THE MAGNITUDE AND EXTEND OF AGATHIYAR'S INFLUENCE IN ALLEVIATING THE EFFECTS OF KARMA

The Invitation to Agathiyar's Jayanthi & Guru Puja celebrations at Kallar

Tavayogi passed stacks of invitations to the Annual Agathiyar Jayanthi and Guru Puja celebrations to be distributed in Malaysia as I was leaving Kallar. Back in Malaysia, I went around distributing the invitations to relatives, friends, and well-wishers.

I was saddened to meet an ardent devotee PC who had lost his right leg due to diabetes. He had been in the Siddha path for the past forty-odd years. He was also heading an Agathiyar Peedham in Malaysia. PC's wife goes into a fit often. As if that was not enough, his son met with an accident and broke his leg a couple of years back.

Just when I was questioning why that accident had to happen, my daughter gets knocked down by a car while riding pillion. Although fate dealt a cruel blow that day I saw how Agathiyar was working on my daughter from the very moment she was hit until the moment she was certified fit to walk again. I also realized the efficacy of prayers when Tavayogi and Mataji told me that they shall pray for her.

The doctor who attended to her at the emergency ward told us he would apply a fiberglass cast and let nature do its work. He told us since she was young she should walk in three months. However, these three months were critical to her because she had just started her internship, which was compulsory if she was to complete her diploma. On our insistence that she should not miss her internship, the doctor gave us another option. They could place surgical nails with which she could walk. We gave permission to proceed. My daughter’s leg was cast in half-cast and she was warded while awaiting her turn to be operated one.

At the wards, a senior doctor on his rounds questioned our request for an operation. He strongly advised us against the operation. He believed she should be back on her feet in three months to complete her internship. “If her bones do not mend naturally then we can consider the operation”, he assured us. We submitted it to him. My daughter was in a full cast and told to rest at home.

My daughter could not accept her fate and questioned me why it was all happening. Questions upon questions arise. Why did Agathiyar let this happen? Why did he not stop the accident from happening in the first place? Why did she need to go through this sorrow? I had no answers.

People we knew and concerned strangers told us to seek alternative approaches and pointed us to practitioners of alternative medicine. Even though I felt reluctant to seek another alternative, as I had faith in Agathiyar, but as a father, I had to seek out all available means to cure my daughter and have her back on her feet.

While considering whether to go for these treatments, I decided I should seek Agathiyar’s advice first since he had advised me all this while through the Nadi, forty-six times to date.

There was a message from Agathiyar in my daughter’s Nadi reading. Agathiyar tells her that fate had chosen to cause havoc in her life leading to physical and mental torture during this period where her planetary positions were weak. The weak placement of these planets had been crucial in this mishap taking place.

Agathiyar assured her that she need not fear for all would be well. He advised her to continue with the treatment in the hospital. She would have to undergo a small procedure though, he added.

She was asked to appease Lord Saturn, which I did diligently on her behalf; and to consume sesame seeds. Why sesame seed we wondered? When I did a search on Google, I came to know that sesame seed has a high content of calcium. While doctors advised her to take calcium supplements to assist her bone to heal fast, Agathiyar advises my daughter to consume sesame seeds, which was equally high in calcium content. My daughter did as advised.

After three months her bone did not mend as expected. It was a case of non-union, I was told. The doctor told us 95% of the patients have their bones mend naturally without any aid; though there is a possibility of non-union in the remaining 5%. Unfortunately, my daughter fell into the latter category. The doctor now told her he had no option but to perform an operation to place a metal plate in her leg and briefed us on the procedure. After a brief moment of silence, the doctor offered her another alternative. She could go for an Autologous Conditioned Plasma (ACP) Injection, which according to him had proven successful among sportsmen who had sports injuries. His words brought relief to us and we opted for the treatment that did not require her to be operated on. She had to receive three injections in a span of two weeks. Miraculously the treatment gave positive results and she had new bone growth at the site of the injury. After nine months of rest and recovery, she was back on her feet and completed her internship.

Only recently had PC's son gone back for an operation to remove the bone screws embedded in his leg and was recuperating from the operation.

