringing the dormant energy within each of us to awaken and flow again. Just like the three wires in a circuit, the high-voltage electricity from the power source to the appliance that was carried through the Live wire was carried back to the source through the Neutral wire completing the circuit, while the Earth wire acted as a safety feature that sent stray electrical current safely into the ground respectively. They made sure that I was not roasted, though there were moments when I got burned.

LIFE IS A LEARNING

As I was on the phone yesterday expressing my condolences to the bereaved husband of a couple who were Agathiyar devotees, where he lost his wife in a road mishap, one of many such tragedies and losses which I had written about in a previous post, there was an incoming call. Ending this conversation shortly after, I called the caller. She and her family and siblings were all devotees of Agathiyar, too. She shared her sister's loss of her 20-year-old son due to an unidentified illness. I comforted her. As I pen this post, another news of the death of an elderly relative reaches my ears.

I am reminded of Agathiyar's call to me to listen to others and not turn them away. I am reminded of the days I spent in the company of Tavayogi, where he would patiently listen to all those who stepped forward before him to share their grievances and sufferings. If he were given space to speak, he would tell them that their losses and sufferings were due to Vinai or past Karma. If they were interested in knowing the means to sail through these tough moments, Tavayogi would call upon them to worship the Siddhas.

Though I came to the Siddha path after the calling to read the Nadi and after Agathiyar asked me to come to the worship of the Siddhas, I could accept this advice from Tavayogi to others, too. Generally, in seeking the blessings of the Siddhas, one would expect the Siddhas to burn one's past Karma and reset one's life for a better future. But that was not to be so. It was not as simple as pressing the reset button on a computer or any other device. I soon learned that one has to first heed the words of the Siddhas, put in the effort, as in going on pilgrimages and carrying out the remedies, rituals, and puja, etc and doing charity as in Sariyai and Kriyai, and carry out the practices given as in any of the eight limbs of Patanjali's Yoga.

But although many have been on the path of worship to the Siddhas, and though only a few engage in Yoga, why do they go on suffering? Is there no end to suffering even after taking the hand of the Siddha? Are we then given false hope? Pondering all this, the following dawned on me.

"Say thanks to this life given by the Almighty. Life comes as a teacher to us. All relationships, friendships, and experiences become lessons in Life."

I was made to realise that each soul had previously asked to engage in these events to experience these moments. While our past karma partly determines the birth we take, our past unfulfilled desires, carried forward into this birth, also begin to germinate and grow. Besides these, the Siddhas push us into circumstances that are beyond our control and against our wishes so that we can learn more lessons from these experiences, too. Just as Ramalinga Adigal mentioned that he built the Satya Jnana Sabai for the Devas to come down and learn, we are being schooled too.

This life is precious, as the saints of the past have decreed. We are to make good use of it. We are to be grateful for this birth and this life that is given to us. As Agathiyar asked us not to research the source and the end, Life is truly unfathomable. We often struggle to make sense of it.

Life is akin to a mill, a train treading the track. Whatever is seen on the journey and digested upon briefly alighting from the carriage at these momentary stops or halts, soon becomes a thing of the past as new discoveries and understanding arise.

Thinking that we had begun to understand it, and take a step back to digest these understandings, another episode or event comes up to turn our previous understanding invalid or less accurate.

No wonder Agathiyar says that we have been together for crores of years. Agathiyar himself is said to have lived for four Yugas. No wonder Buddha, who saw a thousand heads to his left, and came to know as his past births, turning to his right, saw another thousand. It takes that long to learn life's lessons.

GURU PURNIMA

We have been conditioned right from the beginning. It begins at home with our grandparents and parents, continues with teachers in school, and later with presiding priests and religious heads in temples and places of worship. Finally, it culminates with gurus and spiritual masters in ashrams and gurukulams, respectively. Many cannot bring themselves to accept whatever differs and is different later on.

Agathiyar came into my life in 2002 as words in the Nadi. Taking up the call to come to the path I saw many argue whether Agathiyar was a dwarf or a six-footer, bringing up stories from the Puranas and other texts to support their respective claims.

Coming to meet Tavayogi, he introduced me to Agathiyar as a name and initiated me to chant his name as a mantra on our first meeting in 2005 in Malaysia. Agathiyar now had a name and a calling card and number.

Just before he left for India, Agathiyar had Tavayogi give me another initiation through touch. He was then the touch.

Later, as I left for his ashram, the same year, he revealed that Agathiyar came as light to him the night I was with him at his ashram. He was light.

As I prepared to leave his ashram for home, Tavayogi initiated me with another mantra and a practice, telling me that he was Vaasi, or the very breath in us. He was the breath now.

