AGATHIAR VIZHA PART 1

Sometime back I received a request from Dr Tiaga of Arumuga Agathiar Whatsapp Group to bring over Agathiyar at AVM to the Agathiyar Vizha to be held in conjunction with the Chitrapournami celebrations at the Sri Mayuranathar Alayam, Sri Math Pamban Kumaraguruthasa Swamigal Thirukovil in Dengkil. I readily agreed, for who was I to come in the way of Agathiyar's wish to go over to his Guru Lord Murugan's temple and also his disciple Pamban Kumaraguruthasa Swamigal's sannadhi. 

I roped in the assistance of Sri and Srimathi Krishna of the Agathiyar Universal Mission and Sri Yuvaraj of the Sri Agasthiyar Sakthi Nyaanaalayam and together with the members of AVM and Sri Math Pamban Kumaraguruthasa Swamigal Thirukovil, and with the blessings of Erai and Guru, we managed to conduct the event in a blissful and wonderful way.

The day started of with the arrival of Agathiyar of AVM at the temple at 7.30am. Agathiyar was placed on a dais or pallakku and carried into the temple grounds with great fair before a yagna or sacrificial fire was lit. Libation or abhisegam followed, the bathing ritual performed for Lord Muruga and Pamban Kumaraguruthasa Swamigal.

After lunch a Siddhar puja began with kalasa puja and homam, before proceeding with libation or abhisegam to Agathiyar.

A GREAT DEED

Sri & Srimathi Krishna of Agathiyar Universal Mission have been doing a great deed and service, silently, without much publicity. They have been distributing food packets to the homeless and hungry in and around Kuala Lumpur city under a program aptly named Pothigai Meals on Wheels. Siddha Heartbeat is proud to share these magical moments of compassion towards humanity from the hearts of these good souls, caught on film.

3pm to 4pm preparation for A. Kumba Puja, B. Homam, C. Abhisegam and D. Alangaaram.

4pm start of Kumba Puja followed by Homam lead by Sri Saravanan. Devotees will recite together. 

A. Kumba Puja

c) Shanmugam of Agathiyar Vanam Malaysia 

1. Abhisegam done for Agathiyar by Sri Balachander with 16 items followed by appropriate songs for each item of abhisegam sang by Vimala and Sri Rajah's kids and joined by other devotees.

2. Poosai Vinnappam - Arul Vilakke... (Offering flowers to Agathiyar's murthy, followed by thuupam and karpooram aaraathi)

D. Alangaaram

Begins at 6pm. While alangaaram is in progress a nadi reading from Agathiyar "Pusaiyin Palan", regarding the auspiciousness of Pornami puja will be read out by Sri Saravanan. Further readings and songs on Agathiya Perumaanin Mahathuvam, extolling the greatness of Agathiyar, will follow.

E. Deepa Arathanai

After Deepa Arathai by Sri Balachander, devotees shall sing the following songs.

1. 108 Sarana Manthiram/Aadiya Paatham (Thiruarutpa) and Ambalatharase (Thiruarutpa) lead by Shanmugam/ Vimala followed by others.

2. Agathiyar thuthi/ Gurumuni Kavasam and Vinnapam by Srimathi Malathy Rajah.

AVM has been given the honor to jointly host Agathiar Vizha with Sri Mayuranathar Alayam, Sri Math Pamban Kumaraguruthasa Swamigal Thirukovil at Dengkil on 21st April 2016 in conjunction with Chitra Pournami.

AVM shall rope in the assistance of Sri & Srimathi Krishna of the Agathiyar Universal Mission (AUM) and Sri Uva of the Agathiyar Sakthi Gnaanaalayam.

THE DIVINE LILA OR PLAY OF AGATHIYAR

The late Louis Anton Selvarajah who had worshiped Agathiyar in the form of a granite statue at his residence in Petaling Jaya was mooted to move Agathiyar to the Sri Raja Sakthy Nageshwary Amman Temple in Kampong Haji Abdullah Hukum, Kuala Lumpur where he continued with the rituals, before his sudden demise. Currently Sri Krishna and his wife, of the Agathiyar Universal Mission (AUM), have taken on the task of handling and making all arrangements to ensure the steady and uninterrupted ritual of performing abhisegam for Agathiyar is carried out.

Sri Palanisamy Aiya who had a similar statue of Agathiyar, handed him over to Sri Uva, after worshiping him in that form for 7 years. Subsequently Agathiyar was installed at the the Sri Agasthiyar Sakthi Nyaanaalayam in Taman Petaling, Kepong, as directed in both their Nadi readings.

Meanwhile Agathiyar at Agathiyar Vanam Malaysia (AVM), who was supposed to go to the Sri Raghavendra Swamigal Mritiga Brindavanam in Ipoh, chose to remain at AVM. Agathiyar had me perform the homam and abhisegam or libation for him after his arrival in the form of a bronze statue in 2010. Every time I went for a Nadi reading, Agathiyar would stress the need to conduct prayers or puja for the betterment of humanity and would extol its benefits.

While Agathiyar asks that my family and I continue conducting prayers for the good of mankind at AVM, Sri Krishna and his wife have been directed to assist those who have to perform atonements or parikaram according to their Nadi readings. Since the directive, this loving couple have been taking devotees of Agathiyar to perform parikarams at temples both in Malaysia and in India.

Sri Krishna of AUM and members of AVM are in the midst of organizing a spiritual tour to several places scheduled on 1st May 2016.

Sri Krishna's uncle too was given a task; that of translating the Nadi reading for non-Tamil speaking seekers.

Agathiyar had mentioned in a Nadi reading of a staunch devotee, that he (Agathiyar) had created a Peedham or a spiritual establishment for him. The devotee had very much desired to establish and head one.

Another devotee was instructed to place a statue of Agathiyar in his home and to worship. But the last time I corresponded with him, he had yet to do it.

Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal, who desired to spread the teachings of the Siddhas, eventually started an establishment in his hometown. Later taking on the role of a mendicant or turavi, he finally arrived at Kallar Ashram, wanting to go into samadhi. But he was moved by Agathiyar to leave for Malaysia, a totally foreign place then. Subsequently he made many more visits to Malaysia.

We can never understand the divine play of Agathiyar and the Siddhas. But rest assured that whatever is happening is taking place according to certain divine laws placed perfectly in place.

A DAY OF CHARITY

AVM and Thondu Seivom, having joined hands in service, have been performing charity at a childrens' home each month, since January of 2016. Well-wishers and Good Samaritans are invited to join us or contribute directly towards the upkeep of this home and its children. The next visit to this home is on 3rd April 2016.

SONGS OF PRAISE TO ERAI

AVM has been blessed with the arrival of many multi talented devotees of Erai. Beginning with a handful of Agathiyar devotees, we have come a long way today. These few devotees who ushered and welcomed Agathiyar in the form of a bronze statue way back in January of 2010, has grown in size and today AVM is preparing to conduct a Vizha or fest for Agathiyar, in partnership with the Sri Mayuranathar Alayam, Kumaraguruthasa Swamigal Thirukovil at Dengkil on 21.4.2016 in conjunction with Chitra Pornami.

Sri S. Maniam, Dr Thiagarajan, and Sri Sugumar have extended an invitation to AVM to hold Agathiyar Vizha at their temple. They took the liberty to sing praises for Erai while at AVM recently.