Please visit the following page for an understanding of how this is done at http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/topic.cfm?topic=A00196

When PC's son met with the accident, I was questioning Agathiyar too as to how he could let that happen? When my daughter met with an accident, I understood why it had to happen after Agathiyar explains in the Nadi.

As if to show me that even gurus or spiritual masters were not exempted from tragedies and hardship, and were not beyond fate and destiny, Tavayogi was knocked down while riding the motorbike. Tavayogi accepted the incident coolly. He tells me that he had karma that needed to be 'settled'. After much treatment, rests and Agathiyar's grace Tavayogi recovered fully.

Now I was saddened to see PC's family's fate take a turn for the worst. PC's wife needs to have someone care for her, while PC himself is in a wheelchair. The couple is left alone to fend for themselves although they have children who were married. I questioned Agathiyar why he was not protecting his devotee as fate kept dealing with continuous blows on PC's family? I was asking why PC had to go through so much misery.

This brings me back to the first day I was at the Agathiyar Gnana Peedham at Wisma Keringat, Batu Caves. Tavayogi was in Malaysia to officiate the opening of this peedham. I had gone over to see him after reading about his arrival and the event in the local daily. His name sounded familiar. I searched my stacks of papers and found the leaflet that I had received from Nadi Guru Senthilkumar, from Avinasi who was in Malaysia. He had passed me the leaflet after I went for my first Nadi reading in 2002. According to the leaflet, Thaaiveedu Thangarasan was collecting donations towards the construction of a temple for Agathiyar at Kallar. I brought along the leaflet to Tavayogi and asked if he was the one mentioned in it. Tavayogi confirmed that Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal was indeed Thaaiveedu Thangarasan. During this meeting with Tavayogi, Bala, a devotee of thirty years joined us. Bala asked me if I had any problems numerous times. I replied that I had none. He just could not believe nor accept. Finally, he told me that all those who sought out Agathiyar came with problems and he assumed I too had problems. This was in 2005.

As time passed by, I began to realize that there could be some truth in Bala's words. When devotees came over to my home to participate in the prayers to Agathiyar and the Siddhas, and upon subsequent visits, they opened up a pandora's box.

When Selvam, Nadi Guru Ramesh's brother-in-law recommended that I browse through Tholi's blog SITTHARGAL RAJIYAM at http://www.siththarkal.com/, I came across Velayutham Karthikeyan Aiya's blog SITHTHAN ARUL.

Agathiyar had an explanation for me through Karthikeyan Aiya's SITHTHAN ARUL. Below is a translation of Karthikeyan Aiya's post on the origin of the Jeeva Nadi:

“The Nadi has been written by Siddhas for us to know about our past, the present and the future. Many have corrected their lifestyle after listening to the explanations, heeding the instructions and carrying out atonement. Many more had regained their health and peace of mind.”

“The Siddhas are those who knew the past, present and the future. They were gnosis. The Siddhas were similar to a company’s secretary. The Siddhas were God’s messengers. When those who had prayed to God and had yet to receive God’s blessings, approached the Siddhas instead, they immediately received God’s blessings.”

Karthiyen Aiya’s blog entry brings us back to time immemorial where the Siddhas, being compassionate and kind, put forward to God or Erai as Agathiyar wishes to address, their wishes for humanity. The Siddhas had wished that whoever seeks them out for solutions to their problems and surrender to them, they shall be pardoned for their past deeds, however bad and evil they may be, and shall not be put through the trial and tribulations and made to face the consequences but instead be saved. Erai granted the Siddhas this wish.

The next instant the Siddhas wrote down: the reasons for each individual’s sufferings; listed out solutions and remedies; and showed ways and means to overcome or end the seeker's problems, sins, diseases, illnesses, and sufferings. They wrote them in Tamil prose on dried palm leaves. These writings came to be known as the Nadi.

Karthikeyan Aiya adds that one has to seek out the Siddhas to solve his problems.

Reading Karthikeyan Aiya’s blog that carried stories of individuals who had sought out the Jeeva Nadi Guru of Chennai and the Jeeva Nadi in his possession for answers to their problems, dilemma, and sufferings was both enlightening and revealing. I learned much about Agathiyar and other Siddhas, and the workings of the Siddhas and the Nadi through these amazing revelations.