In 2007, he gave me Asanas and Pranayama techniques that unknown to me brought Agathiyar within tagging on with my breath and opening the Muladhara. I knew him as the Prana and breath.

If Tavayogi had a granite statue installed in the hills of Kallar, at the spot of his sighting in the hills, which he had his devotees bring my family and me over to worship on our visit in 2013, he installed Agathiyar in fibre at his ashram as a 6-footer in 2010.  At the same time, Agathiyar had me commission his statue in bronze in a replica of his granite statue at Agasthiyampalli and worship him in my home. He was given a form.

Bringing us to Nattatreeswarar temple, Tavayogi told me that Agathiyar and Siva were one.

Then the deity Karupanasamy, in asking us to look out for Agathiyar at the very first temple we step into on our pilgrimage to India in 2016, after returning home, surprised us in addressing us again, confirming the lady whom we met at Sri Rangam and subsequently in all the other holy spots and wherever we went as Agathiyar. He showed us that Agathiyar was a woman.

Agathiyar then took up from there. In 2022, he opened the gates to the Kundalini energy that had been ponding at Svadishtana after, in 2007, he activated the dormant and sleeping creative energy that once saw to my birth and that had gone into hibernation, awakening her through the practice that Tavayogi gave me. He released her to flow in a couple of days, reaching the Sahasrara and bringing on the blooming of the 1000-petaled chakra. Now he was pure energy.

Telling me that he was the Prapanjam, now he was all of creation.

The divine expresses itself in multiple ways and a multitude of ways. We should not confine it to only one aspect. The Siddhas are known to break every belief and tradition, and our hold on things, including them. Tavayogi, knowing pretty well that I would hold on to his physical form and offer obeisance and worship his image, stopped me in my tracks the day I showed outright joy and happiness in having him visit my family home back in 2005. I am glad he did that, although it hurt so much then. He showed me instead to Agathiyar and asked me to hold on to him tight. Agathiyar, on his part, had me let go of him too recently, telling me that it was time I knew Sivam.

Those who rigidly keep to form and name, kept at doing the rituals and practices, even those given by the Siddhas, become stuck in the spot or quicksand or sink into it further. One has to learn to let go after taking on the experiences from all the practices given, and lessons learned, remaining unattached to form and names, rituals, and practices.

When Supramania Swami passed away in 2006, Agathiyar told me to bring him to mind each Thursday during Puja. Thursdays are auspicious to the Gurus too. Agathiyar has asked to reflect on the guru and his words or teachings. That was sufficient, he said. Tavayogi too told me to pray that Swami's soul is placed with the divine. That was sufficient, he said.

As Guru Purnima approaches, falling on the day after tomorrow, on Wednesday, 29 July 2026, I recall that much had taken place on this auspicious day, in previous years, when we honored our gurus.

If every other event revolves around temple celebrations for deities, gods, and goddesses, this day is specifically dedicated to paying homage to one's guru, if one is already on the path of their guru. Guru Purnima is to commemorate all masters and gurus for their role in guiding souls to realize God. "It is a festival celebrated by Hindus and Buddhist where they pay respect and show their gratitude to their spiritual and academic teachers", as reported at https://www.firstpost.com

"Many Hindus celebrate the day in honor of the great sage Vyasa, who is seen as one of the greatest gurus in ancient Hindu traditions and a symbol of the Guru-shishya tradition. Vyasa was not only believed to have been born on this day, but also to have started writing the Brahma Sutras on Ashadha Sudha Padyami, which ends on this day, which is also known as Vyasa Purnima. Vyasa also wrote the Mahabharatam, Shrimad Bhagwatam, and the 18 Puranas. Veda Vyasa did yeoman service to the cause of Vedic studies by gathering all the Vedic hymns extant during his time, dividing them into four parts, namely Rig, Yajur, Sama, and Atharva, based on their use in the sacrificial rites, and teaching them to his four chief disciples – Paila, Vaisampayana, Jaimini, and Sumantu."

If "According to Hinduism, Guru Purnima celebrates the birth of Veda Vyasa, the famous sage who is said to have edited the Vedas, dividing them into four; he also wrote the Puranas, which are considered the 'fifth Veda' and the Mahabharata", ....

..."according to Buddhism, on this day, Gautam Buddha delivered his first sermon or teaching to his first five disciples after he migrated from Bodhgaya to Sarnath. Thereafter, the 'Sangha' or the community of His disciples was formed."

(Source: https://www.prokerala.com/festivals/guru-purnima.html)

According to Wikipedia, it is "a Hindu festival dedicated to spiritual and academic teachers ... marked by ritualistic respect to the Guru, Guru Puja."

