After dropping Sariyai, Kriyai, Yogam, and Gnanam, the real joy begins. It is in connecting with others of the same wavelength. We tend to harp that nothing is right and find faults with people and everything else, while the Gnanis tell us that all is well and is where it should be. Putting a question to a well-read friend and a lawyer in his twenties, if we should lend a hand and how much is enough, or adopt the stand of the Gnanis and stay away, he surprised me with his immense knowledge. He narrated the story of the confused Arjuna on the battlefield at Kurukshetra and how Sri Krishna counselled him on his duties. Being a Satriya, his duty was to fight, and so did Sri Krishna point it out to him. But this marksman and famed archer could not defeat the Yadavas in battle later in history. Now, Sri Krishna tells him that his skill was useful before, but not now. I realised then that a gift is only temporary and for a purpose. Once the purpose is seen through, it is done with. We cannot possibly summon it back.
Time and space are creations of man. We have caught and frozen men in their moments of glory and turned them into gods. We have come to immortalize the Gods, too. Karupanasamy, considered a lesser God and widely worshipped, is said to be Kusa, the son of Rama. Taking a manifestation and journeying south to defeat the Asuras, we have captured him and continue to worship in that form till now, though he returned home and went back to his true nature.
We see only because we tend to attach what is viewed to something earlier in our library of past visions, sightings, and seeing, or an experience and a learning. And so we tend to make mistakes in identifying wrongly, as Adi Sankara says of mistaking the rope for a snake. This is the reason J Krishnamurthi asks us to see anew. He asked,
"Can you observe without naming? Can you look at a tree, a thought, a wound without bringing the past into it? Can you live without comparison, without becoming, without fear? He asked not for belief but for insight. Not for obedience but for freedom. Not for worship but for attention. And always he returned to silence. Not the silence of withdrawal but the silence that is born when the noise of thoughts subsides. A silence that is not created but revealed. A silence that is."
Like Tavayogi, who asks that the soul be freed and should not be caged (by doctrines and dogmas, protocol and ceremonies), J Krishnamurthi, too, speaks the same language.
I want therefore to set man free, rejoicing as the bird in the clear sky, unburdened, independent, ecstatic in that freedom. And I, for whom you have been preparing for eighteen years, now say that you must be free of all these things, free from your complications, your entanglements. You are all depending for your spirituality on someone else, for your happiness on someone else, for your enlightenment on someone else; and although you have been preparing for me for eighteen years, when I say all these things are unnecessary, when I say that you must put them all away and look within yourselves for the enlightenment, for the glory, for the purification, and for the incorruptibility of the self, not one of you is willing to do it. There may be a few, but very, very few. So why have an organization?
Agathiyar too had voiced his concern. We now know the reason why he dissolved our "Agathiyar Vanam Malaysia" (AVM) WhatsApp group, too. Just like Krishnamurthi laments that "When I say that you must put them all away and look within yourselves for the enlightenment, for the glory, for the purification, and for the incorruptibility of the self, not one of you is willing to do it", Ramalinga Adigal before leaving his mortal frame, spoke his mind and told those gathered that they shall never listen to the word of God, adding that his teachings would be picked up by the west. J Krishnamurthi adds that "the moment spiritualism is organized, it becomes religion. Spiritualism is beyond any dogmas and doctrines."
Since Agathiyar had asked that I update readers on what goes on within, how am I doing and faring? The moment I lay my head down on the pillow to sleep at night, I spit out phlegm. Wind is relieved in the mornings while I throw out bile at other times. The process of ridding the three Dosas in excess seems to be an ongoing thing, so that they are in a balanced state and health continues to prevail. The energy that moved swiftly to the Sahasrara within a couple of days of being freed back then in 2024, having ponded for several years in Svadishtana, has returned to base camp at Svadishtana, prompting a similar pain in nature that I went through for some 2 1/2 years back then in 2010 but at a lesser and manageable intensity. It has not affected my mobiliti nor crippled me as it did earlier. The flowering in the crown of the head goes on as usual. It went on even as I sat watching, enjoying the Marvel movie "Thunderbolt" which, true to its title, threw bolts of thunderous action and sound all around us at the IMAX theatre equipped with Dolby Atmos. As my daughter says, it is a marvel that only Marvel can carry out a stunt like changing the title of the movie while it is running in theatres, "Thunderbolt" is now "The New Avengers". Go watch it. See it anew.
