VARMA KALAI - A GIFT FROM THE SIDDHAS PART 1

The Siddhas have given mankind many gifts. Seeing the extent and severity of sufferings man was going through, the Siddhas requested to Erai to grant them the gift of helping mankind. The Siddhas who had fathomed the mysteries of life were granted their wishes and so set forth to help mankind in many ways.

They took up the task to record and document individuals' life, through their gift of seeing both the past and the future. These records were known as the Nadi - elaborate accounts of past and future happenings.

The Rishis and Siddhas documented the science of healing, Siddha and Ayurveda, having noted the components of plants and herbs and their benefits to medical science (the science of dealing with the maintenance of health and the prevention and treatment of disease - http://www.thefreedictionary.com). Again these were recorded on dried palm leaves or Olai Suvadi.

The Siddhas had seen Erai. They shared a huge volume of sacred devotional hymns and poems to help mankind reach Erai. These devotional outpourings include Periya Gnana Kovai, and numerous Siddhar Paadalgal.

When Tavayogi Thangarasan Adigal taught us a series of asanas and pranayama techniques when he was in Malaysia, Agathiyar mentioned in the Nadi that what we had received was a gift or pokisam that was to be treasured.

Another gift given to mankind by the Siddhas is the art of self defense and healing known as Varma Kalai. Besides being a means of self defense, the art of Varma Kalai is also used to cure ailments and diseases.

Agathiyar Vanam Malaysia had the honor of having two devotees, Uvaraj, a well traveled Martial art exponent and his Master Arunan, an exponent of Silambam and Varma Kalai, drop by on Sunday evening.

Both these wonderful souls, have come forward to help revive this dying art, and hence are accepting students who are keen to learn this art form. For those who are interested to enroll or to know more about this ancient art, please get in touch with Uvaraj at e-mail.

Siddha Heartbeat is proud to share certain portions of the 7 hour long Satsang - a very enlightening and informative session.

Watch these masters speak with excitement and love about the Varma Kalai, an art form incorporating self defense and healing too, handed over by the Siddhas. Listen to them share about how they came to Agathiyar too and the many blessed moments and miracles they encountered in their lives.