"In the yogic tradition, the day is celebrated as the occasion when Shiva became the first guru, as he began the transmission of yoga to the Saptarishis. The story goes that over 15,000 years ago, a yogi appeared in the upper regions of the Himalayas. Nobody knew what his origins were. But his presence was extraordinary, and people gathered. However, he exhibited no signs of life, but for the occasional tears of ecstasy that rolled down his face. People began to drift away, but seven men stayed on. When he opened his eyes, they pleaded with him, wanting to experience whatever was happening to him. He dismissed them, but they persevered. Finally, he gave them a simple preparatory step and closed his eyes again. The seven men began to prepare.

Days rolled into weeks, weeks into months, months into years, but the yogi’s attention did not fall upon them again.

After 84 years of sadhana, on the summer solstice that marks the advent of Dakshinayana, the earth’s southern run, the yogi looked at them again. They had become shining receptacles, wonderfully receptive. He could not ignore them anymore.

On the very next full moon day, the yogi turned south and sat as a guru to these seven men. The Adiyogi (the first yogi) thus became the Adi Guru. Adiyogi expounded these mechanics of life for many years. The seven disciples became celebrated as the Saptarishis and took this knowledge across the world.

Guru Purnima is held sacred in the yogic tradition because the Adiyogi opened up the possibility for a human being to evolve consciously. The seven different aspects of yoga that were put in these seven individuals became the foundation for the seven basic forms of yoga, something that has still endured."

Ram Dass explains the coming of the guru and his role at http://www.ramdass.org/the-consciousness-of-saints/

"All beings are involved in an evolutionary journey. In the course of history, and far into pre-recorded history, beings have been getting lost in the illusion and awakening out of it. Some beings have finished their work and have awakened out of illusion, the illusion that is involved in birth after birth, not only on the physical plane, but on every other plane as well. When these free beings finally emerge from the illusion through grace, through the help of other beings who have escaped, they are faced with a choice. That choice is whether to merge back into God, or to resist that merging and remain in form on one plane or another; either to take birth again on the physical plane or to make their substance condense on a lower astral plane to do ‘work’ for the relief of suffering of other beings."

"Many of the beings that are free in this way, and who have remained in form on one plane or another, work across planes and remain primarily on other lokas, in more subtle bodies, and they work not only with beings on those planes, but also with us on the physical plane."

Ram Dass quotes from an excerpt from "The Near and the Dear" by Dada Mukerjee at http://www.ramdass.org/work-saints/

"Saints are one in their work as divine channels. They link us up with the source from which all bliss flows: love. They bake the unbaked pots and make them fit to receive the divine bliss. They illuminate the path by removing all the darkness that holds us back. Their work does not end with the energizing or enlightening of some select few here and there. They also serve as the unflickering flame, helping to light other candles."

Tavayogi too had to take a physical form to carry out his mission here, representing what Agathiyar stood for and preaching the Siddha ways. Now that it is done, he has merged with Agathiyar. We need not start the worship of him in the form he took in this birth. Now that he has merged with Agathiyar, Tavayogi is with us in the subtle form, guiding us on. We do not worship his form. We see him in the bronze statue of Agathiyar at Agathiyar Vanam Malaysia (AVM). He is light said Dhanvantri to us after his demise. Agathiyar said he was doing their work in their realm.  Supramania Swami told me he had seen the light days before his demise.

All the saints come to dispel the darkness, ignorance, and the veil that prevents us from knowing our true selves. They work to bring us back on track to return to the source, starting us with external worship of the divine and slowly bringing us within. Sadly, we chose to worship the guru in physical form instead of forgetting his message to go beyond form and reach out to the source that is within the Guru and all of us. I am glad that Tavayogi, Ramalinga Adigal and Agathiyar pointed me to the source.

CREATION, NEAR DEATH & DEATH

In the "Author's Notes" of his work of fiction, "The Shack", Windblown Media, 2007, WM Paul Young writes,

Having spent a rough night in the shack, filled with nightmares, Mackenzie emerges onto the porch in the morning, looking disheveled and disorientated. Papa (God) has breakfast waiting for him, and in silence, Mack sits down but doesn't touch his food. Papa, who acknowledges him and continues to talk, finally stops and says, "You know, Mackenzie, part of your problem is that you don't believe that I am good, and until you believe that I am good, you will never trust me."

The now furious Mackenzie, "finally spits out, "Why would I ever trust you? My daughter is dead!"

Indeed, when we lose someone dear to us, we go into a mode of rejection and anger. I had a relative hit by a car, and she died on the spot in my bachelor days. The husband could not take it and condemned God. We too found it incomprehensible when the accident occurred just minutes after she had prayed at a temple and hailed a taxi as she crossed the road.