Tholi wrote on her blog SITTHARGAL RAJIYAM at http://www.siththarkal.com/2013/10/blog-post.html recently that she too had met with an accident and had had two operations done on her spine and has been recovering the past five weeks. She has not started walking again.

I called up Tavayogi a couple of days back and related to him the misery that PC was undergoing and my sadness in the hope that Tavayogi would pray for PC's well being too.

Agathiyar answers me again through Velayudham Karthikeyan Aiya's post on SITHTHAN ARUL at http://siththanarul.blogspot.com/2013/11/149.html today.

The gist of the post is as follows:

Brahma says to Agathiyar, "You are asking me to go easy on too many devotees. It would take not less than 10 years to seek out their Nadi or olai suvadi and make changes to their fate. If you keep on recommending that I save them by changing their fate, who is going to pay back for their deeds and karma."

"Do we not need to punish them for their karma", Brahma questions Agathiyar. Brahma goes on to add that he cannot stop the incident from happening but can reduce the repercussions or effects as a result of that event.

Agathiyar confronts Brahma telling him that he believes all should be saved, that their fate should be changed. Thus Agathiyar has asked that Brahma increase the workforce so that these changes can be hastened. Agathiyar has asked that Brahma change the karma of all those who came seeking him (Agathiyar) as he had given his word. Agathiyar seeks Brahma's word and promises that he would not harm any of his devotees.

As seen above, the ever compassionate father Agathiyar goes all the way to save his devotees if they approach him with sincerity, faith, and belief. Agathiyar never lets down his devotees who seek his guidance and advice. Agathiyar presents their cases to the higher authorities which includes appealing, pleading, bargaining and in worst situations confronting the Gods for the sake and well-being of his devotees.

The magnitude and extend of Agathiyar's influence in alleviating the effects of Karma by coaxing the God's to compromise and come to a deal, and to mete out less severe penalties, and at times save a life too, is seen when one reads Agathiyar's revelations to the Jeeva Nadi Guru of Chennai and the seekers of the Jeeva Nadi in his (the Jeeva Nadi Guru) possession, published in the Indian weekly's and later made available in five volumes as NADI SOLLUM KATHAIGAL and also more revelations through Karthikeyan Aiya's blog SITHTHAN ARUL.

Similarly, we in Malaysia have a story to tell too, the story where Agathiyar saves the life of a devotee. Bhaktavatchalam was instrumental in bringing in Nadi Guru Ramesh to Malaysia and caring for his logistics and other needs. He brought in many non-Tamil speaking clients seeking the Nadi to Ramesh. He was also instrumental in installing the bronze statue of Agathiyar at the Karpaga Vinayagar temple in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

A lady who went for a reading of her nadi with Nadi Guru Ramesh was asked by Agathiyar to install a bronze statue of Agathiyar at the Karpaga Vinayagar temple. At that moment the temple was undergoing renovations. Agathiyar had requested her to install him there once the temple was completed. But she did not take heed of Agathiyar's directive but instead chose to leave the country for India and subsequently passed away in India. She had mentioned the directive in the Nadi to Bhaktavatchalam, though. Bhaktavatchalam decided to fulfill the requests and gathered twenty-five people to finance the making, delivering and installation of the statue.

After having installed Agathiyar, they practically 'forgot' about him. Then Agathiyar in Bhaktavatchalam's Nadi takes them to task and asked that they perform prayers and read the Agaval of Ramalinga Adigal with Nadi Guru Ramesh taking the lead. Since then Agathiyar has instructed them to conduct the prayers as an annual affair.

But destiny gave Bhaktavatchalam a cruel blow when he collapses and goes into a coma. The doctors had given up hope and asked the family to inform their relatives and friends. That is when some close associates of Bhaktavatchalam approached Nadi Guru Ramesh to seek Agathiyar’s aid.

Ramesh rushes to the hospital bed to relay the message from Agathiyar in the Nadi. Agathiyar assured all those gathered around at the death bed of his devotee Bhaktavatchalam, “I shall save his life-giving my breath!”

All Agathiyar asked them to do was organize a group prayer or Kutu Prathanai. Devotees, family, and friends gathered to pray that Bhaktavatchalam should survive. Again we see the efficacy of prayers when Bhaktavatchalam lived to tell the tale!