Last Monday, a friend and devotee of Agathiyar was killed in a road mishap while returning home with her family after traveling to the north. The car driven by her husband went off the road and landed in a ditch. It was difficult to stomach the news for most of us.

Many years back, another family of devotees of Agathiyar met with a head on collision. While they sustained serious and irreversible injuries, their aged mother was killed on the spot. It was tormenting to see them go through this tragedy.

A five year old is knocked down by a car that was reversed in the church grounds and died.

A man who escapes death when he meets with an accident at one junction dies in another accident at the next junction moments later.

A kid who loses his eyesight after been bullied at school dies when a drunk driver smashed into their car as his father rushes him to the hospital moments later.

A man who loses control and ditched his truck that carried newly assembled cars into a ravine scrambles from the wreckage onto the highway only to be hit by another vehicle.

A young man devoted to Agathiyar died a fiery death when a gas cylinder exploded at his office. How do we explain all these? How can we possibly console these souls or their next of kin?

On the other hand, a niece of mine came out of an accident with minimal injuries while her car was a total wreck, after going off the road. The deity Karupanasamy later revealed that he, together with Goddess Kali and my niece's paternal great-grandmother, had saved her.

A devotee who had a Nadi reading and was returning home knock into a stationary lorry at a traffic light. Agathiyar, who never gave any indication about the danger that awaited him, addressed the misfortune in a subsequent Nadi reading, telling him that he had held on to him, hence saving him from any injury. Agathiyar said the same when this devotee slipped while hiking the track up to the Pothigai hills several years earlier.

A devotee who contracted dengue fever went into a coma. He saw Lord Siva drive away the god of death Yama. He survived the ordeal.

A friend had taken the pain to consult the Nadi and carry out the remedies on behalf of a relative, who was bedridden. Unfortunately, the relative gave up the fight after two years of suffering and passed away. When others mocked him and Agathiyar for not saving him, Agathiyar, who surprised them all by coming in another reading,  as there is never a reading for one who has died, asked what he was to do when he had told the deceased to uphold his spirit?

When a daughter asked Agathiyar to put an end to her mother's misery, Agathiyar instructed the family to initiate a Homam. The Siddhas came and took it from there, conducting it. They placed the request to Lord Siva, but Siva did not give his consent for reasons known only to them. She is still surviving till this day, much to her agony.

Another lady was told to be prepared to leave, but after initiating the ritual of pouring milk on Agathiyar's statue at a temple on a specific day and for a specified time, she still continues to walk and breathe.

A devotee called me in the wee hours of the morning from the hospital wards, asking me to pray for his mother's survival. I lit a lamp and prayed. She survived the ordeal. After five years, I received a call from him at the same hour and place. She was fighting for her life again. This time around Agathiyar reminded him not to outsource prayers but to take them into his own hands. She died shortly after. When the son was saddened by her demise, and angry with me I suppose the soul of his mother came through one of his siblings and told them that she was in a safe place and with her guru, Shirdi Sai. What else does he want?

When a family went through much suffering and troubles, I candidly told the lady of the house that her story had all the elements and components to make a full-length movie. When I was figuring out how I could help, Agathiyar, coming through a devotee, asked that they light a Homam and place all their troubles into the burning flame. They regained their joy and happiness.

When a man was held by the authorities after he innocently loaned his car to his friends, who used the car to traffic drugs, his wife rushed to Kallar and performed a Yagam on the advice of Mataji. As the truth was on his side, the man was released as he could not be implicated in the case.

When an administrative officer was suspended from work while investigations were going on, and since his passport was held, and he could not travel to Kallar, Mataji suggested that he join my family's puja. As the truth was on his side, he was reappointed to his former job shortly after.

When a uniform personal was being investigated Ramalinga Adigal coming through a devotee first asked him if he was innocent. He then pointed him to the deity Karupanasamy who cleared the problem for him. No action was taken on him.

When Tavayogi was admited at a private hospital, and returned to his Kallar Ashram to recover Agathiyar in my Nadi reading told me that the Siddhas had gathered to perform the Yagam so that he could have an extension of life and breathe. Once back, Tavayogi settled outstanding matters and handed over the running of the Ashram to Mataji and taught her to read the Jeeva Nadi, which continues to be the rice bowl for the Ashram to sustain. He passed away after a year. When I was at his Ashram in 2005, for the very first time, he brought out numerous Nadis and read a transcript of his daughter's Nadi reading where Agathiyar comforts the child that upon Tavayogi's demise, Lord Siva and Paravathi would take his soul away in a Pushpaka Vimanam, "a mythical aerial vehicle described in the ancient Hindu epics," to their abode. A devotee had a dream after his demise, where she saw Tavayogi and several others ferried across an ocean of water in a boat by Lord Siva towards a hill crawling with Siddhas and Rishis going about their work. Dhanvanthri, coming through a devotee, told us that Tavayogi had attained the state of Light. Later, Agathiyar, coming to assist and guide us further after his demise, told us that Tavayogi was doing his (Agathiyar's) work in their realm.

How do we explain all the above? As we read in "The Shack", "The Shack wrestles with the timeless question: Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?", many like the above have seen pain and suffering too. And equally many have been saved, too. Why then are exceptions made for some but not for others? Why are some lifespans prolonged while others are taken? No one can truly fathom the mysteries that surround creation, near-death, and death.

STORIES

A friend and reader from the UK wrote me the following this morning.

Thank you very much for your message. I have taken some time to digest it as a number of things have been happening….the one within, is He the one you would call Agasthiyar….dare I say openly that this is my experience and understanding, that Agasthiyar is the one within!?

Just as WM Paul Young writes in his "Author's Notes" of his bestseller "The Shack", Windblown Media, 2007, that was later made into a film of the same name, that he and his friends never anticipated the success of his book and equated it to a "God thing", I too never imagined that this blog would have a wide readership.

Readership in the past week

What started initially as a memoir of my travels, which are just a few baby steps on the path, would make big strides when Agathiyar gave his blessing to write, first on the external travels and later on the internal travels that culminated in the fulfillment of what he described as the journey in his own words of discovering him, that he had me take note and read out to the devotees and guests at my 60th wedding initiated and conducted by him during Guru Purnima of 2024. In asking us who Agathiyan is, he explains the journey of transformation into him, or rather, to rediscover him in us. He poses the questions to us and answers them as well. The original was in Tamil. A translation is given below.

"Who is Agathiyan?

You are. I am. True. We all are Agathiyan. The Jothi or flame in us is Agathiyan. He resides as the fire, flame, heat, and warmth in us. He is Esan. He is the Esan who resides within.

Why is it that we do not realize nor feel him?

It is because we have not attained the state of preparedness or readiness to realize him. Once our soul attains this state, we shall begin to realize him.

How can we attain this state of preparedness?

First, we have to travel this path. We need to travel to the places and abodes of the Siddhas, witness their miracles, enter the states of bliss, and bring back these feelings and work on them, nurturing them. The Siddha shall come down. When we follow their directives they shall walk with us holding our hands. This travel then shall not be that of an external but of an internal journey. Yoga is the key to this travel within. From Sariyai arriving at Kriyai, now they shall teach Yogam. The journey within shall begin. You shall witness happenings. You shall see many things. It would be puzzling to you. It would be new to you too. Continuing this internal journey, you shall arrive at each Chakra and eventually see the cosmic dance of Thillai in Sahasrara. A 1000-petaled flower will keep on opening up continuously. Arutjothi will come to reside here. Then its effulgence enters within, and just as how the Kundalini upon awakening traverses each Chakra purifying them, this effulgence brings on the shine and luminosity in them. Jothi Darisanam takes place where one sees the light or effulgence. The body takes on the same. Vibrations begin to emit within and around us and are felt by those tuned to receive and feel around us. They shall follow you. You become a Jeeva Mukta, having attained Mukti while living in the flesh. Henceforth you are no different from Agathiyan and Agathiyan is no different from you. You are me and I am you."

Just as Agathiyar mentioned, after going through all the aforementioned phases, stages, and transformations, a simple question on the deity Karupanasamy that came from my daughter, who had seen the recent movie on him, "Karuppu", prompted the divine energies to come within me, last Sunday, giving me a sampling of what Agathiyar describes as "Vibrations begin to emit within and around us".

This blog is all about stories, right from myths and legends to real-life experiences and encounters of all those who came into my life, and what I came to know from others, and that of mine, too.

WM Paul Young writes that "Every human being is a story, and when we share the stories of our lives, we are talking about Holy Ground where the dust of creation with fire that refines, the activity of God in the wonder of our humanity." He continues stating his belief that "God is good all the time and involved in the details of our lives, in ways mysterious both gentle and confrontational"..... "often behind the perceived and playing in the nudge, a hunch and idea that pops into our awareness" and that "all human beings hear God for themselves but it is in each persons unique language often so normal to each of us that we discount it."

We are trying to break down the doors with logic, science, and understanding, but rituals and prayers reach out to the divine and bring them to open these same doors from the inside without any damage.
